While preparing for my weekend trip to Yreka, I had printed out directions from Google maps which were laying on my desk at work. A co-worker happened to see them and asked sarcastically, "Etna? Is that a real place?" Well, let me tell you, Etna is indeed a real place with a real brewery that knows how to brew a mean beer. I stopped by this place for dinner based on Chris B's review. The food was great, the patio is super cute, there was a steady stream of clientele while I was there and everyone is so friendly. I had the Old Grind Porter (again, off of Chris B's recommendation) and was a big fan. The waitress even offered me a sample of their special Oktoberfest brew. It's easy to see why their Porter has won a World Beer Cup award before. I just wish they bottled ALL their beers (though they offer to bottle un-bottled beers in something called a "growler" for you--but it only lasts about 3 days in the fridge). I'm definitely swinging by on my way out of town tomorrow to bring some back to Sac. read more

Everyone always told me this place has the best burgers, so we drove from Yreka to try it out, and we were glad we did. Food was fresh, flavorful, and they had a great selection. Kids menu rocked, they each got a fresh made pizza with apples that were huge and around $5. I ordered the Turkey, feta, olive, wrap with greens salad. Husband ordered the Burger, loved it. All good. Family of 5 ate for $35. Outdoor seating was a plus Bathrooms and restaurant were clean. Worth the drive. read more

Visited this little pub over the summer while on a camping trip at Castle Crags SP. The fires of summer 2014 kind of ruined our hiking plans during that trip so we spent one day driving around the State of Jefferson doing the Beer Bear Tour. We arrived at Etna Brewing after a laid-back drive through Scott Valley. The taproom was homey and comfortable with both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to sit at the bar, the only people to do so. The bartender was attentive enough but really quiet. Between the husband and myself, we tried several of their brews. Prices were very reasonable. +1 star just because they had half-pints available of any of their beers. I really enjoyed the Keppler Stout, a smooth, rich Imperial style stout. Their brews were good, not outstanding, but a good, solid beer in an out of the way place. They had growlers and 22 oz. bottles available to go and we ended up buying a couple of 22s to enjoy during the remainder of our trip. They do have food available, but I didn't try anything on this visit. Worth stopping if you are driving through the area. read more

A warm sunny February day lured me through Scott's Valley to the Etna Brewing Co. that I hadn't visited for a couple of years. The beer is tasty and the sandwich was also good: the trip-tip steak special with macaroni salad. Thin slices of beef were piled high on the bread with tomato, onion and banana peppers. A big sandwich that was a bit messy. The salad was just macaroni and sliced black olives. This place is very small; the staff friendly and worth a stop for a casual lunch with beer. Their root beer is great! read more

Awesome place located in a small town. Love the Etna Brewery and it's fun atmosphere, awesome beer and root beer, and great food. It's a must-go if you're in the area (and even if you're not). If you aren't a fan of beer you have to try the root beer, it's some of the best I've ever had. Great place and I highly recommend. read more

Where do I begin? How about with the food. We ordered three different barbecue plates and we were each very disappointed. The meat was obviously cooked offsite or earlier in the day (week?), room temperature, and overdone. The baked beans were undercooked and hard. The various veggie sides were not appetizing, and the side of bread was a piece of sliced white bread wrapped in paper to make it look fancy. The beer was not very good. The lager was the best option, but just about every brew was sub par. The service was not bad but not very good either, certainly not redeeming in any way. Bottomline - if you go to a barbecue place and nobody wants to eat more than two bites of the brisket or the pulled pork, something is dreadfully wrong. By the way, this all occurred on our second visit to try the new place in town. Our first visit was a disappointment because they closed their kitchen 30 minutes before they said they would and we didn't get food. Turned out to be the better of the two experiences. Really wanted to have a good place to get a beer in town. Not today! read more

Delicious beer, great friendly service, good menu selection and I saw a lot of tasty looking food and happy people all over. Patio seating is real nice, the inside reminds me of an old school diner of sorts. Walking down the street a bit provides a nice view of the surrounding mountains. That being said I had about the sloppiest most bland tasting burger I've had all year. read more

Great atmosphere but it took 40 min to get our hamburgers and we were the only people in the restaurant. No fries or onion rings available. Wait staff kind but untrained. Meat was not very flavorful and the sides of carrot salad or green salad are so so small. Lots of great choices - but buns were not grilled - we are locals who really wanted to like it but we will not be going back. It seems to be s restaurant that is quickly fading. The food was great. The beer is also great if they have it. So when we dined, the food was great the beer fine. After ordering, we did not see our waiter until the bill. Pity the chump who rated one star without tasting the beer - hours of operation are available online... We arrived at closing time on Sunday, but the barman said "come on in - there's always time for a beer." I had the pilsner which was great - friends had blackberry & red ale & reported also great. Sorry, I have to put something on for a rating. Imagine my disappointment after driving up and down I5 for the last 4 years, always wanting to pay this brewery a visit. Finally, we make the 25+ mile trip, get all settled in the rv park down the street and show up, on a Thursday night in mid June, and it's CLOSED. Oh well, I guess after visiting some 125 breweries in 15 states (in the last 4 years), it was bound to happen. But damn.....I was so looking forward to it. The upside, had a great Fall River Hexagenia IPA at Bob's Ranch House down the street. Probably won't try again. read more

