We recently moved into one of the neighborhoods adjacent to Fairbanks Ranch. Our new home didn't…read morehave any whole-house water filtration, and a friend from the Rancho Santa Fe area highly recommended Ethical H2O's Inspire whole-house filtration and salt-free conditioning system. Looking back, we're really glad we took their recommendation. OUR WATER: Our home is served by the Olivenhain Municipal Water District, which is known for having very hard water. Scale buildup is a challenge. OUR SALES EXPERIENCE: What impressed us first was the sales experience. Ariane took the time to educate us on the differences between water conditioners and water softeners, answer all of our questions, and explain the different product options without any pressure. She walked us through the pros and cons of each system and emphasized that the best choice depended on what we wanted from our water treatment system. We never felt like we were being sold something--just educated so we could make the best decision for our home. WHY WE CHOSE INSPIRE: We chose the Inspire system because we wanted a salt-free, low-maintenance solution. One of the biggest selling points for us was its expected service life. Ethical H2O explained that the filter media has an expected lifespan of about seven years before it needs to be changed out. Because we installed the system through them, Ethical H2O will also reach out when the time comes to test the filter media and determine whether it needs replacement. We especially appreciated that the system uses well-established, widely respected components, including a Clack control valve and Pentair tank. That gave us confidence that the equipment should last and that replacement parts and service would be readily available if they were ever needed. At our previous home, we had a citrus-based NuvoH2O Manor Trio system. While it worked reasonably well, it required replacing the cartridges every 6 to 9 months. We wanted a solution that required much less ongoing maintenance. OUR RESULTS: The system has been fantastic. The biggest surprise has been our electric kettle. Before the installation, we would start seeing scale buildup within a day or two, even when using tap water filtered through a PUR pitcher. It's now been over a week of using the kettle multiple times a day, and there's barely a hint of scale. Based on our experience so far, it's performing even better than the NuvoH2O system we had in our previous home. It's also reassuring to know that we're not only reducing scale but also filtering out chlorine and other contaminants throughout the house. We also appreciate having filtered water available from every faucet in the house instead of only from a single drinking-water tap, so we didn't need to do anything special for the refrigerator water line. OUR INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE: The installation was smooth, professional, and very clean. Ethical H2O works with a recommended plumber, but they also welcome customers to use their own plumber if they prefer. We decided to go with their recommendation, Chris Erbs Plumbing, and we're glad we did. The installation included connecting the Inspire system to our home's main water line and routing the regeneration drain to our existing sewer cleanout. Everything looked neat and professionally done. The plumbers completed the system's initial regeneration cycle, then took the time to walk us through its operation and maintenance before they left. Since they were already going to be on site, we also arranged directly with Chris Erbs Plumbing ahead of time to replace our water heater during the same visit. Being able to complete both projects in a single appointment made the entire process even more convenient. OUR RECOMMENDATION: If you're considering a whole-house water filtration system, I'd definitely recommend talking with Ethical H2O. Ariane made the selection process easy by helping us understand our options instead of trying to sell us the most expensive system, and Chris Erbs Plumbing did an outstanding job with the installation. The combination of knowledgeable guidance, quality equipment, and professional installation made the entire experience well worth the investment.

The offer many perks. We signed up in late 2022. Jan of 2023, we remodeled our kitchen. It was a free for me to have them come down, remove the kitchen filtration (drinking water) system and then reinstall after the remodel. They've addressed concerns by sending someone to my home and investigate. Besides the hardware, washing cars is much better (doesn't leave calcium spots everywhere). I'm no longer changing the end caps of the faucets from calcium build up. Hard water spots are shower doors are essentially gone. Skin feels better and silky smooth in the beginning. Not so much now, but I can still feel the difference. One main point everyone should know is that the filtration system needs to be off when watering plants and grass. That's the biggest disadvantage. Now that we have artificial grass, watering plants is not a big deal.

We did extensive research and knew that we wanted a maintenance-free, whole house water filtration system. No adding salt, no replacing filters, no multiple tanks in your garage, etc. Molly from Superior Water was so friendly and informative on the Waterboy filtration system, explaining the history of this family-owned business, the longevity of their many of their happy employees, and the construction of the Waterboy units, made in San Diego. The installation was super quick and efficient, led by the expert Rowan and his buddy - the two of them were so synchronized, it was impressive to watch. They had the old Halo unit removed and the Waterboy installed in about a half-hour! The Waterboy has an automatic, scheduled, weekly clean-out, and they took the time to extend the run-off water to sprinkle the drier sections of our lawn and garden. Molly tested the filtered water, confirming that the Waterboy was filtering out the chlorine. There are still minerals in the water, but they easily swipe off with a finger. We feel more confident that our quality bath fixtures from Ferguson Home and California Faucet will have a nice long life with Waterboy. Yes, we recommend Superior Water, it was such an easy decision.

I also called nearly every water filtration service I could find in the area. Coast Water was my pick! I wasn't looking for a sales pitch. I wanted someone who could explain the pros and cons of different systems and help me make an informed decision. I didn't want to be guided into a one-size-fits-all solution after a 5 minute phone call like what so many companies do to you. Grant from Coast Water was patient, knowledgeable, and never made me feel pressured to buy. Grant took the time to answer all of my questions, explain why he recommended certain equipment for San Diego's water, and was honest about what I did and didn't need. I really appreciated that he focused on finding the right solution instead of trying to upsell me. After talking to multiple companies and learning about numerous filtration systems, I actually think Grant undersold his products during our initial phone call. Coast Water carries top of the line products. A lot of competitors are offering systems that cut corners. Grant gave me commercial grade products Coast's proposal was more transparent than competitors. I had to harass competitors to get them to tell me the same level of detail so I knew if I was comparing apples to apples quotes. I got: Clack WS1 valve 2.0 cu ft softener 10% cross-linked resin 2.0 cu ft Oxbow catalytic carbon filter Competitors were offering 8% resin, which is tolerable for a single family home, but 10% is better. Competitors also don't use Clack valves, and a simple search will tell you Clack is the gold standard. I dug through hundreds of Reddit forums trying to understand from plumbers themselves which water softening was the best and found that the consensus agreed on what Coast was offering me. On top of all of that, I got the best priced quote from Coast Water. We got everything installed today and are extremely happy with our first impressions! Thank you Grant!

This time around, our Rheem water heater failed before reaching even 7 years, despite having a 12‑year warranty. Even though Quick is closed on weekends, Brandon texted me and set us up first thing Monday morning. Ben (sales) was extremely helpful, walked me through all the options, and made a genuine effort to get Rheem to honor the warranty. Unfortunately, Rheem couldn't provide a replacement and instead offered fair market compensation (still TBD). Not thrilled with Rheem, but Ben handled the situation professionally and kept me informed throughout. We ultimately went with a Bradford White, and Sammy installed it the same day. His work was excellent--professional, efficient, and spotless cleanup. The Bradford White + installation was very reasonable and very surprisingly comparable to my prior installation. Very impressed with Quick's responsiveness, professionalism, and ability to turn everything around in a single day. Highly recommend them.
