It's free. It's pretty. It has 11 lakes! We drove and walked around exploring. Took us a while to find some trails. I'm sure there are many more there but difficult to find and know where they go. There is a 4 mile horse trail. We stopped at a couple of pretty lakeside spots and walked down to the water. Many people fishing in the North End of the park. We'll be back with the dogs. Very peaceful and enjoyable outing. Be ware no restrooms. 1 port a potty I didn't dare check.

This park is absolutely gorgeous. If you enjoy nature and done mind the mud, the trail is joy to walk through. However, if you are like me and don't particularly want your dog (my walking buddy) to get filthy, on a rainy day it's nice to drive through as well. If you drive through the trail, be sure to watch out for potholes as there are many! Along the trail, there are many areas to rest and picnic or just enjoy the scenery.

I decided to update my review for Lone Star Lakes Park (LSLP) because I've been coming here more often--needing a run around the loop, taking photographs (you can see I'm a bit addicted), or looking for privacy. Solitude is the big reason why I decided to change my 4-stars to 5. LSLP is not flashy compared to some parks; the playground is boring, no restrooms (not counting port-a-potties), and the trails can be confusing. What LSLP *does* have is nature aplenty, peaceful quiet, and solitude. When I come here, I am able to let go the rest of the world and rest my mind. There is hardly anyone around -mostly people fishing- and no sounds of traffic. This is a blessing and that is why I love coming here. Also, as I mentioned in my first review, I have gone kayaking here three times. Beach access is simple and several different lakes to choose from. My favorite is the lake next to the playground--hardly anyone on the water and lots of little areas to explore. One of the boat landings was a good spot to introduce the Newfoundland puppy to the water.

My family and I really enjoy this park. We have come here many times over the years since we first moved to Suffolk in 2014. The walking trails are nicely kept and are a favorite place to take all of our dogs for a walk. We have taken the bikes here as well and it's a nice ride. The park is close enough that we can ride from the house to the park, around the park, and back home and it's quite the workout! We also fish here quite often. There are many spots to fish. We enjoy going to one of the many picnic sites so we can fish and grill out at the same time. My husband and his friends have taken their small fishing boat out quite a bit too. It's quite peaceful and comforting and it's always relaxing to spend the day at the park fishing. My only complaint (and I can't even take off a star I love this park so much) is the lack of restrooms. My husband and sons don't really care, but I feel a bit silly squatting in the woods! At my age, walking a half mile to the bathroom is usually not much of an option! I would love to see more facilities built, the one port-a-john is usually quite disgusting. I have not used the archery range but I am sure we will use it eventually. This park is wonderful and definitely a nice place to stop and picnic.

Lone Star Lakes Park is awesome!! I spent the day walking the trails around some of the lakes with my son Chris and the dog (Chop). We saw great views of the lakes, people fishing, and walking, great flowers and even a crazy area over run with Kudzu. The weather was perfect and the scenes were fantastic. We also walked along farms that adjoined the park and the fields of lush green were beautiful. I've been here a few times but never thought to mention it on yelp. If you are in the area and want to visit a quiet and beautiful place this is right up there with the best. Don't postpone joy - visit Lone Star Lakes soon. I've added some photos.

This park is great for adults, kids and dogs. The views are of a crystal clear lake NO swimming and NO boating. Plenty of trees. Great for bird watching. They have a nice size children's playground. Covered picnic tables throughout the park. a few fitness stations on the 1 1/2 mile hike. VERY easy loop hike. Starts out with a cement trail and turns into fine gravel trail around the lake. Lots of people running, kids playing and dogs walking. My favorite thing I found a bench dedicated to their sweet dog Savanna. And they offer doggy poop bags. Encouraging a nice clean park. Nice easy walk and if you time it right there are a lot of great places in that area to eat and a nice shopping area

Only portapotty available for bathroom facilities which I guess is normal for the smaller parks in the area. The path is clean and nice but there are bicycles and other wheeled vehicles sharing the walking path. There were birds using the lake but I didn't see any sign of any fish or life in the lake so I am not sure if there are fish or anything else in the lake. I went to the right to start my walk and I am not sure if that was the wrong way but it seemed everyone was going the other way or it was just that I didn't catch up to anyone ahead of me so it looked like I was the only one walking my way. I took my walk on a supposed warm day but the weather changed and it was a little cold so I had to walk a little quicker than expected. There were people jogging the path, walking their dogs, and just sitting by the lake. There are lots of wooden pierlike structures that get you close to the water but like I said before, no signs of fish as far as I could see.

Here are the wonderful amenities at NP: * Restrooms with water fountains * Large playground * Skate/BMX park * Tennis courts * Picnic Tables with grills * Fishing Pier on Jones Creek * Nature trail * Mountain bike trail (the trail is about 2.5-miles but it's not a loop--you have to either turn around or follow the field out) * Softball/soccer fields * Basketball Courts * Senior Center * Recreation hall and multi-purpose room * Beautiful, old trees especially around the playground I had been to NP a couple of times, but I didn't realize the wonderful mountain bike trail, and the historic ties to the park. I will be taking my boys here soon to use the mountain bike trail, and check out the location of the underground missile magazines. NP is a wonderful park to visit, and so many things to do.
