I give two stars only because they do good work. I give them NO stars on their pricing. I shopped the part they replaced for $99.00 and found, online, prices ranging from $9.99 to $39.99. The high end prices came from the dealer (GM) and NAPA, both reputable suppliers. I called and asked how a $39.99 part came to $99 on my bill. The response was that shops are in the practice of adding additional markup to the parts. I questioned the almost triple the highest amount I found. \They could not say why such inflated prices were charged of did they offer and satisfaction. I was told the manager would call me to discuss but I have not heard from him. Don't get mewrong...they are very thorough and do excellent repair work. Their labor prices seem a bit high bit I understand the need to charge these prices. I just don't feel that the amount they inflated the cost of the part is fair or even good practice. I will be finding a new repair shop. read more

These folks are absolutely fantastic. I had a bunch of work done on my old Buick just because I figured it would be cheaper to keep that running than buying another car the way the market is right now. They were thorough, honest and up front, very friendly and got the work done in a timely manner. Had the car running like a dream. Unfortunately ended up having some issues with my transmission a few weeks later. Had to bring it in again (no appointment) and they had it fixed up same day for no charge. BE CAREFUL LADIES AND THOSE WHO DONT HAVE MUCH KNOWLEDGE IN CARS. I have been going to Esty's since November 2021. They were the first mechanic I saw with best reviews since I had just moved up to Longview WA a few months prior. All my needs were being met and everything seemed fine UNTIL these two things occurred: 1. They quoted me $700 to replace my downstream o2 sensor. I asked why so much and they said it was a difficult procedure to get in there and change it. Luckily, I became friends with a coworker whom she got her husband to replace the o2 sensor at home in 1 HOUR. And I watched the whole process being done and he reached in there like it was nothing. So what? Etsy was going to buy my $130 o2 sensor and charge me $570 for an hour of labor??? I'm confused. 2. I let them change my oil for me and thank goodness I worked at an auto parts shop for 2 years because my car takes full synthetic and I know for a fact that synthetic vehicles can have oil changes every 5,000 miles but why did Etsy put on my tag that I had to go back to them at 3,000 miles like it was regular non-synthetic oil?? If I was just a regular jo who didn't know the difference I would have just "trusted my mechanic." Overall...Esty's did me good to begin with and so I'll give them the 3 stars...but I'm seeing my relationship with them as a client fade away because now I feel as though I'm just a customer they almost took advantage of. I would love a good explanation as to why these two things happened the way they did because there were times I felt satisfied and cared for by the Esty's staff...now I'm questioning all that. read more

