It was busy when my friend and I walked in during lunch. Seating is available inside and outside. The restaurant has modern decorations and the menu is on the board. We waited in line, someone took our order behind the display case of sweets and then we paid the cashier. I got the Ahi Tuna Salad and three macaroons. ::Food:: I got six big slices of Ahi Tuna, it was seared perfectly. The salad had red bell peppers, carrots, and spinach etc; it tasted fresh. My friend and I came here for brunch last week, and it's an adorable little spot on Colorado across from Old Paseo. There are two locations. I prefer this one because it's bigger, brighter, and cleaner-looking. I tried the famous egg salad sandwich on rosemary currant, and my friend had the seared chicken sandwich. Both were delicious! The egg salad sandwich was so fresh, and the medium cooked eggs were definitely unique. The sweet currants with the sun dried tomato paste added a little extra punch. It's more filling than you'd think. My friend's seared chicken sandwich was also tasty and full of flavor. Very welcoming and open atmosphere with tables outside and inside if you have time for a break to get some coffee, munch on a macaron and people watch. I love the storefront - very light with lots of tables and chairs to sit on as well as bread and pastries crammed into the display if you want to get a sandwich or simply buy bread. But I came here with the sole intention of buying a few of their giant macarons. I was volunteering a few blocks down so I decided to walk to Euro Pane and grab one macaron. But of course buying just one is so difficult when there are tons of flavors. And I haven't had a macaron this big before, so ... I took advantage of my visit and bought three. In all honestly, I bought them awhile back and the only flavor I remember is the salted caramel. I think the other flavors I tried were passion fruit and blackberry. Each one is $1.85 - a steal compared to Bottega's $2.50 for one that is way smaller than Euro Pane's. Surprisingly they were very tasty for such a gigantic macaron. The two cookies were soft and chewy (which is what I like) and the filling had the right amount of gooeyness that I like. Great caramel flavor that was not too sweet and not too salty. The passion fruit wasn't memorable, but I did like the blackberry - more of a sour taste compared to the salted macaron. Didn't get the sandwiches, but they do look tasty. In the area and decided to grab lunch. Parked a block away at a meter. Placed my order at register and was told they would bring it to me. Clerks were Friendly. They have tables for 2 and a large communal table. Grabbed a seat at the communal table. Ordered the Open Faced Egg Salad on Multigrain. The Egg Salad is fresh, fluffy and plenty of eggs. BUT I DISLIKED the sun dried tomato spread combined with the Egg Salad; not pleasing to my taste buds. However, the Multigrain bread was toasted and fresh, too. So I basically ate the Egg Salad separate from the sun dried tomato Toast. Overall, service friendly and items are fresh. Would return to try other items. read more

Great place to stop by to study/hangout over some desserts and coffee! I visited this place with my girlfriend and we came an hour before closing time so we didn't have a wide variety of selections for their pastries and desserts. We did end up sharing a chocolate macaron and their lemon pie/tart. I would definitely recommend the chocolate macaron. They did not skimp on the chocolate filling and it was pretty rich in flavor. The lemon pie was ok... The crust was a little thick and I was hoping for more lemon flavor with the filling. Parking is free on Sundays and the place was beautiful! I love their open face egg salad sandwich! Food 4/5 stars: I really should have ordered just a green salad, but I have wanted to try the egg salad sandwich for months. My Yelp friend, Mel D., and I met for lunch here today and we both ordered the same thing. The bread had currants in it and it was so good that I wish I would have bought a loaf to bring home. I may have a bias toward anything bread related though. The egg salad was great too. Large chunks of eggs and greens that were so fresh. I tried to eat this as slowly as possible to savor every last bite. That's how good it was. There are lots of photos of this sandwich that other Yelpers have taken, so I didn't take one to add to the collection. Euro Pane Bakery has an assortment of freshly baked bread and macarons. I am kicking myself right now for not purchasing some macarons or bread to bring home, but I probably would have just eaten them all since they are so good. The last time I was there I ordered one salted caramel macaron and a latte and that was great too. Service 4/5 stars: You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. We came in at about three o'clock and it was disappointing to see the very limited choices of pastries offered. Service