The accommodations were great for such an old home (you could mainly just hear louder cars from our room) and the staff was wonderful. We came here to see a concert at the AMP outside of town. Being that the rates at nearby hotels were more than I was willing to spend, I looked at local B&B's, and this one fit the bill between it's local and downhome aesthetic, breakfast being included with gluten-free options for my wife, and a relaxing bathtub for my wife to soak and relax. Eva was fantastic in ensuring we had everything we needed. She is an absolute gem who made us feel at home and welcome. She helped us with some concerns and requests. With a house that has been in existence since 1853, as indicated by the plaque by the front door, this has the historical aesthetic and the comfort to match. The lobby area has some lovely velvet sofas shared with the dining area, where you can have either white or red wine or water, for example. The porch is also nice for a glass of wine, people-watching, and enjoying life as it passes by. Food-wise, they served breakfast if you're able to get to the lobby before 9:45 PM. Technically, the kitchen is open till 10 AM, but don't push your luck. But it's nice to have some coffee and breakfast, whether it's eggs and French toast soufflé or whatever is on the menu, and then you're off for your day. If you are gluten-free, make sure you mention it in advance so they can accommodate you. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable four-poster king-sized bed, a classy dresser, and nightstands. No closet, but there are knobs for hanging up shirts, pants, and dresses if you have clothes hangers. I liked the complimentary dark chocolate when we arrived as well. The room we had for our stay had a hot tub and a shower with multiple showerheads. Once you figure out how to use both, it is heaven. It allowed us to live our best lives. My wife enjoyed the tub immensely, then, after the fact, enjoyed the bathrobe. I liked that the toilet was in a separate room from the sink and shower/hot tub, especially, if you need to go and it goes sideways. The outdoor patio is also nice if you want an afternoon drink, fenced off from the street, especially if you want to smoke a cigar. We have already booked for a concert we are attending in July. And that date will not be the last time we book at the B&B. It is grand.

It was very easy for us to get our pass as the front is manned by security... I want to say 24/7. Our room was on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. Our room was very clean upon arrival. Two bed, two bath with a kitchen and large sitting area. Any time we came in contact with staff they were always very friendly. The pool area gets cleaned every morning and is a pretty decent size. Granted, we came on memorial weekend, but their was still enough space for my family to sit out by the pool. A quick walk down the little boardwalk they have gave you access to the beach, which if you've never been to St. Agustine, is a beautiful beach. I hope that we can continue the tradition of coming this this wonderful beach resort.

Most options were either sold out or priced at $800+ per night, so we felt incredibly lucky to find availability at Marker 8 Hotel and Marina for $360/night. The hotel was wonderful. The staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. They greeted us with big smiles, provided a map of the town, and even offered restaurant recommendations. The location, though, was definitely the highlight. The hotel sits right next to the bridge that leads directly into downtown. They even have a private gate that opens onto the walkway, making access incredibly convenient. We loved being able to stay in a quiet, uncrowded area while still being just a short walk (1/2 mile) from all the excitement. Parking was also a positive experience. We arrived around 3:30 p.m., and the lot was mostly empty, allowing us to park right in front of our room. By around 8 p.m., the lot did fill up, so guests arriving later may want to be mindful of that. Our room was very clean, and the king bed was super comfy. Some of the furniture, particularly the bathroom shelving, was a bit dated, but everything was well-maintained and spotless, so we had no complaints. One of our favorite features was the beautiful view from the patio. The sunset from our room was breathtaking! Our room faced the marina, so we loved walking out to the pier to see the boats and watch the sea life in the water. The weather was perfect, so we took full advantage of exploring the marina area. Overall, we loved this hotel and would absolutely return. The location could not have been better for enjoying Nights of Lights.

Let's start with the positives: The location is still amazing--right next to one of our favorite spots, Pierre's Pub, which makes it super convenient for a fun night out. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the pillows were perfect, and the weekday front desk receptionist was hands-down the highlight of our stay. She's always so warm, friendly, and accommodating--truly a gem. That said, the overall vibe felt different this time around. The lobby has been redone and looks nice, but it seems to have lost some of that quaint B&B charm we remembered. The courtyard, which used to be such a welcoming place to relax with coffee or breakfast, felt a bit run-down and not as well maintained--like something was missing, even if we couldn't quite put our finger on it. We stayed in Room 4 again, and just a heads up: it's on the third floor and requires climbing into the tub to shower. If you have any mobility concerns, this could be a challenge and potentially a slip risk. The biggest change for us was the removal of breakfast. It's now just an inn rather than a true bed & breakfast. While they did send an email about this after booking, we didn't fully realize the impact until we arrived. For us, that morning coffee-and-breakfast experience is a big part of why we choose B&Bs--especially in a place like St. Augustine where there are so many great options. Amazing weekend in an amazing condo. Everyone in our party had a blast and talked about returning to stay at the same condo next year.

The confirmation stated…read morethat we should call if arriving after 6:00 p.m. On the day of our arrival, we were running late and attempted to call multiple times, but there was no answer and no option to leave a voicemail message. I also sent text messages and emails but received no response. While trying to reach someone, I began reading recent reviews and was concerned to see multiple negative experiences reported by other guests. We had not reviewed them beforehand because we had previously stayed at this bed and breakfast and had a wonderful experience. We later learned that the property had recently been sold. When we arrived at the bed and breakfast, there was no one on site to check us in. We continued calling, texting, and emailing without any response. As a result, we were left without accommodations and had to secure alternative lodging at additional expense and inconvenience. Despite not being provided with the reserved accommodations and receiving no communication from the business, we were still charged for the booking. We are requesting a full refund and an explanation for this situation.

She told us how to get in the room and then left immediately. The inside seating area in the lobby is blocked off so no one can even use it. Our room was marketed as being on the ground floor with a sofa and wing chairs. We're on the second floor, there is no sofa, and there's something I might call a winged stool. We haven't seen any single employee since we arrived. Our bed wasn't made and towels weren't refreshed overnight. Maybe that's okay at a Motel 6 but at $300 a night or more you should absolutely do better. To get in and out of the inn and your room, you have to enter a code on a keypad which works about 20% of the time. We just let some other guests in because their code wouldn't work on the front door. Bottom line, whoever owns and operates this place has absolutely no sense of hospitality. It's not a bed and breakfast. It's not an inn. it would be generous to describe it as a self-service hostel. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
