From proactive, detailed checklists and periodic check-ins to developing last-minute contingency rain plans, Mariah thoughtfully helped execute our vision to a T. I deal with a lot of vendors and I knew my same-day request (on a Saturday no less) would probably be met with cranky "not possible in the timeline" responses. Instead, I met Jolene on the other end of the phone. What a warm and positive person! She immediately took on my problems with grace and alacrity. She not only solved the heaters and blanket asks but also added so many details that I would never have thought of. Baskets to hold the blankets. Blankets tied with twine. Additional black napkins in case someone was wearing a dark outfit. Found local wines and beers. Just extremely thoughtful in everything she did. My event was not big or expensive. I'm from out of town so I'm probably not a repeat client (wish I could be!). And I had a very last minute weekend request. And Jolene pulled through 110%. I would trust her to plan just about anything. You'll be in the best hands.

Their personalities are MADE for wedding planning and dealing with hard to please brides. They are both soft spoken, not be to confused with push over. I had no doubt that I could plan my own wedding... IF I had unlimited time in my life to thoroughly review & interview every single vendor within a 30 mile radius! One of my favorite things is that Heather only recommends vendors that are superb. I feel that every single vendor at my wedding was the best of the best - truly! My guests have had endless compliments about it all as well, so it didn't go unnoticed. If Calluna Events could please me on the most emotionally charged event of my life with zero complaints at all, I have no doubt they can please anyone. :) You're in good hands with Calluna Events.

The morning of the event was very cold, as predicted by all of the local weather service providers. With several thousand dollars invested in the event and 26 attendees arriving at 1:00pm with the Trolley to arrive at 2:00pm. At 11:59am the morning of the event (2 hours before they are supposed to pick up the 26 guests), Brewhop sent us a text message stating that the trolley won't start and that they would have an update for us in 45 minutes. They also provided the name of a valet service we could call as a backup and noted "were still trying over here LOL". Thirty minutes later, Brewhop texted us stating "its gonna be a no go for the trolley's today" because they couldn't get them started. My wife spent the entire first hour of the big event crying and frantically trying to find any other transportation option for 26 people with less than an hour notice. We were not able to find another transportation provider in the short window and ultimately had to cancel one of the stops and one of the entertainers. When they canceled an hour before the event because of Brewhop's negligence in maintaining their vehicles, Brewhop agreed in a text message that they would refund the full thousand dollars we pre-paid. They subsequently changed their mind on a full refund and are withholding $200 citing the provision of their contract which states that $200 is non-refundable under any circumstances (even if Brew Stop cancels the service with 90-minute notice?). I'm not a fan of negative reviews, but our interaction with this company has been so absurd that I felt it would be irresponsible not to share this.

When I tell you that you should run from this company, I truly mean it. In the beginning,…read moreeverything made sense and it was super easy. I started working with them in February of 2022. I found a venue on my own, and they weren't going to send a planner with me to tour it even though it was in the contract. Weird right? I put my foot down and asked for a planner to be present as it seemed necessary since I wasn't an expert in the planning process. They sent someone fairly young but I said oh well at least she was there. Then, about 10 people were added to my portal as planners within the next two months. I had carefully selected multiple vendors during this time and curated a document with all vendors I requested they speak to for all major categories excluding videography. This was in April. In may, I asked for an update and I heard "we have not heard anything back." I let it go as our photographer was someone who actually was in contact with Ivory Events and our meeting was coordinates swiftly. This is one of two vendors that they actually followed through with. In early June, we went into contract with our photographer. I blindly didn't ask for an update with vendors due to being busy. I asked for an update in July, and heard the same response, that there was no response. In august, my anxiety peaked regarding vendor updates so I started reaching out to my original vendors on my own time. I then found out Ivory Events never reached out to my vendors. I was crushed. I demanded someone call me, especially after I got a casual response asking for my vendor list again and no ownership. It took weeks for someone from Ivory Events to call. They promised they would make it right. I should have fired them then but I gave them a chance again. They did have some effort with photography, floral, and DJ. Granted these vendors are extremely communicative and have been since I met them. They had some involvement in catering. However, the second that we ran into hurdles of a vendor not responding, Ivory events had no real plan or back up plan for what to do. Now, I'm talking 4 weeks of no response from a potential caterer and we were 8 months out so I knew this was super important. I took matters into my own hands and found a different caterer after their failed planning. At this point, I also should have fired them. Instead, I simply kept updating them on the progress I made on my own and research I did on my own. Here is a list of vendors/wedding processes I had to find and secure on my own with minimal guidance or concern from Ivory Events EVEN though it was in the contract for them to do so: Makeup, Hair, Videographer, Caterer, Wedding Dress Shopping, Tuxedo Shopping, Invitation suite, Wedding Website, Wedding Registries, Engagement photos, Save the Dates, Hotel Accomodations, and Transportation Accommodations.  Here is a list of vendors who Ivory Events contacted and initiated on my behalf: photographer, floral, and DJ. This company is nothing but a headache, and zero follow through. If you're smart, go somewhere else. Check their yelp reviews as well!!! I just discovered they were also called Seize The Day Event Planning. Those reviews are spot on to my experience.

Yikes! I hate to have to do this but it seems necessary. I started looking in to Ivory events…read morebecause they had a great track record. We're planning an event next year at The Woodlands in Morrison. I saw great reviews and a good offer from them. As usual, I spot check references, so I was excited when they told me they did 'a few weddings' at The Woodlands. So, of course I asked The Woodlands if they liked working with them. The Woodlands said, although they have weddings planned with Ivory Events, they have never worked with them. Hmmm, I thought maybe there was a mixup? So, I asked Ivory events for specifics around the events they organized. I received this rude response "We have an upcoming wedding there on 8/30/2020, but unfortunately to get the exact dates of the other weddings I have to search through our records and we cannot spend our time on that as we have to dedicate our time to planning our clients weddings. " In other words, we didn't. They are too busy to confirm that they did, at least. The venue said they didn't. I'm surprised to say the least. They have a great track record but chose to outright lie about their experience. That's a big red flag. I would have likely still worked with Ivory Events if they were honest and upfront. The fact that they were willing to lie about their experience, thinking I wouldn't look in to it, is extremely concerning. I would not recommend working with them.

Surrounded by a lovely garden, the interior of the barn/reception hall/Quonset hut was surprisingly stark and awkwardly decorated with gaudy gold cherubs and wishing wells. This was my only complaint about the venue. The farm owner talked to my party about the history of his farm and it's future development, and the chef socialized with us before dinner was served. The table was set with an endearing assortment of mismatched chargers, plates and flatware and the chef could tell the story of how he personally sourced each. The meal was served family-style: great wide bowls of freshly snipped salad greens and flowers were so thinly veiled by simple vinaigrette that the sweetness of the greens, pepper of the flowers, licorice of the fennel and snap of the stems was the star. Bread served, sourced at a nearby bakery was fresh and perfect to sop up every speck of the thick orangey Romesco sauce that held the grilled eggplant dressed with crunchy breadcrumbs in place. Roasted fingerling potatoes, slightly charred and addictively creamy almost played second fiddle to those seductive eggplant slices. Finally, wedges of an apple tart, dressed with cheddar cheese crisps and a dollop of sour cream was tasty, but did not seem to appeal to the group as it might in a more regionally amicable setting like cheesehead Wisconsin or the eastern seaboard. All in all, a simple, unfussy venue for a small wedding or a group event. The scenery and service could not be friendlier if a bit unrefined. I do hope more book this place in the future!