was prompt, over the counter. I've been going here a lot for a while now. Loved the food, loved the service, loved the breads. A whole lot has changed now since new ownership. -They now serve boba. I like boba, it's great, but it's another place in Pasadena trying to sell it. Trying. -Desserts - or lack thereof now. They don't make certain ones anymore, and those were the ones I got. -SERVICE. The service was exceptionally rude this morning when I went to go pick up breakfast. Called in and ordered a spinach quiche for pickup. Got there, it's not ready. Then was informed by the rude middle-aged woman at the register that they don't have spinach quiche and someone in the back misinformed me. OK, no biggie I'll order the frittata. When she went to charge me, it still said quiche on the monitor, like I'm blind and can't see that. And the quiche is a dollar something more than the frittata. I told her this is not what I'm ordering since you don't have quiche, and the quiche is more than the frittata. She said she can't fix it because the manager isn't here. Well, that's not my problem. And to think, she really wants me to pay more for something that I'm not even ordering. I know that a dollar something doesn't mean much, but it's customer service. If that's not what I'm ordering then I shouldn't be paying more for something I'm not even getting. Common sense. I told her, well can't you just start a new order? In my head.. DUH OF COURSE SHE CAN. If I wasn't there to pick up my order, how else would she ring up other customers. She would start new orders? I THINK SO. So I'm basically telling her how to do her job correctly. Not something I was expecting to do at 0730. She FINALLY gets the order correct. And then has the audacity to give me attitude and say "Is THIS price OK with you now?" Well no shit. I respond with "Well yeah, because this is WHAT I'M ORDERING." Hire new people. I rarely do this, but Euro Pane's signature egg salad sandwich is the kind of thing that breaks down long-held Yelpian traditions and robs me of my ability to describe what I ate with any thread of coherence. Just the mere memory of dat egg leaves me no choice but to copy/paste Steph C.'s reaction: "I ordered it on rosemary currant bread, and it was out of control. It was served open-faced, and with good reason - there was no way that mountain of egg could be contained between two pieces of bread. The egg salad was perfectly cooked, with large wedges of egg white cooked supple and not hard boiled. The yolks were creamy and rich, and the eggs were balanced by a bed of greens, a sprinkle of chives, and a bright, tart sun-dried tomato pesto. It was truly dreamy, and I want to eat it again." AMEN. We also got the seared ahi tuna salad and were delighted by the fresh crunchiness of the salad leaves. The fish wasn't the best, but just the sheer number of pieces more than made up for that fact. The order came with what I'm certain is a homemade dressing--creamy enough to complement the seared tuna and make raw veggies taste delicious. I was actually a little disappointed. Everything was lovely when we walked in - the cafe space seemed comfortable, the workers were so welcoming and sweet, and the pastries in the window looked so good! But alas, their food most certainly needs improvement. I picked the almond chicken sandwich over their famous open faced egg sandwich per my cashier's preference/recommendation. The almond-crusted chicken was actually quite rubbery and unflavorful to the point that I got a little worried (but luckily no food poisoning today! \o/). The cranberry walnut bread I chose was also too dry for my taste. My friends had more traditional breakfast/brunch options - eggs benedict and french toast. I didn't get to try the eggs benedict but it looked delicious, though it was fairly little for a high price. The french toast was fantastic, complete with blueberry preserve and sweet mascarpone. IT WAS SO GOOOD. Definitely worth getting if you're feeling something sweet rather than savory. We also bought a few of their HUGE macarons! I tried the blackberry flavored one and though I didn't really taste much of the blackberry in it the macaron itself was still a treat! The shell's interior was wonderfully moist and chewy with filling that wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Excellent macarons. I just can't get over how large they are! This was our second stop on our quest to find the best macarons. This place only had a small selection of macarons available that day. So we got one of each kind to sample. There macarons are on the larger side compared to other places. These measure about 2in wide. They are also pretty cheap for the size at about $1.85 each. Overall the macarons all had a very artificially light tasting flavor. The best had to be the salty caramel with its well balanced smooth sweet and savory profile with the super crispy yet moist/chewy cookie exterior. The least favorite was raspberry which taste almost like nestle strawberry milk instead when i took my first bite. =P The hunt continues on! read more

