Attended an event here last night and the facility is beautiful and super clean, which I appreciated. However, the food was subpar. The penne was watery and flavorless, and the steak was well seasoned, but more chewy than gum (I had to cut it into micro sized pieces to even be able to eat). The dinner rolls were pretty good and the pita and hummus and pepper jack cheese served during cocktail hour were legit, so that's what I survived on. I have to give them credit that their displays were gorgeous, especially the one for dessert. read more

A very beautiful place but the food was terrible. The bar actually had real name brand liquor but the food was cold and the staff didn't seem to care. Every time you asked for something they would have to get a translator and it just took forever. The beef was so bad you couldn't cut it and 8 people at my table were very disappointed. Attended a party last night and overall a decent spot to host your party. The staff is very welcoming and takes good care of their guests. They definitely need to help their staff to become Culture aware. The halls are split up in 3 different areas and they opened the seating area almost 90mins after party started. The other 2 areas are split in a unique way that one area will always be overcrowded. On top of that there is hardly any seating in the smaller halls. They had approx 10 servers who could have been optimized to serve guests from the get go with seating. Another area to work on is serving your guests with a smile, and making them feel good instead of a frown. For the price they charge, they need to up their game on several fronts. read more

Let me start by saying Thank You to Lisa - she worked with us throughout the entire pandemic and pre-pandemic & through 3 different wedding dates. She was accommodating, polite, and very pleasant to work with. I would have another party/wedding/event because it was beautiful & the guests LOVED IT. The event I attended had another event at the same time and the main issue was parking. There were not enough spots for both event attendees. I arrived an hour into my event; maybe if I'd come on time the spots would have been more available but the response on the part of the parking attendants was borderline aggressive-you must valet or leave, Unlike more urban venues there was really nowhere else to park. Inside I went to grab some hors d'oeuvres as the host offered, again I was late but felt like I was pushed aside or at minimum invisible as an employee, who was very focused on packing up the leftovers of an item I was inspecting. I decided the person wanted that item much more than me and let them have it which is fine and appreciate the no waste model even if excuse me would have been a more polite response. Then at dinner they took our orders 4x albeit, the food arrived correctly. And the event was lovely. So I suggest get a good price and voice these logistics toward managing the potential hiccups. read more

Went for a wedding last weekend at The Marigold in Somerset NJ. The venue is beautiful with beautiful places for pictures. Food was fantastic and staff was amazing. Although it was raining the Valet staff made sure we didn't get wet. One Valet Attendant even helped me get my elderly mom out of our car and into the venue. She went above and beyond to accommodate us by not rushing us and getting my family and I inside. Then after the wedding was over, a different attendant helped us into our vehicle with my mom and children and would not even accept a tip from us. It was truly a great experience. Thanks. read more

