The person who answered the Hardware phone line checked the shelves in person, since I was driving in from a distance. "Yes, it was on the shelves", he said. Once in the store, a young employee asked me what I was looking for. When I told him, he said "the store did not carry that product." Fortunately I knew better, and told him that I already had verified that it was on the shelves somewhere. He walked away, leaving me to find it on my own, which I eventually did. If I had not verified it's presense, I would have driven home empty handed. Maybe this employee could use a little more training?

My building changed their locks and gave us instructions to get copies of the master. So naturally I went to the place down the street with the giant sign that says "Keys made here". You would have thought I asked this man to shave his beard off. Little free tip for you. The correct response to "Im looking to copy this key" is not "Nope. How many more of you are gonna come down here it's ridiculous". My bad I meant to organize with every renter in my complex so we can all go get our keys at once and maybe grab dinner after. Instead, try: "sorry we're actually sold out of that key. Try another store or check back next week". Maybe even throw in some friendly banter? Idk just spit balling.
