Initially, before I even visited this park my thoughts were, it's just a simple huge field with a…read moreflat path. Well I was wrong in a sense. Clearly it is a simple roundabout flat paved circuit, but it's so much more than that to many different people. One, it's great for me because I'm not supposed to navigate uneven terrain yet. There was plenty of real estate to do my walk and give the regenerated ankle some exercise. I didn't walk around the elementary school nearby, just the path immediately that encompasses the bathroom. That path alone twice was a little over 2 miles roughly. The park is perfect if you have well behaved dogs. Plenty of room for Fido to run around. There were several people with their dogs walking. I saw a man run his remote controlled car through the field and walkways, a kid and his parental vision ride across on a dirt bike, and a man and his little kid on his atv. You name it! The field is massive you really won't run into anyone because of the amount of space! There were several soccer goals out there too. I'm sure this a perfect place for Impromptu soccer games and football games, they probably even hold games there. There isn't many benches, I saw at least one aside from the ones in the two mini shelters. There isn't a lot of shade so if you want to get some sun this a good place. There are trees along parts of the path for partial shade. I feel this would be a good place to teach kids how to ride a bike, or to cruise on a skateboard. Close to the parking lot they have outdoor exercise equipment provided by AARP that is protected by sun shades which is wonderful! I got on the elliptical bike for a minute or so and did step ups on the various level platforms. It's a good resource for anyone really! I think it's great and I'm thankful that it's available for anyone to use. Super smart as well to place sun shades up high to protect people from the sun as well as to protect the longevity of the equipment. Bathrooms are close to the parking lot with water fountains.

Lamplight Manor Park is a quiet, small neighborhood park. It has a playground and small field. The…read morepark is mostly clean overall. -- The Playground -- The playground area with wood chip mulch is best for elementary school aged children. The equipment is in moderately to very worn condition; it's been identified as one of the next parks that VB Parks & Rec will update. With close supervision it's good for younger children (note that there are gaps in the openings along the playground system). There are baby/toddler swings and regular swings (all of which creak). The playground is in full sun to partial shade depending on time of day. -- Benches & Pavilions -- There is one pavilion with one picnic table beneath it. There is one trash can not far from it. There are 4 benches along the perimeter of the playground. -- Walking Areas -- There are no paths or paved walking areas within the park (other than from the street to the pavilion), although you could wander around the very small wooded area beyond the playground or the small field. The park's field seems to extend to the left behind the houses. -- Sporting Equipment -- There are no other equipment options other than the playground. The basketball courts that were once there were torn down, leaving only the concrete (possibly good for chalk activities). -- Amenities -- There are no toilet amenities, so not ideal for a long visit. -- Parking -- On street parking in the neighborhood only. -- Things to Note -- During peak times, there's a continuous rotation of families coming and going. There is a fence in need of mending between the park and road in the neighborhood. The closest neighbors on either side have privacy fences. The rest of the properties have fences, and the remaining side is a low creek. Mosquitoes might be an issue in the summer, but I've only visited in the fall. -- Takeaways -- This is an average centrally located neighborhood park that serves the surrounding single family homes. The main attraction is its playground. I wouldn't suggest traveling out of your way for it though as there are lots of other parks in VB to enjoy, many with more offerings. Right now with the need for social distancing, I do like this location since it's not particularly busy.

I can easily bump up Lynnhaven Park an additional star after learning there was much more. I only…read moreuse the basketball courts which I have previously reviewed. However, after going around the back when visiting the Great Neck Library I made a discovery... the front of the park. The entrance to Lynnhaven Park is off Old Donation Parkway, then a turn on Bayne Dr. It is a little tricky. The park is across the street from the fire station and library. There is parking at this location. By far the biggest reason my review jumps up to three stars is the availability of joint public/school tennis courts. Eight courts that can be lite at night, they are super nice. Nearby Lynnhaven Middle School also uses them and I imagine has priority when the need. There is league play at this location and a schedule is posted. Other than that this is open for anyone to use. Also there is a ball field that appears to be solely public and has an awesome infield. Outfield could use work as it is ridden with crab grass and patchy. It is also a lite field for night time play. Lynnhaven MS has there own ball field beside this one to utilize. A newer playground and swings sets on a bed of mulch was a welcome find too. There are four small shelters around it with a picnic table. There is no field for recreation in this area. A building behind the tennis courts houses the restrooms. However, they are out of order and locked up which I have a problem with. The water fountain is also out of order. This needs to be rectified and put back online for the park. At this point a port a pot is being used. It is located right outside the tennis court entrance. I have never seen one VB park that utilizes a port a potty as its sole means for visitors to utilize. The crowning jewel of this park are the tennis courts, they are that nice. But without restrooms and a very aging basketball court detached from the rest of the park I cannot justify moving it up further. Check this park out, it's right under your nose off of First Court.

It's much larger than I expected and I love the dog park, large green area with the small three children's play areas, paved bike/running trails and the entire area. It's very big and there are several walking/hiking trails inside the main portion of the park spanning several miles and meandering through a wooded area that follows the marsh. It's well-kept and has multiple entrances from the Shadowlawn neighborhoods. -The entrance from VA Ave has a very small parking lot and then street parking. -The entrance from Indian Rd. has a much larger parking lot with plenty of space and opens to the large, green field with 3 separate play areas for toddlers with climbing sculptures in the shape of frogs and caterpillars. Really cute and has a pavilion and circular paved trail around it. -The entrance from Marshview Dr. has a small lot and this is where the dog park area is as well. Two tennis courts here across the street which are part of a small playground/tennis complex called Salt Marsh Park. Last weekend I finally went for a hike inside and covered about 1/3rd of the likable/walkable space. It's gorgeous! It's also neat bc they have it set up for trail bike riding and it's very well marked and laid-out. I came upon some beautiful areas for sitting and enjoying the view. If you haven't ventured here yet you should give it a try - actually pretty impressive in size and option for a neighborhood co-located park.

Lots of dogs at this park. I LOVE dogs.2 Different playgrounds. The playground area was my favorite. There were no kids so we explored the playground. Huge size. It was awesome. So their playgrounds are spread out. They have one at the area where you park your vehicle. You walk or ride your bike a ways turn right into another area . Nice size grass area to run and play and then 3 sections of little whimsical play areas. Frog area, Caterpillar area, and turtle area. Really nice paved walk ways with these beautiful little bridges. Dog park, People and Pet friendly. Wheel chair and stroller friendly. Great for bikes. They even have a station for bike repair and to pump up your tires. EXCELLENT for us we love riding our bikes. This is such a lovely area we were just riding our bikes around and found it. We love it. It has a lot to offer and it is very well kept

Parking is by street only. Access is off Great Neck Road and you can enter the neighborhood, or park in the rear of the school. The park consist of a shelter, a 12&U play area and a tiny field to run and play ball. No restrooms on the grounds. Parents must supervise children as only the back and sides are fenced. The residential road side is not secure. What impressed me the most was is the fact it was so tidy. No debris any where. Trash can are present around the shelter and they were within boundaries. If your in the area and looking for a super quiet park for young children I would recommend.