With the advice of this amazing place I contacted Kia. After a few tests at Vancouver dealership I have new motor at no cost to me. Normally only read reviews, not write them. However, this may be of interest to some considering Esty's for their auto care needs. Sorry for the length. I had an odd noise that needed properly diagnosed and dropped of our car on a Thursday. Unfortunately, hunch was right.... Timing chain needed replaced in 2008 Sorento. It is a beast of a job and the quote came back the next day confirming the task is laborious and time consuming. I decided to hold off for now while looking into other options and to please button up everything and paid for their services on my way to work in a rental. Said I would be by that night to pick up the vehicle when I had a ride. This was on a Friday. In the meantime I was on day 2 with a rental to get my by for my daily 2hrs of commuting round trip which was set to be returned Saturday first thing in Vancouver (as Longview rental was closed). Early Saturday plan was to have wife drop me off at Esty's and she would meet me at the rental place in Vancouver, I would limp Kia home and get in the rental and catch up with wife and drop off the rental and we would continue our weekend plans in the truck taking care of her family in Vancouver. So was dropped off, wife drove away in the truck and I went to get into the Kia. 3 GLARING problems. The hood was stuck open and the driver's side was parked with only a few inches clearance from another vehicle in their lot and later when looking under the hood saw my heat shield was not re-installed, it was still in the back seat. Esty's is closed on weekends. I had to finagle my way into the Kia without damaging the other SUV blocking my door access. I moved it, checked under the hood and at first glance could not see why it would not close all the way (never an issue until Esty's) and that was when I also discovered the heat shield was missing (found in back seat). I was in a rush to get to return the rental before they closed and knew my wife would be there waiting. So I just got in and limped home with the hood unlatched and the heat shield in the back seat, no other choice. Because of these little delays, by the time I got the rental to Vancouver, the rental return was closed. I couldn't just drop the keys off, I needed a 2nd vehicle for my Monday commute! So I called rental 1-800# and had to extend two days for $188 :( Monday, I was prepared for war! I was going to raise hell about asking my car be buttoned up only to discover it was left in an unsafe driving condition (no heat shield, hood un-latchable), and that I had to pay the extra $188 for the rental that would not have been needed otherwise. The manager came out with me to look at the condition of things and we noticed the air filter cover was not secured and was sitting high. Tried to adjust the cover but couldn't get it to latch. Learned this was because the filter was not set in correctly and the gasket had been permanently crushed out of alignment from the tech trying to force the hood closed. Obviously they gave up and just left it with no communication or resolution. This however, was when my war plan with Esty's started to thankfully defuse. The manager was soft spoken and very polite and had wonderful bedside (car-side?) manner. He was not defensive at all or did any of the typical "how can I talk my way out of this" BS you get with other mechanic shops when things put their business or team in a bad light with a pissed off customer at hand. The manager apologized sincerely and agreed the tech responsible did not meet shop expectations of proper communication and should have sought help when the air filter lid wouldn't cooperate and the hood would not latch. The manager ordered a replacement air filter (no cost), reimbursed me for the extra $188 of incurred rental charges. While waiting for the parts runner to get a filter (only one left in Longview all the way across town), the Manager, some of his office staff and I shared friendly off topic banter which helped to further sooth my anger. Also, just before the filter arrived the owner of the business stopped in and said he had heard about my situation and wanted to personally apologize that I had to go through all of that. They also said that this was covered fully with the techs during that morning's daily meeting while I was waiting on the filter. In closing, I just wanted to share that all shops make mistakes, I know, I used to manage one for a few years in Spokane. The important thing is how does that business handle difficult situations and highly irritated or even irrational customers? In Esty's case, I can easily say their office team, manager and owner are all considerably above average in their candor and willingness to look for resolutions that is agreeable to both them and the customer. And their approach to handling customer stress an frustration (at least in this case) is absolutely top-notch. If their team in some way does you and your vehicle wrong, they will find a way to make it right. read more

Oil changed a few months prior to moving. When my big trip was over, my car was making a noise. Took it to a mechanic. All the oil was gone from the engine, it was all over the engine space. The gasket for the oil filter was crimped. There were metal shavings in the oil he drained and in the oil filter. My engine now is damaged. I have NEVER had engine problems or lost oil with this car. I did not notice the noise until after my move. I contacted Esty, but was never able to speak with the Owner until a male friend contacted him. I was then finally able to speak with Steve myself. His problem is that I drove so many miles before the problem was discovered. No way I would have discovered the problem before the move started. I had NO indication of a problem and I suspect my very short, infrequent trips prior to the move did not stress the gasket enough to show the problem. Steve's issues with taking responsibility are that I put on thousands of miles before calling them. I worked from home. I RARELY drove, when I did, they were short trips within 5 miles. I NEVER had problems losing oil. I NEVER had oil on my garage floor. Then I moved about 2700 miles in a rush in extreme heat. The move was 4 days of 12+ hours of driving in high heat. I suppose that stress is what ran the oil out. Then he tried to say that it maybe was a completely different issue. Funny the noise went away once oil was changed. It only rattles when starting after sitting for hours when the oil drains to lower engine. It runs smooth after a minute. I went in expecting professionals to do the right job in the right way. BOTTOM LINE, the origin of this issue was CAUSED BY THEM. Mistakes happen, I get it. But take care of the mistake. They do not want to compensate me for a rebuilt engine, which I understand is what would need to happen. This is my ONLY vehicle and I cannot trust it. My mechanic has provided them documentation of his findings. I have sent images of the filter and I still retain the filter. Very disappointed! Filed a BBB complaint. read more

