This is an old school restaurant with the food and service to match. I didn't get the servers name, but she was "excellent". They have several people offering drink refills etc..... Wonderful place to eat! It's a supersized diner! So many things to choose from. It was packed, so getting service at first was a bit slow. Totally worth it! I like that they have a dedicated person that goes around and does the drinks. I got there just prior to 8am. I was pretty much ignored. I sat with a group of people I knew and continued to be ignored until I finally got the attention of a waitress and ask for a menu. She knew I was sitting there as she was serving other members of the group. I ordered off the early bird menu and was never told that I was to late for that price. When I got my ticket I was charged almost $5 more the special price because when I questioned it was told I did not order before 8. I was there before 8 and trying to order. My friend Jane knows all the good breakfast places. This place is pretty good, it has all the homey classic breakfast items. Lunch is pretty standard but definitely nothing to turn your nose up at it. It was a mostly an older crowd, mostly considering it was mid morning in a week day. The service was attentive and quick. Really nice ladies. I got my usual breakfast order: veggie omelette; side of corned beef hash; white toast That that omelet was pretty big and the corned beef exactly what was expected (that's a good thing). The salsa was extra like $1.80 but when she gave me a bowl with enough salsa to feed like 5 kids I understood. My friend got the corned beef has platter, ignore hers, she likes her eggs scrambled hard. Only critique is the salmon cake that I ordered was dry and had way way WAY too much filler. Almost to the point I thought it was an accident in the kitchen. I know times are hard out here and you gotta make stuff stretch but come on it's not the great depression. Visiting the area, I think it's safe to say we found the town's go-to breakfast restaurant. It's a pretty huge restaurant with three separate dining rooms and it felt like everyone in town was essentially there, a sign of a good thing. A fairly old building with old decor, I can tell this is a staple that's lasted for years. A solid breakfast option for sure with good food. Nothing really spectacular, but all done very well. The Cold Harbor Combo is the classic egg & meat combo but actually with BOTH bacon and sausage (typically you'd have to choose one or the other); very decent price at $10 and you get biscuits and very well seasoned hash browns. The service was great even with a million people, you can tell they have a machine going as far as service process and the bustling of it. What's dope was their buffet option where you just see mounds of eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits etc constantly being replaced with fresh bowls/pans of food. Recommend this staple for sure. read more

We had breakfast here on a whim and I can say it did not disappoint. It may look suspicious on the outside, but the restaurant is kind of like a grandmas house feel. There's Knick knacks and what not on the wall and the small wooden tables with meal portions that a grandma would serve up. We had wafflles, an omelet and bacon. They seated our group near the big front window which was very nice. I ordered one of Thursday specials Grilled Chicken Salad, it was truly an amazing salad with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots & grilled chicken strips. I used French dressing which was good as well. I have eaten at Cold Harbour Restaurant with my mom quite a while ago. My family at their pretty regular in the early 2000's. The room was filled with other community groups having lunch together. The young lady that had that entire room to wait on was truly fabulous, she has worked there for quite some time, she was very professional with all that were in that were there to be waited on. Additionally, I ordered the Spanish Omelette and French Fries. To go. French Fries first, as soon as I got in the car. I don't specifically recall how good they were, but I ate them all in one sitting. So that's a pretty good endorsement. We visited on a Sunday, since it was too late for our usual haunts for breakfast. This restaurant is like something out of time. You walk in through a short narrow entrance passage, which also serves a queuing area. and the decor is circa 1970, with beaucoups of tables and booths filling the floor -- all full. There is a second room that appears to be available for groups, but this too was full of after-churchers enjoying a meal. The restaurant offers a really decent breakfast buffet, with lots of protein and carb options. We arrived 45 minutes before the buffet closed and were concerned that we'd probably be limited to the last bits of the food there. Not so! We witnessed staff refilling the steam table trays right up til the end. Maybe longer -- my wife was filled to satisfgaction long before the portions ran out! I was not in a breakfast mood, so I ordered a club sandwich. The server responded, "Which one? We have four!" I mean seriously, what restaurant has four different club sandwiches? Answer -- a restaurant that wants to make its customers happy! I opted for the "american club" which has ham, turkey, and bacon among other things. It was seriously the biggest club sandwich I have ever been served. And very well put together too. Standing in line at the register to pay the bill, numerous customers were chatting each other up, all in good moods. Who could be down after a great meal? I have been coming to this restaurant over 5 years - We eat here weekly - However, the food is passable and now the management has established herself as someone who cares very little about her customers or is friendly in any way. My girlfriend and I will not be back - I can't believe the owner's attitude because I asked for extra butter (willing to pay) or have my eggs made a certain way. The owner cares more about how quickly to turn a table than engage and maintain her longstanding customers.
