Burnt cheesecake to go
Lucia D.

Get some of curate's food to go and a pig souvenir. The burnt basque cheesecake is very good.

Absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful, our food was spectacular and our bellies were full! We did the tasting menu and added a few more items to the list like the bacalao and the patatas bravas. All the wine we drank was fantastic. And Juan and Cela we're phenomenal. I highly recommend coming here with a date or a big group. It's a fun place!

La Bodega is the perfect spot to enjoy snacks. The tapas are just as good as Curate but there is a limited selection. The cafe part is upstairs with a cool bar with leather round bar stools. We have also enjoyed the jamon sandwiches to go from the downstairs area. We shared the pan con tomate with manchego, melone y jamon, the fried pork belly with the Curate table hot sauce, and the bomba, which was a fried pork ball with 3 sauces. Everything was delicious and our server was excellent and attentive.

Curate is my favorite restaurant in Asheville, so I was excited to check out their other concept. My husband and I shared: - Croquetas de Mariscos - Torreznos - Caracoles - Jamón Serrano The Carocoles was my favorite dish. Overall, nothing was bad, but it wasn't a very memorable meal. Maybe I had too high of expectations, but it didn't live up to the meal we had at Curate.

My bestie and I had the most amazing dining experience here. It looks like a little shop/carry out spot when you walk in, but a quick walk upstairs and you're feeling like you're somewhere totally different! Elsie seemed to be a veteran server, with plenty of knowledgeable recommendations (our first time with a Spanish tapas restaurant), asking questions to help us make decisions with all the amazing options on the menu. We learned much later our server had only been here a couple weeks---wow! The training here is top notch! Her knowledge and sweetest demeanor and genuine care that we had a great experience assured us that and more! From cocktails to assuring us we'd love sipping vermouth (we did!), to all our plate selections, dessert and after dinner drinks this place was amazing. Definitely recommend and do get a reservation!

This incredible restaurant has absolutely outdone themselves. Outside of Spain, I've NEVER had better pintxos (tapas) and perfectly paired wines. We got the La bodega experience (chefs menu) with the wine pairings. I had a party of 4 and we were all extremely impressed with absolutely EVERY bite. The service was absolutely top notch, Julio was so energetic, helpful and fun we absolutely loved him. I can't recommend this place enough.

Lunch Menu Saturday

We stopped here for brunch on a Saturday and easily found two spots at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and we ordered two mimosas. Our lunches were great. I'll be back for that burger ASAP. I'm already planning my next meal here. Not pictured is the croissant bread pudding with vanilla cream and butterscotch and it's probably not pictured because I got way too excited when it arrived. Thank goodness I don't live closer I would be trying to eat a plate of that bread pudding daily... it's warm and the texture is perfect plus it's the perfect sweetness, not over the top. My goodness it's good! What a beautiful spot with delicious food. I can't wait to return maybe next time for dinner.

Calamari with lentils

We chose this bistro for our ladies lunch and drove in from the mountains where we had been motorcycle riding with our husbands! We needed a break from the twisties! Beginning with cocktails, we enjoyed the city vibe and sophistication! Our waiter was professional and knowledgeable, kind, and gracious. We enjoyed the charcuterie, olives and potato chips for starters. Delish! The mains were sandwiches and the Friday special of calamari and lentils. Again, delish! The only disappointment was the "bread" pudding--more like French toast, and partly scorched. Even the waiter pointed out the burnt parts left on the plate (but didn't offer a replacement). The Basque cheesecake was perfect-- We will come back to this sun-filled second floor cafe!

We had an amazing birthday dinner for my sister-in-law at La Bodega. The gin cocktail, wine & tapas were exquisite! We shared many small plates & enjoyed them all. The pulpo was a fave. Our server was excellent. Lovely decor.

We stopped by La Bodega by Curate during our recent visit to Asheville for lunch, and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was relaxed and felt like a modern take on a traditional bar in Spain. The staff was very attentive. I ordered the vermut (my favorite) and it was so refreshing. Vermut is really the perfect drink for lunch. We tried the pintxos and the bocadillo de jamón and they were both delicious.

Hate doing this but low marks for unremarkable food. We ordered short rib enpanadas and also a large flat bread. Both were overcooked and lacked flavor. Shocking since Curaté is spectacular IMO. The staff was exemplary and the store all we had hoped. I can see hanging out when in town, but the food quality gives me reason to pause. Hopefully, it was an off day so "give 'em a whirl" and taste and see for yourself.

