2 dog parks- small and large dogs

I only went to the amazing dog parks and it is 5 stars for sure! There's a large and small dog side, and both sides are huge! Sun and shade. Dog water fountain. Modern and clean.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful Oh did I say beautiful If you ever need a break from the hustle and bustle of Main Street sneak over here for a relaxing stroll with Mother Nature They have plenty of trails that run alongside the river and have shade keep an eye out for pretty flowers and they even have tree labels telling you what's growing In addition there is a playground with a walking trail around it The kids area is fenced off so parents can have peace of mind letting the kids play while they walk and exercise themselves There is a dog park as well as a skatepark also The dog area is separated with room for small and big fur babes it is very big and has a lot of room to let Fido run all of his zoomies out I do wish they had a regular bathroom building but the port a potties are bigger than normal and you are walking distance to the Harris teeter which has a clean public bathroom

Beautiful clean trails that led straight to the lake - I was impressed with the maps and signs to help guide people. The park had a huge selection of toys for the kids ... and a few I want to go play on (they just didn't make some of these things back in my days!) Nice little skate park that was packed with teenagers. Tennis courts. Plenty of parking. You can tell it's definitely enjoyed by the locals! We will definitely be going back again.

Recently purchased a home in Suffolk and one of the top priorities for our pup is locating a clean dog park. This park has a large/small dog run (29lbs and under), and both areas are HUGE!!! The small dog run has agility objects for training or just for fun. This is a members only dog park. While there, we took a 1 mile stroll around the south loop trail. It's really a trail! So if you don't like mud, sand etc, it's not for you. The trail itself was clean and many different trees were identified by markers. I would feel safe walking through the trail alone or with my husband; just in case anyone is questioning walking the trail alone. Also at this location is a nice sized playground for the kiddos and a tennis court. It's also next to a body of water you can see while on the trail.

I was shocked to find there was no Yelp listing for Lake Meade Park and I am embarrassed that I failed to remedy this oversight until today. We have been visiting this park since we first moved to Suffolk three years ago. If you didn't know it was there-tucked behind the Farm Fresh shopping center, next to the cemetery-you'd probably never find it. The main attraction at this park is the Kids Zone playground. There is plenty to do for a wide range of ages; they even have a small, enclosed Tot Lot. All the way around the playground is a 1/6 mile paved path. Feel like tossing a football around? There is plenty of open field for such an activity. Covered picnic tables round off this area of the park. To the left of the playground are tennis courts. As far as I know, you can walk in and use them as long as they're not being utilized for lessons. We've played a couple of times without any issues. Behind the Kids Zone is a skate park. My boys tried skating there once but between them almost killing themselves and the colorful language utilized by the teens who dominate the area, we stay away now. New to Lake Meade is a dog park that opened last autumn. Owners need to register with the city and pay a $10 membership fee per dog for the year in order to use it. There are two areas in the dog park: one for dogs under 30 pounds and another for larger dogs. I have yet to check out the dog park but hope to get my dogs registered soon. There is one final piece to Lake Meade Park that is supposed to happen sometime this year: nature trails should be in place! This is probably the part I am most excited about. I believe the city plans to hold a grand opening for the dog park and nature trails this Spring. If you've never checked Lake Meade Park out before, I hope my review will prompt you to do so! It's a gem in this part of Suffolk.

Skate park area...or great for scooters and bikes as well :)

Cute park with a skate area, doc run and two trails. Fun time with kiddos or a nice spot to have lunch and sit outside.

This park is great for adults, kids and dogs. The views are of a crystal clear lake NO swimming and NO boating. Plenty of trees. Great for bird watching. They have a nice size children's playground. Covered picnic tables throughout the park. a few fitness stations on the 1 1/2 mile hike. VERY easy loop hike. Starts out with a cement trail and turns into fine gravel trail around the lake. Lots of people running, kids playing and dogs walking. My favorite thing I found a bench dedicated to their sweet dog Savanna. And they offer doggy poop bags. Encouraging a nice clean park. Nice easy walk and if you time it right there are a lot of great places in that area to eat and a nice shopping area

Only portapotty available for bathroom facilities which I guess is normal for the smaller parks in the area. The path is clean and nice but there are bicycles and other wheeled vehicles sharing the walking path. There were birds using the lake but I didn't see any sign of any fish or life in the lake so I am not sure if there are fish or anything else in the lake. I went to the right to start my walk and I am not sure if that was the wrong way but it seemed everyone was going the other way or it was just that I didn't catch up to anyone ahead of me so it looked like I was the only one walking my way. I took my walk on a supposed warm day but the weather changed and it was a little cold so I had to walk a little quicker than expected. There were people jogging the path, walking their dogs, and just sitting by the lake. There are lots of wooden pierlike structures that get you close to the water but like I said before, no signs of fish as far as I could see.

I am going to visit as many as I can before I move next month. That is my last parting gift to Suffolk.** Neighborhood Park #6 out of 14 Planters Park (PP) (yes, that Planters!) is a popular park in Suffolk according to information I found online. I never knew it existed as I rarely go by this part of the city. Unfortunately, there is no parking lot, but you can park on York Street. Amenities: *Playground *5-acres *Picnic Tables *Benches *Large open field *1/4 mile walking track around the park There's not a ton of amenities here at PP, but I think the draw is the track. There are some nice shady trees by the picnic tables as well. I was pleased to see that many people and children were out and about today at this park.

Here are the wonderful amenities at NP: * Restrooms with water fountains * Large playground * Skate/BMX park * Tennis courts * Picnic Tables with grills * Fishing Pier on Jones Creek * Nature trail * Mountain bike trail (the trail is about 2.5-miles but it's not a loop--you have to either turn around or follow the field out) * Softball/soccer fields * Basketball Courts * Senior Center * Recreation hall and multi-purpose room * Beautiful, old trees especially around the playground I had been to NP a couple of times, but I didn't realize the wonderful mountain bike trail, and the historic ties to the park.
