I walked around to find a place to just relax and chill. I end up finding this location. It was not easy to find because the sign was only on the door. I found out that you need reservations excluding the bar. There was a couple of people leaving so we were in luck. This place makes many specialty drinks and the bar people know what they are doing. It is a lively spot with good music and the drinks are unique. I would definitely check it out again.

We went here after a baseball game. It had a speakeasy vibe and was dark and fancy feeling on the inside. We came for drinks and ended up staying for some French fries. The food and drink was definitely on the pricier side, I'd come here for a special occasion. They were busy but service was on point. Overall this place was cute and a fun spot to grab a post-game cocktail. Espresso martinis 8/10

The door to this speak easy was in the alley, quiet vibes inside with nice music playing. I love the low lighting and intimate feel. They offer small bites on the menu, since I ate at the last spot I chose not to order any. We sat at the bar and I asked the bartender to make something fruity with tequila and he worked his magic.

Fancy cocktail. I believe this one was "The Birds and the Bees"

Evening bar was a great place to start a night out in Detroit, but it would be an ideal spot for a nightcap as well. Located in the Shinola hotel, it's easy to miss when you look for it, and has a cozy speakeasy vibe once you're there. We chose our own table and were promptly greeted by a server who appeared through a sliding panel in the wall that opened up. We briefly perused the menu before choosing drinks that sounded tasty. I went with the Bird and Bee, and it was flavorful without being overpowering. Bonus points for being served in an elegant glass!

We absolutely loved stubbing upon this bar. The decor and ambiance was everything we were looking for and definitely be back.

So I found this on a whim and I was not unhappy in my decision. This is a speakeasy type of establishment. It's very dark and dim so it could be intimate so it's not for a turn up type of situation. So now, you have to find street parking because there isn't necessarily free parking downtown Detroit, but we know that. Get out of the car, there's a number place you can walk around. If you seen our reviews before, you know that I like speakeasies and hidden bars so this definitely fit the bill. You come in and it's dark like I said, but it's also pretty beautiful. They have neon lights and couches for seating as well as the bar top. I went with family and I ordered a couple Irish espresso martinis, they came out pretty decent. The bartender actually got to talk to us a little bit. So I appreciated the customer service as well. Overall, this will be a nice little duck off. If you want to find something that's a little more quiet around the city of Detroit. When I go back home I would definitely go back. I feel like we only sat at the bar and got a couple of drinks so I didn't really get to full experience as far as sitting down in the couch and lounge area and kicking back. But I did enjoy my time there.

We ended a perfect evening at the Evening Bar! We enjoyed meeting all the staff and chatting. This is a perfect spot for a romantic evening. It's dark and cozy and there are plenty of seating that is somewhat private. The drinks were fabulous. You should check it out!

Tiki Cocktails, the cherry one was wonderful.

My husband and I grabbed a last minute reservation after a cold and windy Tigers game. The Tiki Pop Up was a surprise and exactly what Downtown Detroit needs in the cold grey winter. The decor felt like you walked into old school Tiki Bar from the 50s, it was perfect. We ordered two rounds of drinks and loved them all. My husband's Favorite was the garage themed one( I'm sorry I can't remember the name) but it came in a CAT oil filter themed Tiki glass. I loved the blue Gin Martini called Model M-Martini. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without feeling rushed or hovered over. We ordered small plates of lobster rolls, and my husband said they were just as good and f not better than in Maine. We also got fried olives stuffed with blue cheese which I would absolutely order again. This was a wonderful experience and we will absolutely be back. Thank you Evening Bar.

Love the vibe here! Dimly lit and nice sexy mood. Stumbled upon the bar randomly while I was trying to find another place. Located inside the Shinola hotel. Cocktails were really good and strong. The staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend if you are looking for an intimate and chill type of night. I did not have a reservation so I sat at the bar.

Ordered a lemondrop and they did not disappoint. We didn't have reservations but were sat at the bar right away. The drink menu was impressive, kinda expensive but my drink was worth every penny.

I had higher expectations. The look and feel of the spa e was fabulous! Truly beautiful. The back room also has a fireplace that definitely sets the mood. We didn't make a reservation and clearly should have because the gentleman who greeted us seemed a bit upset despite there only being 4 others in the space and it was 5:30. We didn't try any of their food but the menu looked yummy. Not ideal for any form of mock tails though. Despite the fact that their reservation process asks about preferences of which "non alcoholic" is one. We asked for a coffee-inspired mock tail and they sent us a coffee with simple syrup

Such a bummer because they do make good cocktails occasionally. We were one and done this evening due to the bad drinks and loads of people who brought their kids to this bar. The decor is great. Downtown Detroit definitely feels different now, and the crowd has shifted a bit, but none of that took away from what The Standby is. That alleyway magic is still there. Walking in honestly felt like a little blast from the past, and it made me really happy. It ended up being a highlight of my trip home. The food was phenomenal. The crab was so buttery, the waffle situation was amazing, and the overall execution across the menu was impressive. We ordered a lot, basically half the menu and everything hit. * Short rib plate: delicious, rich, and comforting * Chicken schnitzel with curry mustard: WOW. Juicy, crunchy, fresh, perfectly seasoned. The curry mustard was everything, and that little pepper on top? 10/10. This was hands down my favorite dish. * Drinks: They had brand ambassadors for Wild Turkey, giving out free Old Fashioneds, which was honestly the perfect touch. We also had a small ounce pour of a mezcal that was beautifully smoked, super aromatic and smoky in the best way. Service was great too, we had two different servers, and both were attentive and kind. The only miss for me personally was the pastrami salmon toast. I wanted to love it so badly because I love salmon and I love smoked fish, but it just wasn't for me. I actually sent it back (which I felt bad about). I think the slight sweetness, (possibly from the tomato jam)threw it off for my palate. I was craving something fully savory with a bit of acidity. I think a thicker, crunchier toast and a more umami-forward, citrusy or pickled element might have taken it where it needed to go. That said, I know pastrami-style salmon is a thing right now, it just didn't work for me. Everything else? Truly amazing. The Standby will forever be a place I come back to when I'm home. I'm excited to return, see what's new on the menu, and relive that magic again. Highly recommend. 10 out of 10. Will absolutely be back.
