We recently moved into one of the neighborhoods adjacent to Fairbanks Ranch. Our new home didn't have any whole-house water filtration, and a friend from the Rancho Santa Fe area highly recommended Ethical H2O's Inspire whole-house filtration and salt-free conditioning system. Looking back, we're really glad we took their recommendation. OUR WATER: Our home is served by the Olivenhain Municipal Water District, which is known for having very hard water. Scale buildup is a challenge. OUR SALES EXPERIENCE: What impressed us first was the sales experience. Ariane took the time to educate us on the differences between water conditioners and water softeners, answer all of our questions, and explain the different product options without any pressure. She walked us through the pros and cons of each system and emphasized that the best choice depended on what we wanted from our water treatment system. We never felt like we were being sold something--just educated so we could make the best decision for our home. WHY WE CHOSE INSPIRE: We chose the Inspire system because we wanted a salt-free, low-maintenance solution. One of the biggest selling points for us was its expected service life. Ethical H2O explained that the filter media has an expected lifespan of about seven years before it needs to be changed out. Because we installed the system through them, Ethical H2O will also reach out when the time comes to test the filter media and determine whether it needs replacement. We especially appreciated that the system uses well-established, widely respected components, including a Clack control valve and Pentair tank. That gave us confidence that the equipment should last and that replacement parts and service would be readily available if they were ever needed. At our previous home, we had a citrus-based NuvoH2O Manor Trio system. While it worked reasonably well, it required replacing the cartridges every 6 to 9 months. We wanted a solution that required much less ongoing maintenance. OUR RESULTS: The system has been fantastic. The biggest surprise has been our electric kettle. Before the installation, we would start seeing scale buildup within a day or two, even when using tap water filtered through a PUR pitcher. It's now been over a week of using the kettle multiple times a day, and there's barely a hint of scale. Based on our experience so far, it's performing even better than the NuvoH2O system we had in our previous home. It's also reassuring to know that we're not only reducing scale but also filtering out chlorine and other contaminants throughout the house. We also appreciate having filtered water available from every faucet in the house instead of only from a single drinking-water tap, so we didn't need to do anything special for the refrigerator water line. OUR INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE: The installation was smooth, professional, and very clean. Ethical H2O works with a recommended plumber, but they also welcome customers to use their own plumber if they prefer. We decided to go with their recommendation, Chris Erbs Plumbing, and we're glad we did. The installation included connecting the Inspire system to our home's main water line and routing the regeneration drain to our existing sewer cleanout. Everything looked neat and professionally done. The plumbers completed the system's initial regeneration cycle, then took the time to walk us through its operation and maintenance before they left. Since they were already going to be on site, we also arranged directly with Chris Erbs Plumbing ahead of time to replace our water heater during the same visit. Being able to complete both projects in a single appointment made the entire process even more convenient. OUR RECOMMENDATION: If you're considering a whole-house water filtration system, I'd definitely recommend talking with Ethical H2O. Ariane made the selection process easy by helping us understand our options instead of trying to sell us the most expensive system, and Chris Erbs Plumbing did an outstanding job with the installation. The combination of knowledgeable guidance, quality equipment, and professional installation made the entire experience well worth the investment. read more

Super knowledgeable and willing to help with the contractor so I don't have to remember everything.

Working with Ariane and her team was a delight. She was knowledgeable and responsive from the start. She answered all our questions, even when we asked them twice! The install was seamless and her install team was fantastic. We are thrilled with our new whole house system and our RO system as well. I highly recommend Ethical H2O. read more

I am very grateful for the whole team at Ethical H2O!! There was an existing whole home filtration system in my home upon purchase and I had neglected it for 5-6 years not knowing what it was and if it required any maintenance. Needless to say I was overdue for some maintenance but I had no idea where to start! Ethical H2O was recommended to me by the manufacturer of one of the parts of my system and I am beyond thankful I was directed to them. From beginning to end the entire team was not only incredibly professional and transparent, they also took the time to educate me on my system and how I can best care for it moving forward. Both my whole home filtration system and my reverse osmosis system were serviced with filter replacements in under an hour (on a Sunday!) and I am reaping the benefits of an incredible system that I now understand better! If anyone is considering installing a new system or requires maintenance on an existing one please look no further than Ethical H2O. I will be recommending them to everyone I know in Southern California!!!!!! read more

Passion with work is hard to find nowadays. Ariane knows what she's doing and goes the extra mile to create human connection with their customers. Recently purchased a home and wasn't left with much info on the appliances and they were able to help. This company is detailed and I see why they have FIVE STARS. They earn every star from me. Thanks again for your knowledge and help. read more

