First of all, Michelle knows her stuff. You can tell she's been doing this for a while. At our 1 month meeting, she told us exactly what decor we needed to buy and how many photos to print at Walgreens. She had us bring 1 bin for the ceremony, 1 bin for the cocktail hour, etc. It made preparations super easy. At our venue walkthrough, I was so glad she was there, because she would think of things that I would never. For example, we thought about having our groomsmen bus tables to save a little money. Immediately, she called out that they will probably be drinking and can't do it. Second, Michelle puts so much love and care into her job. From our initial meeting, she genuinely wanted to know us and what we were looking for. She accommodated everything we wanted. In our timeline planning meeting, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to take sunset photos and cut cake, because they would need to happen at the same time. Amazingly, Michelle put the puzzle pieces together and figured out how to do both. We would cut the cake first (3 min), then take sunset photos, then come back to serve the cake. I was so impressed. Get a coordinator who can do both! She's super responsive to emails. Even in the middle of wedding season, the communication was excellent. On our wedding day, we felt so attended to. It made my life so much easier. Once Covid hit, we had to cancel our wedding and they were extremely understanding even though their business was also being affected. Come 2022, we re-connected to have them help coordinate our reception do-over. They were, yet again, amazing to work with. She is a very strange and frustrating person to work with. She doesn't seem very tech savvy. She chooses to use Venmo but doesn't seem to understand how the platform works. We venmod her payment and she rushed delivered the amount into her account instead of waiting 24 hours. It cost her $25 for the rush delivery and she scolded us for it. We felt bad for her because her response seemed over the top for $25, so we venmod her $25. I know people are struggling right now. Her email chains are also very confusing and all over the place. Most planners use a planning module to help stay organized with clients, but with Theresa, it was a lot of emails and very hard to keep track of. She even got the start time of our baby shower wrong .. the disorganization with the emails might have been the cause. Now onto the primary complaint. We had hired her because she was local to the area that we wanted to have our baby shower. Unfortunately, we were not able to find a venue in the San Diego area. We ended up planning to have the shower at our home. As fate would have it, the shower was scheduled on the day of the tropical storm. Our guests and us felt comfortable as it was going to be at our home. The day before, I had reached out to Theresa to solidify the plans and set-up times for the shower and she stated that everything was good to go. Then, a few hours later, Theresa reached out and stated that the other vendor canceled and that she (Theresa) also felt uncomfortable due to the storm. I understood their concerns. I had two options moving forward - drive to pick up the decor and catering OR cancel the baby shower. We didn't feel confident in our abilities to decorate and set up the baby shower on our own, so we canceled for the time being. In the following week, we discussed a possible new date with family and agreed on 9/2. Because the cancellation was so last minute, we incurred fees with the furniture rental company. What was strange was that even though she and the other vendor canceled on us, they were both still charging us cancellation fees and the costs for flowers. We did some investigating and contacted the other vendor. She stated that Theresa told her that we canceled first, while Theresa told us that she canceled first. When confronted, Theresa stated that she "strongly suggested" canceling but didn't actually use the words cancel. It was very manipulative. I wish Theresa was more transparent. I wish she would have communicated with me and told me her concerns, so we could have come up with a plan. We knew the storm was coming and could have made arrangements to avoid incurring extra costs. Instead, she waited until the last minute to cancel on us. She was dishonest, too, which is really disappointing. My assumption is that she knew what she was doing (telling us the vendor cancelled first, then telling the vendor that we canceled first) so she couldn't be blamed for anything. As of right now, I told Theresa that based on the dishonesty and the fact that I am being billed for cancelation fees due to her decisions, I don't feel comfortable having her move forward with the new baby shower date. I told her that the best course of action is to cut ties. I requested a refund for her hourly rate for day-of services and the grazing table, as the event hasn't happened yet. She declined stating that now, "I canceled." The irony. All in all - I do not recommend her as planner for the disorganization, dishonesty, and lack of customer service. She is not out any money. In fact, the day-of services and grazing table cost $2000, so she made out like a bandit without having to do any work. (Keep in mind that I already paid her $1000 for planning, which of course, I am not requesting a refund on.) I, on the other hand, am being billed cancellation fees and am out $2000. I'm about a month away from our due date but do plan on having this reviewed in small claims.

It did not take long at all for us to know that she was the absolute best choice for us. Clémence is incredibly friendly and holds herself to such a high standard, and that shows in the work she does. She has an entire process for planning that includes timelines of when things are to be done, vendors are to be booked, and more. Everything is laid out clearly, and she checks in regularly to make sure things are on track. These timelines start from several months before the wedding and go all the way down to the day itself. She makes it known that she wants your day to be exactly how you want it and works hard to achieve that. Whenever we had a new idea or a modification to an existing one, she was always open to hearing it and working to make it happen. We went with an Italian garden-style theme for our wedding, and Clémence executed that vision perfectly. We somehow seemed to be on the same wavelength about everything. Not only did she follow through on executing our ideas, but she also incorporated her own input that fit into the wedding and expanded on it perfectly. As first-time bride and groom, we struggled with knowing how to budget properly. Clémence helped us spend in places where it made the most sense for us and save on things we didn't need. Bit of a random anecdote, but we wanted to have pizza at the end of our afterparty. Our initial search was going to have us spending hundreds of dollars to have standard pizzas delivered to our venue. Clémence saved the day when she found an even closer shop that made heart-shaped pizzas for a fraction of the cost. As Clémence has been doing this for a while now, she's gained rapport with several vendors and was able to speak to the quality of their work and service. This took so much pressure off of us, since we didn't merely have to trust the sales pitch of whatever vendors we happened to find on our own. Once we had our vendors locked in, Clémence took care of managing timelines for each, such as when to meet with them, choosing items for the wedding, and payment schedules. Not only does she work her hardest when she's by your side, she also has your back when you don't even notice. Nearly a month after the wedding, we found out that our venue's staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful to our vendors. This forced everyone to work at 110% to compensate for the lack of assistance. However, the way Clémence handled this was with such grace and professionalism that we didn't notice, nor did any of our guests, that things weren't running smoothly. Her integrity is truly inspiring. As cheesy as it may sound, we've gained a genuine lifelong friend in Clémence. The influence and quality of her work extend far beyond wedding planning.
