The boyfriend and I came here on a recommendation for a good place to eat chilaquiles between San Diego and Temecula on my birthday. That probably sounds like a weird location request, but we were on our way for wine tasting. It was definitely small and seemed family-owned. The bartender greeted us, served our food and drinks, and helped us the entire time. He was super friendly. We ordered (a few) micheladas. These are my new favorite drink. He did a pretty good on them -- they had plenty of lime, tajin, and Worcestershire sauce. I even asked my second round to be a bit more spicy and he definitely completed that order without a problem. The chilaquiles were also pretty good. The chips were crispy and we had two different types of salsa (one slightly spicier) to decide how to dress them. I make this dish at home pretty often so I can be picky about it, but as far as quality at a restaurant, these were pretty decent. Most places give soggy chips that just don't do it for me. The only reason I probably won't return here is the drive. Food was good and service was good. read more

I've been coming here for years. The BEST thing about Estrella's are their margaritas. They have so many varieties that you just have to them all to determine your favorite. Food wise, it is okay but is better than most places. Their enchiladas are to DIE for... The only downside for them is the parking lot is kinda small and sometimes you have to wait a while to get a table. read more

My husband and I have dreams about this place. It's so delicious and always a pleasure to dine at this location. The food is so good that we crave it and will drive 45 minutes to get our fix. Sometimes all I have to do is think about the Chipotle Chicken Burrito and boom we have to go. I've also had the fajitas and the tacos and love the option of having steamed veggies on the side if I'm not feeling like complete indulgence. My husband loves the Chicken Fajita Burrito with Verde sauce on top. We always plan to get two different burritos and share flavors but usually eat our own before we can even do that! The salsa is so good too. I've even eaten it with a fork when I didn't want to have chips and could probably skip the fork and just drink it straight. Ive been going here a long time, so I know what to expect when I order. I have known the owner for a long time and I know im going to get good food when I see how everything there is personally made. NO frozen nasty stuff. Another thing you gotta understand, this stuff isnt from a recipe book. This is stuff the mother has made for the family for years. Their place is a little small, but ive never waited longer than 15 minutes. Soup is killer and the beer selection is huge. You'd never expect that out of a place of that size. This place is the quintessential ma and pa shop, and I love that. It is quite small and you should expect to wait in line for a table if you come during peak time. Their chips and salsa are great and the portions are a great value for the dollar. The food isn't too bad either. I had the chicken burrito and it was huge. While I was there the place was jumping for a Monday night, but what can you say about a place the is packed on a monday, there must be something good, right. They have very good carne asada fries, sopes and Americanized enchiladas. Visited Estrella's yesterday. Ordered the tacos Emelda one chicken and one steak. The tacos were HUGE and the plate comes with rice and beans. The steak was super delicious but the spicy chipotle sauce is what put it over the top. The chicken one was a little dry so not as good, but I woke up this morning thinking about getting another steak one so ... The service was so-so and the place is super small but the waiter was awesome to my kid. She asked if he needed a highchair, showed me the kid's meals and brought his drink in a plastic cup with a straw and a lid without me asking. We came here one night randomly. I read the reviews, and it sounded good! When we got there they were a little busy, so we figured that's a good sign. Decided to sit at the bar, and to our surprise the bartender/owner had an awesome mustache going on! Made our night with just that!! My gf and I eat a very strict diet, and it's hard to find places that accommodate us. He was more then accommodating, he let us bring are own chips in and was so friendly! I came to the restaurant today with my dear friend and sat inside. As we were talking there was a family behind us and the whole entire time we talked the couples child kept screaming almost the entire time we were there. The staff never asked them to try to keep the child from screaming. The parents took the kid out 5 times. Then One of the servers came over and asked me to keep it down that we were being disruptive! We went to Estrellas Friday night and we ordered their famous chili rellenos, which were ok, not as good as before. And also ordered a cup of tortilla soup. Your thinking, brothy, chicken, vegetables, etc. Well what we received was tomato purée with tortilla strips and sliced avocado. We asked if there was chicken or vegetables, and we were told we had to order that separate, after the fact. Our soup was $4.25 and we ordered the chicken($3.95) & vegetables($3.50) to add to our tomato puree, it was a joke. Hi, my husband and I ordered take out from Estrella's last night. Although, the flavors were excellent the food was sitting in almost a half inch of water. The only thing I could think of happening is that they had lettuce soaking and someone just added to our meals without drying at all. My husbands Tostada bowl was literally falling apart from saturation. He was able to eat the top portion which he said was great, but the remaining was schlop. My Chile Relleno plate was not as bad because there was very little lettuce on my order, still I have to use paper towels to soak up all the water in the container. Very disappointing, $26 for our food and it was not a very good experience. This can be corrected very easily and it would change the entire outcome of our experience. read more