Thank you Thank you Thank you! Nothing is more vital than water. When we built our home a few years ago, we discovered that our well had high iron content. Unfortunately, we crossed paths with a Temecula based company that did not do the job properly. When he installed our system, the main filtration tank (unbeknown to us) had a bad piston when he fired it up. He then shut off the filtration tank and put the high iron filtration through our water softener only. On the day of installation, he abruptly left our jobsite, with an off handed comment, "Yeah, we need to order one minor part, but we will come back and put it on when we get it in." Meanwhile, time went by and unfortunately that fell off my radar. In my opinion, our system was compromised at the time of installation. Nearly a year went by, with no word from the local installer. We had a major discoloration inside our new home. The white grout, new tile and bathroom fixtures, along with our dishwasher had a visual rusty hew to them! We contacted the installer. He came out and (without coming to our front door) barreled down to our tanks. When I went down there to greet him, I was met with a 'Why did you shut the system down?' I was not expecting that type of greeting at all! I have no knowledge of his set up and no one here turned off the system. I then recalled our conversation about him previously explaining that he needed to order a minor part. When I pointed that out to him, he walked away without comment. A few weeks later his son replaced the piston and the media in the tank. We are not in the water treatment business and relied on him to do a professional job. We believed we were on the right track, until approximately one year later. We began noticing rusty colored water coming out of the taps. This time, I contacted the manufacturer, Fleck. They provided me with a list of professionals for me to contact. I contacted quite a few of them. The one company that impressed me the most was Ethical H2O. The woman who answered the phone, Ariane, was professional and informative. She answered all of my questions, going above and beyond considering what our prior experience had been with the other company. Ariane did some research and discovered that our valves were in fact covered under warranty. She sent out a technician, Dan, who equally took care of us. Coming out after work, to get us on track and working late into the evening! Who does that? He did! Ethical H2O is going to be 'go to' when we have issues in the future. We are letting our neighbors know about them too! It is refreshing to work with a company who listens to your problem, comes up with a solution and does the job as promised! read more

Ariane and her team were fantastic! They made the installation of our whole house filter and reverse osmosis (with fridge hook up) so straight forward. I really appreciate all the care and personalized help she gave us. Thank you! read more

I saw this company recommended on my Nextdoor page by locals when I was looking to fix our water filtration system. Ariane got in contact with me right away. She came over to look at the setup, made some recommendations and explained what exactly needed to be done (the system was here when we bought the house but there was no paperwork). Not only did we get an awesome filtering setup, but She managed to save us money by being able to use parts of our old system, at no point in time did I feel pressured to buy or upgrade into unnecessary things, everything was very well explained and the install was clean and professional. Did I mention all this was done 1 week before Christmas??? I would highly recommend this company. Competitive prices great service and I'm always happy to support a female-led business! read more

Ariane is the best. VIP treatment throughout the entire process. She helped us out tremendously. I don't think we would have stayed here in SD if it weren't for her and her recommendations. We moved from Hawaii to San Diego. My son and I weren't able to tolerate the tap water here. He would break out in hives every time he showered and my skin would turn red and burn when showering or washing dishes. We developed trust in Ariane's knowledge of SD water and the products along with her patience and her concerns for our family. We now have no issues when showering and washing dishes. I'm impressed with Ehtical H2O's products because we had a whole house filtration system when we lived in Los Angeles and spent twice the amount of money with no resolution. I highly recommend Ariane and her advice on products. The plumbers (Daniel & Chris I believe?) who installed the equipment were both very knowledgeable and trustworthy as well. Thank you, everyone!! Five stars all the way! read more

Ariane was quickly responsive to my initial Yelp request and we set up a time for her to come by and look at our home and explain their products. She was on time, professional, and friendly and explained the differences in their product (whole home filtration) versus a system we had in our previous home. I was very impressed with their product and company and decided to move forward. The installation went smoothly....the plumber was on time, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the system. We love our clean water and absolutely recommend Ethical H2O for your water filtration needs! Ariane even followed up with a mailed thank you which really impressed me. This is a business owner who cares about her customers! read more

I had a huge remodel project in 2017. I had a water filtration system that was installed in 2003 but my contractors told me that the system was extremely outdated and the technology was closer to the 70's. They told me it would be pointless for them to hook it up again. Needless to say I was very frustrated with my previous experience and felt duped by the company I had used. I went in to this project very weary but I still hopeful I could get the benefits of a water filtration system. Having had that experience, along with so many choices out there, I kept getting overwhelmed and would put it on the back burner. Recently though, I found Ethical H2O and ended up having the best experience! They walked me through products and options and educated me in a way that I could digest and understand. They took their time with me and were so diligent about offering me resources and literature to support my many many questions. They were so professional and as their name states, very "Ethical". I couldn't be more happy to have given them my business and I couldn't be more thrilled with the fantastic water I now have in my home. Everything including drinking, laundry, bathing and cleaning is sooo much better. Needless to say I fully recommend Ethical H2O. read more