My daughter's Sweet Sixteen was two years of planning and was truly a success. With the Covid-19 pandemic looming quickly, March 13, 2020 was the last function they had before closing. It may have been Friday the 13th, but the party was phenomenal. The decor is breathtaking and the food was fabulous. The chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and they even made my daughter's cake - light yellow cake with lemon mousse filling. Yum. They even packed up the top for us to take home just like at a wedding! The hor d'oeuvres were so good, people were hoarding them and the drinks flowed...every staff member was nicer than nice and treated all our guests like they were special and gave my daughter and her court the royal treatment - my husband and me too. Their Audio-visual equipment was definitely par and helped set the scene when we played the video montage. I would love to have another party here or even just be invited to a party here. I hope they have an open house party when they open back up. That would be amazing! Much, much better than the Palace or the Imperia for many reasons including: location, price, decor, staff friendliness, use of a beautiful suite, and of course Lisa who helped me beyond measure to make sure our event went off without a hitch. When looking at venues to have our wedding the Marigold was a last minute possibility when my fiancé found it. We had already received prices and offers from other venues but she fell in love with their chandeliers in the main ballroom. She asked me if we could check it out and we did. She emailed the staff their and informed them what we were looking for and when. It was a for a date that was around 6 months out at the time. We also forwarded the exact offers we had to the staff and simply asked can you match this, because if not we do not want to waste your nor our time. The staff reviewed the offer and stated that they could. We toured the place and it was very nice. They put a good amount of care into decorating this place. We viewed the ballroom we would have it in and the place we would have the cocktail hour. After we sat upstairs and discussed what we would need and what we could match. Our original offer had a 200 person guarantee. We were told that we could have the matched offer but we would have to guarantee 240 and if we didn't make that we could add different food options to meet the price. So we stayed in contact and even reviewed the menu they offered us and took items off the menu because we felt like we were getting more and where trying to just make it as fair as possible. They seemed appreciative of us cutting things. This was all great and we started to think this is where we would get married but it went downhill once we asked for an offer and wanted it in writing so we could sign it and go from there. After a few days of silence (I get people take days off, but it was longer than that) we heard back that they could no longer honor the discussed stipulations. The reply we received stated that the sales manager had just talked to upper management and they stated that they would not budge on the 275 person minimum for the main ballroom and that we could have the wedding in the smaller space. Which would have been one thing to be upset about but the problem was we were told that while the smaller space can accommodate our expected wedding size of around 250 people with a dance floor, it could only seat 220. So basically what they were saying is your party won't fit comfortably and if you want it to you have to pay for the extra people. Taking into consideration that with an approximate 6 month window, you can't expect the same rate of people to be able to come which is why we had a 200 person minimum with our original offer and were hesitant about a 240 person minimum. When we asked our contact about this, upset about how this was something that seemed out of the blue since we were told we could have our offer matched so we figured that was cleared by upper management, she sent a simple one word email answer of "sorry". I felt like this was a total bait and switch. They should have known what they could and couldn't have done and I feel like waiting to the absolute last minute to bring that up was poor business practice. My fiancée was upset and I bet they were banking on once we were invested enough to sign a contract it would be hard to turn it down if they made changes but alas we will not be getting married here and if you consider this place make sure you get everything in writing and have the owner or upper management sign off on it beforehand so they don't pull any shady stuff on you. read more

Was a guest at a wedding & reception here this past weekend, so my review will be entirely from that perspective; I have no idea what prices or customer service look like. The lobby is dominated by a grand staircase as soon as you enter with a player piano directly to the left. It provided a very nice backdrop for a number of photos throughout the evening. From the main lobby there was a room in use on the right, and two fairly large rooms on the left used by our party. The larger room was used for both the service and dinner reception, with the staff doing a remarkable job switching the room over during the cocktail hour (and then the cocktail hour room was switched over to the buffet during the 1st hour of the reception). There were a lot of moving parts going on behind the scene, and the staff was very unobtrusive and thorough. The cocktail hour was beautiful, with a number of pre-prepared appetizer on display to go along with the standard hors d'oeuvres servers were making the rounds with, as well as a dosa station. The bar was understaffed and lines for drinks were incredibly long, although that seemed to be largely due to the quality and competence of 2 of the 3 bartenders. Dinner was delicious, featuring an eclectic mix of cuisine matching the bride & groom's heritage. While the menu focused largely on the Indian dishes the Marigold specializes in, it also included a few continental dishes as well as a large serving center of Chicken Tikka Masala (or as I like to explain it, the California Roll of Indian food) for the less adventurous Caucasian guests. Desert featured a large self serve rasmalai, mango custard & of course wedding cake. The one drawback was the close proximity of the other party booked that night (a sweet 16) combined with the statum-level sound systems both rooms were employing meant that we were straining to hear speeches of the bass pumping out of their room, and I'm certain they were having the same issue with us. Stepping into the lobby could lead to a sensory overload with numerous guests and songs swirling together. It also lead to crowded restrooms, although they were well maintained and were obviously being attended to throughout the evening. Still, for my money, if I were booking my very special event, I would rather not have another event in such close proximity encroaching on it. Despite the crowd and the headache going out the door, the Marigold is a lovely facility with a professional front-line staff. I would not mind attending another event there in the least. read more