Major ripoff, was charged $193.00 for a $50.00 fuel filter kit and then an additional $157.00 to install them. They could have walked down the street and bought the filters from NAPA for $26.00 or a Motorcraft fuel filter kit for $50.00. read more

We were on our way back from a Oregon trip when my car started backfiring pretty badly. We ended up in this town and we're turned down by 6 other shops in the area. Estys told us to come right in and did there best to help us with the car and our budget. The front desk lady, Emily, was absolutely amazing. The customer service was as if we were old friends meeting again. The head tech Dave figured out what was wrong and got it all fixed for us pretty quickly. Before we got back on the road for the rest of the trip they asked us to call them when we got back to our hometown so they know we made it fine with the car. I gave myself a couple weeks to think on it because I would never want to impulsively give negative feedback. I took my car in for a headlight not working and the auto locks on the driver's door not working. I had tried changing the bulb myself with no results. Apparently the original bulb just wasn't connecting, because they took the old bulb, plugged it in and it worked fine. They said the part for the door was $2000, so I declined. My bill was $167. I realize that there was some time put in, but in retrospect, all they did was plug in my used bulb, which my old mechanic (I've moved) did as a courtesy. I'll continue looking for a more honest mechanic because there's no way they spent $167 worth of time on my car. read more

If my car breaks down again this is where I'll be taking her! I originally took my car to the dealership to find out what was wrong. The dealership charged me roughly $140.00 for a diagnosis. I walked away with a list of things that needed to be repaired. Six thousand dollars worth of work that needed to be done. However, I felt like it wasn't right. I called up Esty and they were able to give me a second opinion. Free of charge! After his inspection he calls me out and shows me everything he found. I have a 2011 Dodge Nitro that has VERY high mileage. As such, it needs some TLC. When the water pump went out, I took it to Esty's. Since then, I've gone back to have head gaskets, tune-up, and most recently, the back shocks replaced. Each time, Esty's has given me a ride to home or work and picked me up when the repair was complete. There has never been an unexpected charge, and the work is done right the first time and on time. They did amazing turn around time wise , and cost wise for everything on our town and country van. We had multiple problems, some we knew about, some we didn't. From leaks, to Rotors and locked calibers they fixed it all for us! We Dropped it off Friday( Saturday and Sunday they are closed) and would have had it back Monday but we had a problem with the exhaust manifold so we got it back Tuesday. Esty's did me a solid today. I broke down nearby, passing through at 1AM. The tow driver took me to them, then to a nearby hotel so I could get some much needed rest. Right when they opened they called and we briefly discussed my problem. I explained I needed to be 300 miles away later in the day for an important appointment. They quickly got to work on my truck and had me back on the road before 10. The price was quite reasonable and they even picked me up at my hotel. So my car broke down on a Thursday. I got my car towed to this car repair shop, but unfortunately for me, they were closed at the time, so I left my vehicle in their parking space. I got there the next day, and spoke with the secretary. She said my vehicle is behind a line of repairs, and they won't get to it until Monday because they're closed on the weekends. That was a problem for me because I have to deploy in 10 days and need to get a lot of errands done with that car, and I can't afford to get a rental car. So I told them I was going to tow my vehicle to another repair. I got there and found my vehicle parked on the street, facing oncoming traffic and over one feet away from the curb. In other words, THEY illegally parked my car. Not very smart people in this business. I have pictures posted in Yelp for this business for you all to see. Take a look. It's crazy. This garage is legit! The owner is extremely friendly & honest. The rates are more than reasonable and half the cost of having my car serviced at the dealership. I swore I needed brakes, he swore I didn't. I finally acquiesced when he said; "Look, as much as I'd love to sell you brakes right now, we'll have to save it for later. You have a lot of brakes left and your car is exceptionally safe. I did the high speed fast brake test myself, your good!" - I will always go with honesty over cost every day and this guy is as honest as the day is long.