I highly recommend Ethical H20 to anyone who is seeking a high quality water filtration system. Working with Ariane has been an overall wonderful experience! Our experience with Ariane and Ethical H2O has been amazing!! We recently purchased a new home and we were in the market for whole home filtration and a water softener. As soon as I spoke with and met Ariane, we knew immediately that Ariane was the type of person we wanted to do business with! She's beyond wonderful - extremely knowledgeable, patient, truly cares, not pushy at all, wants what is best for your family, impeccable integrity, honest and transparent, and just a joy to work with. Ariane brings a personable, kind touch to every interaction and communication and is someone you KNOW will be there if/when there is ever an issue. Her main plumber and installer, Daniel, is just as wonderful as Ariane! He helped install our system and is always incredibly kind, willing to go the extra mile to ensure things are done correctly, and truly takes his time to ensure the job is done correctly. We recommend Ethical H2O to all of our friends and neighbors who are looking to do business with a company that truly cares!!! Our water is fantastic, Ariane/Daniel are JUST as responsive and kind post install as they were during the sales process, and we feel so fortunate to have found them. Thank you!! read more

Ethical H2O - Water Purification Services Near Me - San Diego, California

I spent weeks if not months searching for whole house filtration companies. I have spent considerable amount of time between emails and phone calls with many, many water companies. At the end I settled with Ethical H2O. I dealt with Ariane who I believe is the owner of the business. She is very knowledgable (not your average sales person), never pushy (again, not your typical sales person) and my family is very happy with the unit that was installed. Their warranty is 15 years and includes labor which is rock solid in this business from my own search. Also, their warranty is transferable (ie if you sell the house) which I believe is unique to them. The plumber who installed the unit was more like an artist, and not just someone who came to add some new pipes to my garage. Highly recommended. read more

I'm BEYOND impressed with this company! All the raving reviews are true. The owner, Ariane, is so incredibly knowledgable (and I asked A LOT of hard questions) and responsive, and she even went as far as going through another company's offer I was considering and understanding the differences between her system & theirs. One of the biggest factors that made it clear she was the right choice was how much we had in common with our health living habits. She noticed I have an ozonator to clean my veggies and helped me set it up, she sent me an ORGANIC soap bar as a thank you gift, and she knew everything about all the healthy living gadgets I mentioned. THIS COMPANY BEATS ANY OTHER WATER FILTRATION COMPANY IN SAN DIEGO. Hands down. Thank you so much, Ariane! I've never wanted to post a positive review as much as I have for your company. You're an amazing business owner with an incredible product. read more

Worked with Ariane and she was outstanding! She was extremely patient with us while our master bathroom was under construction. We put in a steam shower and wanted a whole house water filtration system. She was extremely knowledgeable and professional. There was absolutely no pressure to purchase a product from her at anytime during our meeting - unlike some of the others companies I dealt with. When we had the system put in she was there with the plumber (and he was excellent) to make sure everything would be properly installed! I've been researching whole house water filter system for a looong time. Thrilled to discover Ethical H2O! The system is top quality, low / no maintenance (no filter change for 7 years!), and the pricing is very fair. It even included installation. I did not want salt or potassium-based systems. This one uses two types of coconut carbon. I had a long list of contaminates I wanted eliminated, and I still wanted the natural minerals in water. Got everything I wanted and more. The water is wonderful for drinking, cooking and my hair is doing a happy dance. Best of all is the customer service. You'll never find better. Ask for Ariane. Living in San Diego the last 15 years, I've never had anything but a Brita and/or fridge filter. However, after installing a reverse osmosis system with Ethical H2O, I'm SO HAPPY with my purchase. I got 5 quotes to replace my old reverse osmosis system. Ariane was the only one who didn't respond with just a number. From our first contact, she really cared about what I needed and responded quickly to all of my many questions. I had no intention of just accepting the best price, but Ethical H2O did end up being the least expensive option. Daniel, who installed the system, was fantastic. He was on time, answered all of my questions, and gave me great instructions. I love the taste of my new water! read more

I was very satisfied with this company's product and customer service and I would have no apprehension recommending them to everyone who is interested in a whole house filtration system. I looked at several companies, but only Ethical H2O had the patience to answer all my questions and provide all the information I needed. Ariane, the owner of the company, is the main point of contact and she is an amazing person to deal with. She will answer, patiently, every single question to the point, without her trying to sell you at every communication. Her goal is to make sure that you as a customer feel confident about your decision to buy the filtration system. She has incredible customer service skills and she's always available for you. The system it's self, now installed for close to 3 weeks, runs amazingly. I can't believe that I can actually drink from the tap here in SoCal, what an incredible product. I feel so relieved to have the system and shower and cook with this water that is no longer ridden by Chlorine and other contaminants. I don't think I will regret making this investment, it is worth every penny. Ariane will be there to support you all the way "pre" and "post" installation. If you are looking into a whole house water filtration system, I would look no further. read more

I have been putting off buying a water filtration system for far too long. I don't know why I waited, but after talking to Ariane and the Ethical H2O team, it was a no brainer. Ariane is so incredibly knowledgeable and knows absolutely everything there is to know about water filtration. She eliminated any reservations that I had about investing in cleaner water and took the time to answer all of my (many) questions. The entire process was very easy and her recommended plumber did a wonderful job with installation. I have been enjoying my new fresh, clean, & delicious water for the past 3 weeks and can absolutely taste and feel the difference. If you are on the fence like I was, give these guys a call.