We came to dinner on Wednesday early evening for a curated dinner for two that we won from our wireless phone reward program. Wednesday is also paella night but that was not on our offering. Actually had been to the same upstairs dining room a few years back when it was the short-lived Nightbell. Bethany and Kate served us. Kate's white wine recommendation was spot on. Polvorete 2021 was the perfect white table wine for this menu. The upstairs dining area is attractive with a large wine/cocktail bar and a variety of seating. Even with 5 patrons at the bar it was quiet. Our selective menu included a glass of sangria, olives, salad, choice of two entrees and choice of a shared dessert. The sangria was tasty but nothing outstanding or unique. The Casa Aperitivo (olives and potato chips) was okay if you like tasty imported Spanish potato chips with your olives. The Ensalada (with gem lettuce, pistachios and other goodies) was well received and thoroughly enjoyed as was the Puplo (octopus) entree. The flavor of the seafood sauce accompanying the octopus was incredible; it complemented the fingerling potatoes and seafood perfectly. Our other entree was the Menestra de Verduras which was a glorified garbanzo bean soup-like dish. The flavors were unique and tasty, the egg on top was creamy. Unfortunately, when sharing these two dishes I encountered a taste dissonance switching between the two entrees. Therefore, we brought the latter home for next-day lunch. Finally we shared a Helado de Queso dessert. Although it was a single serving size, it was a perfect finish to our first dinner at the Bodega. I wish there were a couple more options in the appetizer/entree portion of the curate menu. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our first experience at Bodega. Recommend the salad, octopus (yes, tastes like chicken), and the ice cream dessert.

I came in for lunch on a Saturday without a reservation. This casual sandwich and small plates spot has a fun European bar feel with leather armchairs, wooden high tops, and fun art throughout. I had the charcuterie, fried sardines, and a baguette with a cider on tap. The fried sardines were super good and recommend to anyone who likes fish. They were great on the warm toasted baguette. The blue cheese was great and always love a good chorizo on the charcuterie board. If you like Curate, this is a great casual version where you can pop in to buy a bottle of wine or sliced charcuterie downstairs or dine in upstairs.

I have been here many times-mostly for pop up craft/art shows, once for a 20's themed birthday party and most importantly, for my own wedding rehearsal dinner. Renting the space for the rehearsal dinner was easy and the owners were super helpful and accommodating. Their contract is very clear and their prices are very, very reasonable! We had 50 people total for the event and when we arrived the night of the party, they had the space set up for us with their dining tables and lovely chairs arranged as well as a serving station and bar area. Their furniture is what makes this place so incredible really-they have absolutely beautiful mismatched furniture, vintage and rustic looking. This is the type of space that you see all over Pinterest. I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a small event venue for a wedding or birthday party. I wish I had better photos to add to Yelp because it really is an absolutely gorgeous space!

I was told that renting it out on a weekday is super reasonable- only $65 an hour. You can't beat that! I love hosting large parties at my home, but I can never fit the amount of guests that I want in my tiny little home. Anyway, the venue was set up in a beautiful way- full of antique and vintage furniture items. They have restrooms, but I'm not sure if they have a kitchen. I've been told that they will set up the room however you'd like it. When I was there, they had out three very long tables and I think there were about 50 of us. They have a few parking spaces but I was able to park in the alley to the right of the building. Not sure if that's allowed. I will DEFINITELY be planning my next big event here! What a fun place!

They would only offer to reschedule. We were obviously disappointed but managed to whip up a truly incredible wedding locally in Raleigh instead. We decided we wanted to have a small vow renewal next year at Homewood so we could have the ceremony we imagined while also keeping our money in the Asheville community with our vendors. We asked if they would reschedule our date and give us a partial refund as the scope of the event would be significantly reduced. They again refused, again, citing the clause in the contract. We made a completely reasonable request - requesting that we be refunded the difference between what we booked initially and what the new event would have cost and they refused it. The entire situation left a really bad taste in our mouths and now we want nothing to do with these people. They showed themselves to be cold, cynical business people. The usual irony with…read moreFreemasonry is that these devotees of sacred architecture and geometry meet so often in shabby anonymous buildings with plate glass windows and acoustic ceiling tiles. No such irony here, friends. This particular Masonic Temple is a glorious celebration of detail and craftsmanship. Even the fuse box is beautiful, sitting in plain sight in a glass box in the stairwell, like a lost Joseph Cornell piece. Each doorknob is emblazoned with symbolism in bas relief. The ceiling is expansive, with groined arches recalling classic cathedrals. The original elevator is working, although I think most Americans don't know how to use old-style elevators anymore. The staircase is wide, and recalls the "I don't give a damn" set from Gone With the Wind. The real treasure is the 3rd floor theater. A round, domed room with a curving balcony, painted in dusky pink, chalk blue, and gilt. The acoustics are great, considering the age of the building. The star of the theater is the gorgeous backdrops. So ridiculously gorgeous, they risk upstaging whomever's performing. I've heard folklore (unsubstantiated, but believable) that these backdrops, themselves, are worth millions of dollars on today's market. Layer upon layer of hand-cut, hand-painted detail, that catches the light in amazing, dramatic ways. If you've ever been to the cyclorama in Atlanta, you might recognize a similar style, although the subject matter here isn't military stuff--it's romantic, pastoral, mystical. If you ever get a chance to go to anything at the Masonic Temple, go. Just go. Drop everything and go. Find a babysitter. Cancel your appointments. Go. Especially if you know the event will take place on the 3rd floor. You will be mindblown with awesomeness.
