I had been searching for a new Master BR set for close to 6 months. Wanted something more compact and contemporary with quality of construction, materials, design and durability being of utmost importance. To be honest, Ethan Allen was not on my radar until I found an image online of a bed that caught my eye. I always thought of Ethan Allen as Colonial and Traditional furniture. Well, not anymore! Living in NYC for the summer I had walked past the Ethan Allen on upper 3rd Ave and 60th St a number of times and one Monday morning I stopped in, no appointment, to check it out. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist on the street level entrance who connected me with a designer. Carmen Caceres was the designer assigned to me. We spent almost 2 hours together looking at showroom options that would match my decor and dimensions. I had a width constraint that made it difficult with most furniture options and had to work with these width and depth constraints. Carmen walked me through my options on the showroom floor so that I could physically see them, open drawers, test the sturdiness of the bed/bed frame, make comparisons, and visually see in person. Big difference to see in person than to view online! No pressure whatsoever and I found working with Carmen to be a very relaxed and comfortable. I left that day with a complete proposal, furniture cuts, and specs for a complete order with delivered pricing. I needed time to think and check the dimensions. The following Saturday morning I did a hard check of the dimensions and the selections and called an audible, changed my mind. I changed from an all wood bed/bed frame to an upholstered bed with storage. I selected a different grouping of night stands as well. I emailed Carmen early Saturday AM (multiple emails) with my complete changes. Carmen called me at 10am and I was in the showroom 30 minutes later to work with her on the completely new selections. We went right to the Design Center again and Carmen pulled all samples and presented her great design ideas. The design center included all the wood, color, material samples available for all product lines. If the showroom floor had the product but was not in the color you wanted, Carmen checked the specs for available colors and would pull the color sample and put on the design table for me to see. We did this for the fabric of the Upholstered King Bed, the (2) Benches, the wood for the nightstands, as well as the handles for the night stands. All a perfect match! 1.5 hours later I was presented a folder that included all the confirmed paper work: Invoice, specs, photos, warranty, and financial. I opted for 48 months and no interest. It was also the last day of the special sale pricing. I told Carmen this is the last furniture set I hope to buy. She assured me it would be and worked with me very diligently and patiently to be sure I was 100% satisfied. I walked out of the store a 100% satisfied customer thanks to her excellent design and customer service. It was a great experience! I am not certain of other locations and the degree of services they provide but I can tell you I sensed a very good culture here at the store. A willingness to help and a vested interest in the customer. For the reasons noted above I would recommend Ethan Allen to anyone looking to meet their needs and tastes in quality constructed furniture and personal design services with the sale. If in New York City, ask for Carmen. You will not be disappointed.

End of feather sticking up through fabric

I went to Ethan Allen's design studio to buy a sofa. I found an attractive one I liked, and the saleswoman spent a lot of time showing me fabrics. But when I went to place my order, the system wouldn't let the saleswoman choose the fabric I wanted. I was limited to a group of preselected fabrics. Why didn't the saleswoman tell me that in the first place? I had spent more than an hour just looking at fabrics. So I chose one of the preselected fabrics, and now that I have had my sofa a few months, the sharp ends of feathers are pushing up through the fabric, which is porous. This is making the cushions pinchy and unsightly. Eventually the protruding feathers come out. I can't imagine what these cushions will look like after a couple of years of lost feathers. And the couch cost over $4,000.

My wife and I stopped in the Ethan Allen store at 1010 Third Avenue in NYC after we attended a street fair on a hot July afternoon just to have a look-around. In the long-distant past (early 1980's!) I had purchased some furniture from Ethan Allen that I still own and use. But over the years it seemed to me that Ethan Allen's home furnishings had gravitated towards mainly dark and heavy wood tones, and for my smallish Manhattan apartment, I preferred pine and lighter colors. I was surprised to see the large assortment of lighter wood pieces in our first visit to the store in many years. As we browsed the various collections of sofas for our "TV room" and dining tables for our living room, we were greeted by Sandra Diaz-Matthews, who introduced herself as a designer/decorator. We were unaware that Ethan Allen provided complementary design and decorating consulting service. Since we were in the middle of renovating our kitchen and bath, we started asking her for sofa and dining room table suggestions to replace the old furniture we had discarded to make storage space available for our contractor's supplies and equipment as well as new kitchen counters, cabinets, appliances along with plumbing and electrical fixtures for the new kitchen and bathroom. For over four months our living room and TV room served as a warehouse and staging area for the renovation project. Sandra immediately recognized our space challenges as well as our preference for "traditional" design styles in keeping with the 1929 architectural design and construction of our apartment building, which we tried replicating in our new kitchen and bath design. She showed us a Bennett Track-Arm 70" sofa which was perfect for our TV room, along with two Cedric "C" tables for dining while watching TV. Within a week we ordered the pieces to take advantage of a summer sale with extended financing. A few days later we decided to order a Cooper 48" dining table along with four Cyra side chairs for our living room. I selected a color for the dining table that would complement an old antique hutch that sits near the new table. After sending Sandra some photos of the hutch, she suggested a different color, and even visited my apartment to show me a sample of the color she thought would better match the hutch. And recently, when it came time to replace the old Bed Bath & Beyond wooden shoe rack and antique coat hooks in our entry foyer, I immediately called Sandra. She recommended the Logan Tree Hall as a replacement, and it arrived today. Obviously, I am very impressed with Ethan Allen home furnishings. While not inexpensive, every piece we have purchased over the past six months is extremely well made, solid and durable. Most important, they are tastefully designed and attractive. We are also very grateful to Ms. Diaz-Matthews for her design and decorating skills, as well as her commitment to understanding customer wants and needs along with excellent customer service. We highly recommend Ethan Allen and designer/decorator Sandra Diaz-Matthews at the Third Avenue midtown New York City store.

I had a house at one time. I was also working! I decided to decorate my spare bedroom using Ethan Allen furniture. The space fit a double bed, a dresser and mirror, and a night stand. If I find a old photo I'll post it. The furniture in my opinion is great quality. The design I selected was plain. When I moved I gave it all away. It is not cheap. I did keep the mattress and box springs that were so good my daughter is till sleeping on them! You don't find too many Ethan Allen stores anymore. I went into the store today because from the street I saw Mickey Mouse in the window. What a one of a kind piece of furniture. So cute! I do like to stop in to this store every now and then to see the latest designs. One can still dream!

During a recent sale, their pickup team was incredibly rough with my furniture--a Century Furniture piece from the 80s that was a cherished family heirloom. Despite my repeated warnings that their handling would cause damage, they continued to be reckless and completely destroyed the item. I have video and photographic evidence of the item's pristine condition prior to pickup, as well as the damage they caused in real-time. Despite this, AptDeco is now attempting to claim the item was "damaged upon pickup." I saw them ruin this piece with my own eyes. To make matters worse: * Customer Support is a ghost town.