The Marigold is a lovely venue for a wedding reception. Last night, we attended our friend's reception here and we were impressed by the place. As we drove into the compound, there was plenty of parking in the lot. It was only after we parked and walked up to the venue that we realized there was also a valet service available. It would benefit them to place signs closer to the entrance and let arriving guests know where to head for valet. Since the weather was nice yesterday, it was not a huge deal but when the temperature gets uncomfortable or the conditions outside are bad, I'm sure the valet will be all the much more desirable. When you walk in through the main doors, you immediately notice the grand staircase right in front of you and a spacious foyer to mingle while waiting for the doors to your party's reserved space opens up (as was the case last night). It is also nicely lit with a grand chandelier hanging overhead and there are some seats available for those who may need to rest their feet. The cocktail reception area to the right was where we started the evening last night and it was also roomy enough to easily accommodate a few hundred guests. There was also a bar in the back of the front room and 3 bartenders efficiently and politely served up beverages of our choice. The bar was well stocked but beware the standard weak pour unless you instruct otherwise. The (Northern Indian) cocktail hour food was pretty good but short of spectacular. They had about 4 stations, with each serving something a little different. Perhaps it would have been more sensible to mix up/combine what was available at each station so guests wouldn't have to get into line 4 different times just to try out the various dishes. As the dinner party started, we walked into a spacious room with a large wooden dance floor dominating the center of the room with both sides flanked by several round tables on each side of the room. Our table easily accommodated 8 adults + 3 children and we didn't feel cramped. We also didn't feel like we were too close to the neighboring tables so mingling and walking about were easy. This room, too, was beautifully lit and the decorations were understated but classy. The dinner service was buffet-style with one island from which you could take food from both sides. The food was delicious...with one complaint. By the time it was our table's turn to get in line, the meat dishes were both just curry as all the meat had been fished out. Had staffers been closer by or checked more frequently, that could have been averted. However, no staffer was in sight so we had no idea if a fresh pot of those 2 dishes were coming out soon or not. Therefore, we just ladled the curry itself onto our plates and "made do". It should be noted than when I walked through a little while later, I noticed them dumping fresh pots of curry into what appeared to be already halfway full containers. By then, however, all the tables had already taken their food and there was absolutely no one in line for food. I was tempted to grab a plate to see what I had missed the 1st time through but I was already full and thought better of it. if you need to freshen up, the restrooms are very well maintained and are spacious and attractive. I can see The Marigold becoming an increasingly popular venue in this part of New Jersey if they can keep up the things they're already good at and make some easy tweaks to improve on a few minor things. read more

We hosted our daughter's bat mitzvah at The Marigold on June 9th in the afternoon. We had 135 guests. The food was amazing and the service staff so attentive. Julie and Marsella, our Maitre D's, kept our event running smoothly. Two of my favorite areas are the magnificent foyer and the beautiful, serene bathrooms. Was here for a wedding. The wedding itself was lovely, and the venue was very traditionally pretty, sophisticated, clean, and well-lit. The chandeliers were quite stunning. However, the staff as a whole was a little on the pushy and impolite side (bartenders were great though), the service for the main meal was completely disorganized, and by the time everyone at our table got their meals our food was lukewarm. The food itself was very tasty, but the way dinner, coffee, and dessert were served was really rough. Maybe some of the folks that night were not their regular staff? I say that because they didn't seem to know their own menu/kitchen, and even though one woman took our orders, no one who served our meal seemed to know who had what. My sister and a few others ordered the chateaubriand, and the waiter didn't know what it was (even though it was written on the menu as the first option), so they all simplified it and said beef. The poor folks who ordered the chicken got their meals a good 15 minutes after the rest of us. When my order was placed (vegetarian, and a few other folks at different tables ordered it too), our waiter seemed confused and unsure if it was even available. When it did come out, it was incomplete, and we had to ask 5 different staff members for the sauce it was supposed to be cooked in (1 person even saying that it wasn't available), any sauce at all, or at least butter. A manager finally came out and all of us who ordered the veggie meal were given sauce similar to what was described on the menu. I may add more detail to this post later, but in summary: it is a nice but not fantastic venue, but it does have the potential to be so much better. read more

This venue should have 10 stars. We hosted our daughter's wedding 11/24/18 for both Hindu ceremony and reception. We had the entire venue for ourselves. What a venue to celebrate such an event! It is an event to remember for years and years to come. We received numerous compliments for choosing this venue. It is an exceptional venue in everything. The maitre d and crew were beyond expected.
