Went for lunch and the food was awesome! Had GLUTEN FREE mahi-mahi and it was so much food. Call to ask for gf because I don't think I saw it listed. This place is small and does not look like much but my goodness, IT WAS DELICIOUS!! We got the cod + chips, steak + ale pie, & scotch egg. They were all perfectly seasoned but my personal favorite was cod & chips. I literally begged my partner to come back that night (he said no) but I swear I will make my way back here. Chips were perfectly soft inside and crispy and salty. But the cod- I always hated cod because it tasted fishy but this was amazing!! Flaky, crispy and moist!! If you're looking for a place to sit down and eat, you may want to keep searching. This is a counter service, carry out kind of place. Ideal if you're wanting to grab a quick bite to take and enjoy elsewhere. I tried the cod and chips and the scotch egg. Everything was delicious! The fish and chips wasn't sitting around under a heat lamp. I placed my order, and the friendly guy working the counter told me it'd be ready in about 6 minutes. The cook started my order and the two of them had a quick and efficient system! I didn't time them, but I'm sure his estimate was correct. The order was packaged properly and even included a lemon wedge for the fish, a nice touch! The order included a choice of sauce. I went with the HP sauce, and it was on point! The scotch egg was delicious as well! If you're not familiar, that's a cooked egg wrapped in sausage. There were numerous options in a display case for the extras such as hand pies and sausage rolls. This little place doesn't look like much from the outside (it does have a fresh coat of paint), but golly, the fish and chips is outstanding! No dining inside, but there are three small tables outside (in the alley). The fish is very fresh, both the cod and the mahi. The batter is very fluffy and just the right amount. The fish is prepared fresh when you order. We were at an off time, so it took 5-10 minutes to fry. If there is a line, it probably takes a bit longer. Not greasy at all, and both the tarter sauce and red dragon sauce are very tasty. Generous pieces of fish and very large order of fries. If you are in Flagstaff, this is a must do place. Fresh, quick food in downtown Flagstaff. Our cod was delightfully crispy and cooked perfectly. Chips are on the thick side, like I remember from the UK, but were crispy and delicious. My son got hooked on meat pies when we were in Australia a couple years ago, and he devoured Evan's steak and ale pie like we were back in Oz. Maybe they just had a bad day in the kitchen. Just recently moved to Flagstaff a few months ago, wife and I looking for fish/chip place, Evans came highly recommended. Wife and I ordered takeout about 2 months ago, was on the scale of good to excellent food, at the time we would definitely revisit again someday. Couldn't wait to try again, ordered takeout on 8/18/2023. What happened Evan? Not the same. Fish over breaded and rubbery to the taste, same with the shrimp, missing sauces that should have been included in each order. I think my wife and I could give it another try someday. Love this place so much and the owner is such a nice guy! We had the chicken curry pie, steak and ale pie, fish and chips, shrimp and chips, sausage roll, and sticky toffee pudding! Everything was perfect. Best fish and chips we have ever had. The pies have such a flaky well-cooked crust. Sausage roll was delicious! We tried ALL the sauces and they are ALL amazing! The food here is amazing! I haven't had fish and chips like that probably since I've been in Scotland. They make true proper chips, and the fish was crispy and juicy.
