I saw this Dr. about 15 years ago, give or take, when he was @ Oak St. Medical., Eugene. In the…read moreseveral visits I had with him for my Fibromyalgia, he never ever once listened to my lungs or heart (& I have COPD). He sat in the opposite corner of the room, What? This was so uncomfortable! Well, the practice itself, Oak St. Medical, + all their affiliates, says it all. No, I'd run the other way as a new patient. I did!

Doctor Andrew Gilchrist has been my primary care provider for about a year now, and I have never…read morebeen more satisfied. Dr. Gilchrist has a profoundly sane approach to patient care including empathy, humor and access. I am able to reach my doctor any time, and receive a response almost immediately. He is available via text always and is also quite easy to schedule with. I have never (never!) had to wait to see him. Beyond being very knowledgeable, easy to talk with and amazingly kind, Dr. Gilchrist also provides a level of care that is incredible. He has dropped off prescriptions for me, been proactive with insurance issues and worked diligently to find me other providers, such as physical therapy, who are equally good. Concierge care may require new thinking at first. Paying a subscription rate on top of insurance can seem prohibitive, but when given the level of care and contact, it's actually quite a bargain. Dr. Gilchrist has seen me several times a month, as well as offered referrals, text consults and encouragement, all within my monthly cost. No copay, no additional fees, and of course all services that he refers too work with insurance as usual. It's an easy win- and genuinely adds to my health and well being to be part of his concierge practice. I would encourage anyone to get in and see Dr. Gilchrist! He's the absolute best!

My mom was brought in to the ER by ambulance following a stroke. We weren't sure what was happening…read moreand requested an MRI. It showed that she had in fact had a stroke. She was kept overnight. The next morning Dr Whitsel walked in the room and her first words were "She has dementia!" I questioned how she could diagnose it so quickly and she responded that mom was given a story to read and then asked questions about it and that she had failed the test. I continued asking questions and she said that she had 8 new patients and she would have to look over her notes. I think she should have gone over the notes before she entered the room. She has HORRIBLE bedside manner and does not like to be questioned. I would suggest you request a different doctor if she is looking at your patient.

If I could rate a negative number here, I would. 1/5 seems ridiculously generous. I can't even go…read moreinto too much detail without risking even further cardiac damage that this absolute piece of human garbage contributed to. Decided the moment she saw me that she had issues with me, it was obvious. Popped into my room throughout my week long visit at McKenzie Willamette's Progressive Care Unit (which she is somehow the 'hospitalist' for) to make weird and taunting statements while displaying a poorly disguised grin. After a procedure to save my life, she (the last time I'll assign it any human/animal pronoun) was the first face I saw while coming out from under anesthesia, telling me it was discharging me immediately. My actual cardiologist had told me I would be kept for observation. When I argued with it, it told me it was her wing and it was not going to be argued with. I stayed the night but was rushed out next day even after staff had damaged my prosthetic in the process. Yeah, I'm also an amputee. I would recommend it be stripped of title and prosecuted. It is an absolute monster and it never should have been given license to practice. Still in process of taking legal action. The ER staff were amazing. The majority of nurses on it's wing became increasingly cold and passive aggressively punitive as the week went on, and I have no doubt it was at the urging of Whitsel. F@#k Whitsel.

I have been a patient of Mahadevan for almost 8 years until recently. Doctor is very emotional…read more Raises his voice and has even yelled. Lacks empathy and it is obvious to me he wished he had picked a different specialty. I heard this about Doctor several years ago and rationalized that as long as he was a good doctor I could over look his issues. I admit I was wrong. Find another specialist. LS in Oregon

Sorry Karthik , but I suffer not being able to lay down and also breath for the pressure in my…read morechest . Its 4 am and this is the third time I've had to sit up because of the breathing problems tonight . I cant take it any more . I would be writing you directly but i tried that over and over already . The clear inference is don't breath , if it's a problem , or just sleep standing up like a horse . The medicine he gives me does not work . The medicine that works like a miracle , he withholds from me . I now care little for bedside manner if the true cause of my breathing suffering goes unmolested . If the doctor your given is not interested in the lessening of actual human suffering in arms reach , in our time in our town , then we have all lost our way . When obvious human suffering and pain goes without effective care , when such care exists , there is a breach of the most basic human contract , let alone doctor care . Some of you readers will read this posthumously , that means after it's no longer funny . The silence that he greets your story with might be confused with understanding , but you may also be disappointed , like me in the end . To know with certainty that I could lay down and sleep instead of sitting up in the middle of the night miserable , but for this dr 's choice to withhold what works , is a frustration too too .Testing my daytime breathing for my nighttime complaint as your reason to dismiss me is disingenuous . The clicking and wailing sounds my night breathing has goes unrecorded as part of his program of denial of care . I mean effective care . The other feature that did not win a place on his record about me is the fact that as i sit here now I am drenching another shirt through with sweat . Thats not right but because he wont write it down it doesn't exist . these are the games they play with supposedly YOUR record .I can only imagine he is playing this for economy of effort , care , or concern . Sweat rolling down the sides of my torso I tell you because he , my dr wont even hear me . The logo on his card is disturbingly like the peace dove the christians wave around to find each other . I'm left in the dark to solve if this is central to his failure to include me . Waving jesus at work should be illegal . when medicine lays down with religion and shirks the former lover science , its a problem . Your lung dr like this one can ignore obvious and helpful conclusions based on flawed tests so you would never even hear about the medicine that would allow you to lay dowm AND breath AT THE SAME TIME . Maybe the meaning i'm not gettiing is how dare I as a poor person expect any care let alone good care . I would be sleeping and not publishing if the care i got here met my actual medical need
