House made Pastrami was delicious-go with the 1 lb (buy the pound) Pastrami sandwich -at least 2 if not 3 sandwiches in one. Corned Beef was also tasty and some of the best we've had. Latkas and Dill potato salad hit the spot but the Garlic Dill fries stole the show-one of a kind and not to be missed. For dessert, we saw they had Hamantaschen and got one of each-both very good with rich fruit spread topping. Service was engaged and patient (given our questions and recommendation requests) as our order was being placed. An extensive menu with everything from Beef tongue sandwich (Jewbano) to Chicken Liver as well Hot Dogs and Smoked Salmon and Whitefish. We wanted it all! Liked the atmosphere and decor with booth and bar stool seating. A must stop when visiting Richmond!

As a vegetarian, I do wish they had more options, although the staff has always been accommodating. My go-to is the Schnorrer with scrambled eggs and a potato latke, which is always a solid choice and even includes coffee. Their bagels are absolutely to die for! I always get the everything bagel with regular schmear, and it's delicious. I've also tried the vegetable knish, which was okay, but not something I'd order again. The sandwiches always look amazing, and I really wish they offered a vegetarian version. Overall, a great Richmond staple with good food, but the limited vegetarian options and difficult parking do affect my rating!

New York Deli in RVA was such a good find. We were at VMFA and got hungry. We didn't have a plan…read moreand did a quick search and landed on New York Deli. I was initially impressed by the large space and was not disappointed by anything. Friday early afternoon vibes were perfect. Mike (I'm terrible with names so I hope that's correct but he was left handed) was our server and he was great! Everyone was attentive and kind. Honestly I wish I lived closer because the food was amazing and I would love to try at least half the menu and the atmosphere was great. Also this is my first yelp review I felt inclined to sing their praises.

We went to this place for the first time tonight and OMG‼…read more RUN....do not walk to the New York Deli!!! It's right next to the Byrd Theater so it was perfect for dinner after a movie. Our server was Braxton, a delightful young lady. She was witty and a diligent server and all the things...and she did not steer us wrong when it came to the food. My husband and I both had a taste for ordering an Italian sub and Braxton said we would not be sorry if we ordered it, and we were not. I was literally moaning with almost every bite. I am a potato salad connoisseur. I will not eat it unless it is freshly made. I don't do any of the grocery store type of potato salads. (Gross!) I asked Braxton about it and she said that in general, she doesn't even like potato salad, but at this restaurant, she absolutely loves it and highly recommends it. Knowing it is freshly made on site, plus her recommendation, I decided to try it. Oh my word! This potato salad is straight from the portals of heaven. Sooooooo good. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a very big deal to me. I like freshly brewed tea. Nothing bottled. Nothing out of a soda machine. (Disgusting!) I asked Braxton if the tea was actually brewed there and she said yes. Tea is not the same everywhere. Sometimes it's so weak, you don't even realize it's tea. Not here! It was perfect. This makes a huge difference to me as when my beverage is perfect, I enjoy my meal a lot more. The entire meal was top notch. The service was absolutely excellent. We loved having Braxton and would ask for her again. A DJ was setting up as we were eating. We learned that they have karaoke and trivia nights earlier in the week as well as dance nights on the weekends. My husband and I mentioned that we would definitely come back and bring friends. I loved my experience here and it could not have been made any better by anything.

The staff were the embodiment of kindness and hospitality. They treated us so well. We got lunch while there, at their deli in the back, and wow it was delicious. I got the kofta combo and we split the konafa for a dessert and I cannot recommend both of those dishes enough. It was fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. And I got an iced pistachio latte, which was fantastic. My boyfriend got a chicken shawarma wrap & fries and he loved it. They have a seating section in the back that is cozy and humble, and another seating section in the front that looks like a tea room to me. As we were waiting for our food to come out a sign at the deli caught my eye, it said: if you're hungry and you can't pay for the food it's free. My eyes welled up with emotion seeing such a kind gesture at this business, it shows you they have good hearts (as well as good taste). The market itself was tantalizing, so many marvelous things to pick from, and foods that you can't easily find around here. Much of the products made in Palestine, Lebanon, Turkey, and America. Lots of good coffees, teas, spices, olive oil, sweets, frozen dinner foods, on and on! You MUST go check this place out asap!! Jerusalem market has been on my list for a while, and we liked it so much there that we plan to keep going back. They made us feel like family. They sell subs, salads, wings, wraps, kabobs, hummus and more. My favorite days to go are Mondays and Tuesdays when they do their $8.99 special which is a sub or wrap with fries. I always get the philli cheese and it is awesome, but today my friend and I wanted to try the chicken shawarma and gyro wrap. Both were delicious, but I did ask for some tzatziki sauce to dip the chicken shawarma wrap. I ended this visit with some baklava and I loved it. The staff is friendly and nice and it's a nifty little place to enjoy a good lunch or dinner. I am definitely going to continue coming here.