Ohhhhh how did I lose my pictures!? This place is amazing. A few friends and I ventured north from our camping trip in Trinity Center to eating some delicious food, and enjoy some cold beers. Our afternoon was delightful. To start, the place isn't large, but it doesn't need to be. The brewery is nesting down a street off Main, in Etna (which is not much more than a 1 street town!) It's gorgeous, charming and has fun little shops (including ice cream and coffee)... We sat outside, and luckily the weather wasn't too hot. Everyone ordered different beers, which we all loved. I specifically loved their Blackberry Blonde, which I only enjoy during summers camping up there. The rest of my party drank a variety of other beers on the list. For food, we were ALL blown away. I ordered their special, which was beef tacos which the chef just "made up" that morning. They were slightly sweet, spicy, with an amazing slaw on top. The tortillas were fresh and I ate LITERALLY every drip and bite. The rest of the table ordered different versions of their "stuffed" burgers. They looked amazing! The 5 of us all were so happy and full, we decided to skip having more drinks after! I cannot wait to go back. The owner (?) and chef, AND our server all rocked. We even went home with some swag. The Etna Brewery has some of the best beers you can find in the area. It is a great place to meet people, socialize, and hear some of the local music. Their food is pretty good too with an exception. One of the employees revealed to me that the burgers are microwaved, and upon further observation most of there food appears to be microwaved as well. So if you want to pay $9 for a microwaved burger, wrap, chili, etc. Eat here. read more

Great Beer, Friendly Service. I used to work in the area sometimes, so I would go there quite a bit. Keep in mind, they don't have a grill...so anything you are getting is microwaved. Like the burger...it has grill marks, but it is a precooked microwaved meal. I heard they have a BBQ grill they use sometimes, like for tri tip or something, but I was never there for that. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch and a beer while out on a scenic drive. Great little place in a charming old town. The cheeseburger was de-lish but the beer is the shining star. We tried a sampler of everything they had on tap and left with a bottle of the Porter. Yum! Super friendly people working there. We instantly felt like family. We have been here quite a bit over the years. It is a couple hour drive from our house and always worth it. It is located in a lovely town in Scott Valley. This trip we were blown away by the quality of the food, beer and service. Definitely a dramatic improvement over the past and way worth a visit. And a stroll through town. This is a great place for the area. We stopped by after a day over on the Salmon River. We got there around 6pm on Saturday, and sat outside on the patio. The tables were shaded and the weather was perfect. I had the Phoenix Red, he had the Mossback IPA, both great beers. We shared a bowl of chili which was delicious, he had a Bacon Cheesburger and garden salad, I had the Florentine (hot sandwich) and garden salad. The staff seemed a little tired but overall the service was fine. No fries here! Good food and service, GREAT beer! Will definitely return when visiting my mom in Etna. read more

This great little brewhouse provides terrific beers and ales that are second only to the fabulous food they serve. Comfortable inside and outside seating. Their tiny little kitchen serves up great salads, sandwiches, soups, and other fare that are well worth the drive from out of town. We make the trip at least once a month. They recently opened a taphouse in Yreka at 4th and Miner that is equally as good. Bravo! read more

My wife and I stopped by the new location in Yreka. We've been to their original location a couple of times. Both the double IPA and Imperial Stout were excellent. They brew their own root beer for kids and non-alcoholic patrons and it is great as well. My burger and salad was very good and the service was fast and friendly. We're looking forward to their new pub in Mt. Shasta which may be opening this fall. read more

Good beer, but I have to wonder about these other folks reviews and how many times they have been out to eat. The menu is small and simple and what they do have isn't very good. The chili is low end canned hormel maybe. The burgers are run of the mlll frozen and tasteless. The salad is ice berg lettuce which also prob. came from a bag. We went there on recommendation and it was great! The waitresses were all so witty and nice, I loved their sense of humor. I would give this all time favorite Sunday drive spot a 5 star rating but I'm hoping they get a fryer. Onion rings or fresh homemade french fries would really dial Etna Brewery in. Regardless, you can't go wrong with the food or beer here. I prefer wine and I've never had better. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. In the summer our dogs sit with us on the patio. An awesome place to be after a long hike in the woods or just taking a drive in the valley. read more

Microwaved burgers even though the area is known for cultivating grass fed beef. Rude, crass, waitresses who should consider a new line of work. EXCELLENT BEER If you love hand crafted beer it's worth a check for sure. If you want organic grass fed beef burgers, head to Dotty's just around the corner.
