Had to come 3 times to confirm what I couldn't believe the first time I came: This is one of the best Mexican food spots in the world! Had the camarones empanizados and now the huarache de camaron. It's really hard to find a very good Mexican food restaurant in Salinas. My friends took me to this little place, at first I was very skeptical about it. The location and being such an small place, when I tried my green chilaquiles I was surprised, they were very delicious, the amour of food and the prices so affordable, not mentioning the welcoming service from the staff, the are very kind and nice. This place is BOOOMB! I've eaten at many Mexican Restaurants but Eva's is so under rated. The food may take awhile but it's worth the wait! Fresh food with fresh sauce. The huarache is the best and this is what Eva's is known for! The sauce they serve is amazing with a little spiciness. Ive been here three times so far and I can say this confidently they have the best tacos I have ever eaten. It hit all the marks that a good taco should have; 1. price 2. simplicity 3. flavor. For a buck fifty you get a big taco on a homemade soft tortilla, nice cuts of meat with cilantro and dice onions on top and grilled green onion on the side which I think its a nice touch. We have stopped here over the years every time we go through Salinas. We even searched it out as a detour destination in past years. No more. Each time the food has been less and less exciting. This time our lunch was bland, uninviting and just plain uneventful. Filling? Yes, big portions. Full stomach. But lunch is more than just packing a lot in. What about delicious? It's a hit or miss here. I've had good meals, lately not so good. It's a busy place, so they've come up with strategies to get customers in and out of there fast. I usually take out, and so the enchiladas I ordered were hard as a hard taco shell which is not acceptable because enchiladas are NOT hard at all, HARDLY any meat, hardly any avocado. We were driving through Salinas and I recalled a friend had suggested a place to eat there. I texted her and she pointed me to Eva's. It was a bit off the main streets and we almost drove by it. It's a tiny place, with only stools for seats and we were the only non locals there. We got chicken tacos, fish tacos, and burritos. All of it was delicious and all devoured by the family. I've been a consumer of this place for years and the 2 stars I am giving it, it's because of the ride service. This is not the first time I get such a bad attitude from the employees. The first time, the food was not good at all and my daughter asked for napkins and a fork and the employees told her that they cannot give more unless she paid extra wtf! We consumed not only 1 cheap thing or so but what we paid were over $70 which it wasn't worth it at all. Today, I placed an order before my lunch and I asked an approx. on how long they will take so I can leave from work and she said I can't tell you I will call you and hanged up. When I picked it up, I am asking for my order, and this girls asked me for my phone number and then she just kept quiet and I am asking how much and she just ignored me. I saw I the register machine and gave her $10. Just got to my work and my order is not like I told them. The size of the product is very small, it might look big in the picture but it's actually very small. Seemed like beans are way to expensive because barely they put. I told them I don't want red salsa, I need extra green and gave me red one. I told them not meat at all and got chicken. I do not eat any type of meat! The bottom of the huarache is burned.
