EU has good seafood dishes and sides. I find my only issue is I feel they are overpriced on simple items like whiting, shrimps and wings. I've had a couple catering orders from them as well. The food is well made and tastes good. The service is good and they are friendly. I recommend but know it's not cheap. read more

My spirit needed comfort and I wanted to put my money into a black owned restaurant. I'm so thankful this spot is not far from home. All I wanted was some fried whiting and they delivered. Service was quick (they gave me an estimate of time for my food to be ready and it was right on time). The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are perfect. The whiting was health sizes of fish and who doesn't love a crinkle fry! The fish was not greasy but well seasoned and lightly breaded. It has been a while since I've been able to order an uptown, typically you have to give instructions.. nope, not here. Seeing it on the menu brought me joy. Popping in here was the highlight of my day. There's parking in the back and they are following social distancing guidelines. I can't wait to go back next week. Great addition to the Somerset/New Brunswick area!! Nice and bright.. love how it is decorated with pictures of beautiful African-American culture. Service was friendly and with a smile. My grandparents got the fried catfish platter with two sides of fries, potato salad, and collard greens and they sang its praises! My mom loves their wings. I got some of the banana pudding which was out of this world good. Can't wait to return and try other items on the menu! read more

We decided to order dinner from here on Tuesday night for $50 cent wings! My husband was a little bummed to find out they were out of bonless. We ordered bone in plain (for my 4-year old), garlic Parmesan, lemon pepper and sweet chili. My husband said he preferred the lemon pepper va the garlic parm. We also ordered Mac and cheese for my 2 year old, collard greens and potato salad. All sides were so tasty and definitely worth coming back for. Everyone was nice at pick up. I've ordered a 10 piece chicken wing combo with Mac n cheese collard greens and sweet yams lemonade as a drink . For dessert banana pudding . The wings I have ordered were lemon pepper and OMG sauce . Both were delicious . Omg being more of a buffalo flavored sauce . I do wish that they separated the two flavors by placing the other set of wings on a different parchment paper inside the container so that the flavors do not mix ( which is what happened in my case) . When it came to the sides I enjoyed the Mac and cheese which was OK and the collard greens I'm sure would have been better with pork(but most do not eat pork) so I say it was good . Only thing I didn't like was the sweet yams. I prefer my yams in chunks or large pieces rather than being puréed however good flavor . for dessert I had banana pudding but to be honest I just dont like soggy vanilla wafers so that maybe a preference as well. as per taste it was just ehhhh . I frequent EU's a couple of times a month for their lunch specials as it is in close proximity to my job. I usually just get the seafood rice which is amazing by the way, but today I was in the mood for some wings. My mom always orders the lemon pepper wings and raves about them and after today, I know why! Omg! They were so good! The skin was crispy and the lemon pepper flavor was on point. I was so impressed, I had to call and give the owner, EU a compliment on them lol. The customer service is always great and I'm happy to have such a nice establishment so close to my home and job . I've been over there twice this week. That should say something lol. I've been wanting a soul food restaurant in the area for so long. There are a couple Caribbean spots around but I've had my issues them so I figured I wouldn't have anymore good soul food from the area. This place changed my mind! I've had wings, catfish, mac & cheese and broccoli with cheese. I can't wait for the weekend because I'm definitely going to get ANOTHER meal from there. The staff is friendly and they don't mind making a substitution to make your meal perfect. You get your food pretty quickly considering they make most of their food to order. With everything that's going on in the world today, it was just really refreshing to get a good meal for a good price. Not fast food, not pizza but a MEAL. I will never say that the food isn't good because it is BUT!!! When I called to place a pick up order the person who answered the phone was very rude and when I told my husband he stated that when he had placed a previous order the person who took his order was rude as well!! Why? I don't understand when we are bringing business to your establishment!? To make things worse when I went to pick up my order I'm almost sure the same person who answered the phone was yet again rude again. I will never say that that food is bad so great job to the Chef.. But there should be better customer service answering the phone as well as pick up service because if not what is the point of even purchasing from this establishment!!? read more

My family and I have purchased food here numerous times before trying to help small black businesses. However today, I made an order through Grubhub well in advance. Was given a pick up time when I arrived to pick up the order I was first told they gave the order away then was told that they never received a grubhub order? Someone here is lying.