Nice place for breakfast. I came by just a wee bit hangry with husband in tow. We got house coffees, the tortilla, and a bacon wrap. Don't let the name fool you, the tortilla is not a flimsy corn based transporter of fillings. When you're ordering this you get a massive cake wedge filled with potato, cheese, egg, bacon, and more cheese. It was mostly cheese. This was delicious and decadent. They know what they're doing by keeping it near the register because I saw several people point at it and order. Make sure to ask for it heated up. One serving is almost enough to share for two. The wrap was a little less filling and impressive. It's half a wrap with egg, cheese, and bacon with some salsa on the side. This is the kind of place to get fresh baked goods because everything looks fresh out of the oven. The layers on the croissant were glorious. The house coffee was pretty good and stayed hot for quite a long time. There's plenty of seating for groups. Water is self service in the corner. I was not feeling like having bread but the Europane's egg salad sandwich is an open face, so there's only one piece of bread (of your choice) that acts as the bed. I picked the multi-grain, but will have to get the croissant option next time. They don't mess around with the egg. The salad mixture is nice and ample and it's got plenty of egg -- they do not skimp on the goods. The bread itself is smothered with what looked like a red tomato sauce of some kind. Oh my goodness. This place use to be so good. So many memories here. But the food is so so bad. I spent $58 on two sandwiches and a salad that I threw in the trash. The BLT was so small hardly had any lettuce or bacon. They didn't even put it on the bread I ordered. The pesto sandwich was made with rubber chicken. Ever my dogs wouldn't eat it. Although beautifully presented, the egg salad had no flavor...it needed salt, pepper, dijon...something. The thin tomato spread could not save this disaster. Whenever I'm in the San Gabriel Valley, Euro Pane is a must visit!! During my first visit, my brother, sister-in-law, and I bought some fresh bread. But on our visit, we just HAD to try the Egg Salad Sandwich. We also ordered the Beet Salad with Walnuts, which was very fresh and delicious. But the Egg Salad Sandwich stole the show! Service is incredible...the employee/manager went heard me whining to my friend about not being able to eat the egg salad sandwich (gluten allergy ugh) and offered to put it on a bed of greens instead! Sooooo we got: Egg salad on greens: Egg salad sounds simple and easy to make...so how did they make it so darn delicious?!?! They must have put crack or SOMETHING in it to make it taste the way it does...it was amazing! Pistachio macaron: First of all, all their macarons are giant. The pistachio one was almost floral-lemony, but still retained the pistachio flavor. I prefer the heavier pistachio taste though, such as 'Lette's pistachio macaron. Salted caramel macaron: Wow! Sweet, but definitely got the creamy caramel, then BAM! Sea salt in YOH MOUTH! Could get a bit salty/overwhelming for some people, but personally, I liked it. Tuna melt: My friend actually got this. To be honest, it came out looking pretty wimpy, especially compared to my egg salad. There was a super thin layer of tuna, no "melt" to be found, and the only vegetable to be seen were the billions of relish littered throughout the scattered, dry tuna. It was literally dry on dry on dry. My poor friend had to share my egg salad :\ I do not recommend this dish... Also, do note that the prices are a bit on the heavier side. Came here this past Sunday with my husband because of the macaroons that I heard so much about (thank you fellow yelpers). We arrived a little before 1 pm and there were only a few people ahead of us. I ordered 1 of each macaroon that was in the display ($1.85 a piece). This is what I bought: Pumpkin: (orange color) When I first took a bite of this, I couldn't really tell what this was. I knew the flavors were familiar, as I had described them to my husband. But couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. But I did taste the cinnamon and some kind of spices upon first bite. Later on, I saw that the flavor was most likely pumpkin since it was the only orange macaroon on the list (displayed right next to the macaroons). I really liked this macaroon because of the cream. The macaroon was a little chewy. My husband prefers a more chewy macaroon, I prefer it to be light and melt in your mouth like consistency (like Lette's on Fair Oaks) Coconut: (white color) My favorite of the macaroons I've tried so far. It had a really nice light coconut flavor, not too overpowering. Love the cream filling. Raspberry? (dull red color) I think this was raspberry... it