Ernie had his Cancer surgery in his face a year ago and his birthday month as well. So, Kimberly was the one and only one to respond almost immediately. I told her my needs, wants and concerns. She worked with me effortlessly. Poof! We made the date and off we headed to her BNB. Ernie was surprised and happy. That was my goal. I'd like to share a little history of this beautiful home: This magnificent oceanfront home was built in 1914 by Louise Wise Lewis Frances, the niece, and heir to the Henry Flagler fortune. When this house was built it was a social gathering place and still is to this day. From the pinewood floors to the beautiful antique hand-carved mantel around the fireplace, this house retains the elegance of a bygone era. The warmth and hospitality of Kimberly the Innkeeper is beyond compare. You'll feel welcome the moment you arrive and you'll be making plans to return before you leave. Kimberly cooked a wonderful breakfast for us two days in a row. She seemed to really be happy and good with what she does. Thank you again Kimberly. Ernie and I will see you again. Pros: There are three levels of rooms to choose from. Everything was comfy and clean. Great breakfast. Right on the beach. Restaurants in walking distance. Friendly Innkeeper(Kimberly). Cons: Parking can be tight, but doable. Stairs are hard to climb. We got used to them after a few times. Check her place out soon! PS: I forgot to leave the key to our room. I discovered it when I got home. Kimberly was so understanding about the mishap. I mailed the key the very next day. It all worked out ok.

We were steps from the beach which was perfect for us. We were a short drive across the Bridge of Lions to get to St. Augustine and St. George St. We were also not far from Vilano Beach. Everything was convenient for us. Our bed was comfortable in the Safari room. It was the pet friendly room so we had our own patio and it lead to the back yard. The bathroom to us seemed like it was bigger than the bedroom though, but it makes sense, they put a wall in the room to separate the bedroom and the bathroom. It made the bed kind of narrow when walking to get to the bathroom. From reading up on the history of the House of Sea and Sun, we found that our room was said to be haunted, and people would wake up to hear dancing and music. This is where they would dance back in the day. This house was built for one of Henry Flagler's family members. They said it was completed around 1914. There are 6 bedrooms in this home. It was nice to get to see all of them before I left. You can tell they nicely kept the old character of this home. Our breakfast was alright the first day, and got better the next day. They had pancakes, eggs, and ham, danishes, orange juice, and coffee to name a few. They also have an afternoon snack of crackers and cheese, and fruit as well as wine if you let them know in advance. It was definitely a relaxing nice stay. Since they are dog friendly, they also have 3 resident pomeranians. It definitely makes for an even more fun stay since our shihtzu Mocha Coconut can play with them once he is got use to them.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at the St. Francis Inn for our anniversary, and I truly can't…read moresay enough wonderful things about our experience! From the moment we arrived, the owners and staff were so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay special. The food was amazing--I even asked for one of the recipes, and they were more than happy to share it with me! We also signed up for the ghost tour through the inn, which made the experience even more fun. Before we arrived, they had beautifully arranged ghost story books, shirts, and an EMF ghost detector in our room. It was such a thoughtful touch and made our anniversary trip feel even more special. We stayed in Graham's Room on the third floor. Although the bathroom isn't inside the room, it was still completely private and was never an issue for us. We actually loved staying on the third floor and experiencing the charm and character of such a historic inn. There is something really special about staying somewhere with so much history. We also took advantage of the complimentary tickets to the St. Augustine Lighthouse, and I'm so glad we did! The views were beautiful, and there was so much history to see and learn about. The inn also offered 50% off admission to the Oldest House Museum, so of course we had to do that too. We really appreciated all of the extras that came with our stay because they encouraged us to experience even more of St. Augustine. I think my husband's favorite part may have been The Snug! It felt like our own little private bar, and we had such a great time meeting and talking with other guests there. My favorite part might sound silly, but it was the robes! I loved mine so much that I ended up buying one to bring home with me. What really stood out to us was how much more this felt like an experience than simply a place to stay. Between the history, the hospitality, the food, the little extras, and the people we met along the way, our anniversary stay was everything we hoped it would be. We left already knowing that we will absolutely be back--and next time, we plan on bringing friends and family with us. Thank you to everyone at the St. Francis Inn for making our anniversary so memorable!

It was okay as the other 3rd floor room was vacant. Our room is very small. The main part of the house is charmingly restored. The front desk clerk is exceptionally accommodating. We loved the gift bottle of sherry and the exquisit aftrnoon treats. Having stayed in some similar antique bed and breakfast establishments, I have to say we were disappointed in the breakfast experience. The little buffet was nicely done offering a different breakfast everyday. Our day was egg-cup day and, ufortunately, it was quite dry. Even though the room was cute, the waitstaff was quite shabbily dressed. It distracted from the charm. Perhaps a nice apron would help. I think it's about a half mile walk to the famous, cobblestoned part of George Street. We got a free tram ride back. The grounds of the Inn are lovely and quaint. It's special to know you stayed in the oldest inn in Florida!

I stumbled across this cute cottage when I was looking at BnB options in downtown St Augustine…read more Although the cottage is not located in downtown, it's only 5 minutes away and right on the beach. A perfect combo. There are several cottage options connected with this company but we opted for the Atlantic Suite. Our family members also rented two other cottages including the Royal suite and one other one right below us. The Royal Suite is a bit smaller but has stellar views and a beautiful bathroom with full bathtub and separate shower. Our Atlantic Suite has everything and is perfect for a traveling family. Full kitchen. Dining area. Full roomy living room. Decent sized separate bedroom with King bed. Full bath with shower and separate sink area. We love it! Special amenities: although separate from the downtown main BnB, you get access to their amenities. Happy Hour daily. Wine, beer, and sangria. Appetizers too. And daily free breakfast (or breakfast basket delivered to your cottage). And free downtown parking. As is the case with any accommodation, this place had it's problems/limitations. CONS 1. Doors are not properly sealed so the bugs get inside. 2. The kitchen doesn't have much so you may need things during your stay. 3. Not baby safe. Many outlets including ones on the floor! Also a huge wooden staircase that leads to nowhere. 4. All of the windows are dirty (probably from the beach air and sand) and I dont think they go to the trouble of cleaning them in between guest stays. 5. The pictures of this place were probably done awhile ago because it is super run down in real life compared to pics. Still nice but the pics set your expectations to be higher than reality. 6. If you need anything from the front desk, it might be hours before they can help. This is due to the fact that the cottages are managed by the Inn that's located 10 min away. 7. Rental comes with free full breakfast and Happy Hour but the breakfast is mediocre. Given that it's free, we ate it. Good enough to eat but nothing special (the website makes it seem like their breakfasts are amazing and gourmet).

The Dunes suite was a very nice 2nd floor 1 bedroom with large bathroom with shower and tub. Also it had a small kitchen in the entry hallway and small side room that was useful. The Oceanview Cottage was right next door and was larger with 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor with parking below. The living room and full kitchen were very comfortable as were the bedrooms/baths for the 4 of us for 4 nights. And it was just a few steps further from the beach. Overall the location was very laid back, clean and great location on Vilano Beach with a very short trip over the bridge into downtown St Augustine. And my sincere thanks to the cleaning staff! They were always very friendly and helpful. This will be the first option I check anytime I return to the area.
