This is a casual, wonderful little place for dinner. The charming interior really feels welcoming, the food is delicious and the service was good. So many of the restaurants along and around PCH are just too noisy, crowded and just don't provide the right kind of ambience, but if you want more casual and quiet, this is a great place. The menu pricing is quite reasonable compared to other restaurants with similar dishes (eg., fish, chicken, steak), but others might charge significantly more for the same type of dish. We got the swordfish and the teriyaki We were celebrating a special occasion and we were appreciative how the restaurant made it a special night for us. For a Friday evening, in August while it probably isn't the case every week, this particular week was relatively quiet and low-key. We loved that. You could tell it's popular with locals as we could notice staff recognized and knew a number of the customers who would come in. The only aspect of the experience that I felt could have been better was the background music choices. While it wasn't playing all the time there were several song selections that could probably fit under the light 'heavy metal' music genre, just not what you might consider relaxing or romantic, more noise than anything, didn't bother us though. We recently learned of this place, run by the very friendly and talented Evan. When entering I was pleased to hear live music: a talented singer and guitar player (see photo). My wife and I shared crab cakes, Steak Frites and Chilean Sea Bass. It was an enjoyable evening and I'm glad my friends took me here. read more

What an amazing hidden gem! This is such a sweet and special place! It's small and cozy. Perfect for an intimate dinner and makes me feel like I'm in a sweet bistro in Europe. Food is great, service is friendly. Everything comes out perfectly seasoned and piping hot (my favorite)! read more

I am dreaming of the BBQ shrimp as I write this, specifically the sauce. I reserved a table at 5pm on a Thursday, the reservation was not needed but hopefully they'll be filled to capacity soon because this place is GREAT.. the service, the decor, the FOOD! The sea bass was cooked & seasoned well, the coconut rice was really good. We also had a dinner salad which was so fresh & light (& I am not a fan of arugula.. at least I didn't think I was?) We had a FABULOUS dining experience at Evans Gourmet! Charming atmosphere that felt casual and upscale at the same time. The asparagus cigars are a must. Stopped in here last night with my wife for an anniversary dinner. We were looking for a casual, low-key, neighborhood place. What a fantastic find! The food preparation was outstanding. I had the filet with crab cakes and my wife had the sea bass. Both done to perfection. Our server was super-attentive and very friendly. In addition, the live music on Saturdays is a great touch. Great artist that gave the place a nice vibe. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend. So we had been meaning to go back to Evan's for a few month's. Let's just say we weren't disappointed! Started off with the Crab Cakes with the Jalepeno Tarter Sauce that was awesome. For dinner we had the Steak Frites and the Grilled Chicken. I know my wife enjoyed the Chicken, but I have to say the Steak, coupled with Evan's incredible fries, was in the top 10 best steaks I ever had! The food is outstanding...this last time Tracy assured me that I should have the potato pancakes with my burger and they were absolutely delicious!! I came here with my husband last night after a candlelight concert at the church a block away. The food was delicious. I had the best chicken dijon I think I've ever had. If you havent had Evan's Epic food then you need to come to her new restaurant , formally cafe Zoolo and the Roo down off of Thalia. Already a local favorite for all the reasons of amazing food. To mention the service is dynamite and second to none. The staff is super nice personable and very efficient. There is a trend of seafood at this location through the decades and now it has just gone to a new level. From the asparagus cigars to the Sea bass, chicken dijon all the way to the lemon cake , Yum ! We were looking for a restaurant near Neighborhood Church to eat before an Opera Laguna concert. Evan's Gourmet popped up just a block away. We made a reservation, but it wasn't needed early that evening. It's a cozy spot a block off PCH on Glenneyre, so you need to seek it out. There was plenty of street parking. There are only about 10 tables plus the bar and a limited menu, but we found a lot to like. We got appetizers (my crabcake was excellent) and split a salad, which was dressed with subtle flavor. When we walked by after the concert, it had filled up. I realized that I had eaten at Evan's Gourmet Bistro at the Sawdust Festival and really enjoyed it. We love Evan Gourmet as our neighborhood go-to restaurant where everyone is friendly, especially Traci, and the food is delicious. We really enjoy sitting at the counter while talking to and watching the chefs create the dishes. They have the best burgers ever; the crabcakes are outstanding with the jalapeño tartar sauce and the lobster bisque is delicious too. Evan is a splendid chef. We have been enjoying her cuisine for years. We are happy that she has a restaurant year round that we can enjoy now! We had the specials: yummy corned beef hash with poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and pan fried potatoes, and a delicious corned beef Reuben sandwich.