was just plain and nothing too special about this particular macaroon. Salted Caramel: (light brown color) I really liked the filling inside, not really a fan of the salt on the macaroon though. Probably would just order this again and flick off the salt. (I have had salted caramel drinks and cookies before but just didn't like it in this macaroon). (I purchased other macaroons, but have not had the chance to taste the other flavors) Although the other bakery goodies looked quite tempting, while waiting in line, I decided not to order them. I am not a huge fan of pastries and so I don't know if I would want to buy any. But wouldn't mind a bite or 2 to sample. The pastries on display was quite large or even enormous really. I saw this English muffin near the cash register and I would have to say it's probably 6 times the size of a regular sized one. Anyways, customer service here was friendly (much friendlier than the other Euro Pane on Colorado). Also liked that you can get your own water here without having to ask an employee (cups and water dispenser are displayed towards one end of the eatery). This location is bigger than the other Euro Pane and also seems a bit cleaner as well since I saw employees cleaning and removing dishes quickly after people leaving. If I had to choose, I would probably want to come to this location more often, over the other one. I always wanted to try this place out and today I finally got the chance. I looked at the pictures they had in yelp and saw their eggs Benedict look really appetizing and it was!!! The toasted bread and warm eggs over the fresh salmon was such a delight in my mouth. The location is right off the busy Colorado Blvd. Great place to people watch. The interior has a lovely rustic charm. The staff is wonderful as well. Definitely will be coming back for more of their breakfast favorites. Parking might be the only issue as it is only street parking or you can park across the street at the Paseo Colorado shopping complex. read more

I was a fan of the original Europane. A big fan. But since it was sold, it hasn't been the same. It's been years since I've been, but my husband and I were craving croissants. We stopped in at around 7 a.m. This is the new location, since the original location closed down. We ordered two butter croissants, and to my surprise the cashier took the two that were in the display. We got to the car and took a bite -- cold, old, dense, almost soggy. Awful. My husband went back and asked how old they were. The cashier didn't know. She explained that she just got it from the back and put them on the display. There were no others available. No apologies, no refund, or offer to replace the pastry. There were no bakers there. Everything being sold was old. We ended up going to Urth across the street and had a fresh, flakey, buttery, croissant. I don't think I'll go back to Europane ever again. There's no sense of ownership anymore. I'll hold on to the memories of the original, which had, among other things, the best butter croissants in the area. "Had" is the key word. read more

Nice place nearby the convention center to grab a quick meal! Opted for the soup of the day (veggie lentil) and got the bowl thinking the cup would be too small and boy was the bowl filling. Forgot that lentils are the filler. But it was delicious! They gave a side of a bread roll with olives(?) that was also delicious with the soup! When we arrived it was already a bit late, so we decided on the Europane French Dip (9.25) and the Croque Monsieur. I typically like a good croque monsieur, and this one was with bechamel sauce and cheese, which sounded interesting. The bread for the sandwich was really delicious, but the texture of the cheese, bechamel sauce, and meat together wasn't that great, and the combination was too salty for me! The french dip was also a bit salty, but the baguette was really delicious! The meat was a bit dry without the dip, but the dip made the sandwich even saltier, so we had to do without. We concluded that the bread from Euro Pane is a must, but we might pass on their sandwiches. The cinnamon roll was also delicious, but not the best one that I've had. I've heard of this place, but only for their macaroons. However, a coworker recommended this place so I stopped by for some lunch. It's a small area, but the flow moves quickly because the food is prepared within minutes. The restaurant fits in with all the other Old Town restaurants, the food is very trendy. If it's your first time, you might think that the prices are a little high for sandwiches, but you'll learn that the portion is pretty large. Just a quick tip though, all the items are a la carte. Before eating here, I looked up good ole Yelp, one of the popular dishes is their "Famous Egg Salad" for $8.25. You have an option of olive or Rosemary bread. My favorite part of this sandwich is that the egg is cooked just perfectly, the yolk was still a little runny. I like egg salad, but it was a little too much for me. Half way through, I was getting a little tired of it. For the part that I enjoyed it, it was amazing...it was a refreshing sandwich. The next time I come here, in going to try the Almond Chicken or the Seared Chicken. They have a bunch of other pastries here, including big loaves of bread!! The macaroons are $1.85 but they are much larger than other places. I didn't get a chance to try this, but maybe I will try this during my next trip out here. I'll also make sure to try their chocolate cookie!! It looked very moist and rich! I did try their cinnamon twist. It was good, very doughy and flavorful...but maybe if they had toasted it, it would have tasted better. You can dine at the restaurant, but there's no waiter. You walk up to the counter to choose a delicious sandwich, salad, etc from their menu. You pay the cashier and take a seat. They will bring out your dishes to you. The people working behind the counter are very nice! They're always happy and interact with customers. Overall, I liked the place. The dining area is very well lit, the food is delicious, and service is awesome, I recommend giving this place a shot if you're in the area and want a quick bit for lunch. read more

My family and I came here after attending BricksLA in Pasadena. We were looking for somewhere quick and healthy with good reviews, and decided to try out Europane. Their menu has a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries, and breakfast. I chose the strawberry almond chicken sandwich and a coconut macaron. The salad was good-not the best-because the chicken was chewy and cold. Everything else in the salad was good though, and the portion was plenty big. The macaron was perfect! I also tried a bite of their egg salad sandwich. They are known for this, so I highly recommend you order it! It does not disappoint! The eggs are between soft and hardboiled, it has the right amount of mayo, and is served open-face, atop bread, spread with sun-dried tomato paste and mixed greens! Their frittata is super fluffy and light, and the kabocha soup was delicious. I was happy to hear it was dairy-free because I could eat it! Inside, there is a long table with benches and stools, a few tables, and outside seating. The service was quick, patient, and friendly (as we took a long time to order). Overall, it's a cute cafe with great food, but the only downside is that it is pricey. read more

We have been coming here for a while now since its a quick breakfast and everything seems to be better here. We ordered an egg white spinach and cheese muffin. The muffin is good. Not like the English muffins that fast food places use. Its this thick, dense pieces of bread that tastes so good. It is so good, its the anti- no-carb meal. Not for those dieting. Anyway, we got a coffee and something my wife ordered that was like a pecan roll. That was good too. Since the last time I've been here, they have cleaned up the dining room and god these professionally made menu boards. No more menus on a chalkboard written in colored chalk. Much easier to read now and the dining room felt much open without that large bookshelf or whatever was there before. But the reason why I am marking them down is because I have to question the cleanliness of this place. When we were there at around 8am, which you would imagine is breakfast rush for them, there was line or about five people. But the had this large table of food sitting on the table in between registers. See the picture. The woman in front of us had to put her purse on the counter to get her wallet out and her purse pushes this large quiche over a few inches. Now would you want that happening all morning to quiche that you might order later that morning? The large table of food was packed and just sitting there for all the dust in the room to land on. My wife ordered and I was standing to the right of her. When I paid, I literally gave the money by reaching over the quiche on the counter and this stack of egg wraps. I was handing over dirty dollar bills to her and all this food was just sitting there waiting to catch any money I might drop. Is this place even thinking about that? Maybe the food was cooling off you say? Nope. We ordered the egg white and cheese muffin you see on the middle of the table in the picture. She initially grabbed a top one. My wife asked for one on the bottom. We all knew why she wanted one on the bottom. The girl puts it on a plate and asks if we want to heat it up. So that means that it not cooling off. Its already cooled off and it can be heated up. So all that food is just sitting there waiting for flies, people coughing and sneezing, etc. That is gross and shouldn't that be a health concern? The food is good but the handling of it is suspect. Who knows what goes on in the kitchen? I think we can find better places. Its OK. read more
