I was so sad to leave my colorist/stylist in Chicago, it took me over 5 years of living in Chicago to find someone that I loved. I was afraid that would happen to me again, but I lucked out. I stumbled across Melissa's IG account (melissaivanic) and saw all of her stunning work. I made an appointment as soon as I could which was about 3 weeks, Melissa does book up pretty fast, I'd suggest to call at least a few weeks in advance. I'm pretty low maintenance with my highlights, I get it retouched every 6-9 months. Melissa is very sweet, personable, knowledgeable, and meticulous. She has such a good sense of aesthetics and art, really really talented. My hair turned out better than I imagined! Thank you so much for making me look and feel good. MEGAN....amazing. I found Estilo through Yelp, looking for someone who could give me a nice balayage, and who understands how to color hair as dark as mine (darkest brown). I liked that she herself has dark hair, and the photos on Yelp indicated that she truly knows what she is doing. I went to a very reputable salon about a month ago and requested the same thing, but ended up with red and brassy hair. I was nervous that she would not be able to not only fix that, but get my hair to the point she did. However, she did EXACTLY what I wanted, I left with the biggest smile on my face and couldn't thank her enough. I left Estilo feeling pretty and relieved. The entire staff was very kind and the salon itself is full of natural light and clean. It was easy to find as well. I also appreciated that nobody pushed any products on me. I've been going to Mario at Estilo for more than five years. I have long, thick hair and it's difficult to find someone who just knows how to cut it right, and who also isn't inclined to CHOP it at every trim. Most stylists try to "thin" it and don't understand how to layer my hair. It will look nice when I leave the salon, but the first time I wash it - it's a mess and then it never grows out nicely. Mario just gets it, and my hair looks gorgeous from the time I walk out of the salon until the next time I walk in! If you have thick or long hair - don't bother going anywhere else. I moved to Dallas three years ago, and tried to find someone who came even close to Mario. I had no luck - so I drive to Houston so he can cut and style my hair. Mario also styled my hair for my bridal shoot and the result was perfection. I wish I would have hired him to travel and do it for my wedding, and I regret it! I initially met with Vanessa for a skin consult. I already primarily use Biologique Recherché products and wanted a quick opinion before repurchasing. The consult is $100 to book and that went towards product purchase. Vanessa was super sweet, knowledgeable and helpful. I went ahead and booked a facial for the following week. I was leaving for vacation that weekend and she also gave me plenty of sample products to take with me which I appreciated. I've seen all of the other esthetician's (that I'm aware of) who carry BR in the Houston area and Vanessa was by far my favorite. Not the cheapest facial (and there is a less expensive facial than the BR one that she offers) but I left not minding a bit and prebooked for my next one before leaving the salon. The service was great, massage was fantastic and I left with my skin looking noticeably more plump, lifted, clear and glowing! Can't wait for my next facial! Had a terrible experience at this salon. Prices are high, which is okay with me, but my expectations are then set that I should have quality service. The woman at the front is quite rude. My hair was burnt while being colored and I have since had to cut 4 inches off! After the initial 1 inch trim. I'm devastated that I lost all my length. Colorist typically does 2-3 people at once, so I'm thinking maybe she forgot about my hair! I will never go back, and would not recommend this salon to my worst enemy! My hair is still tearing off. It is burnt so bad that I can barely run a comb through it. I'm so upset about the situation! Salon has done nothing to rectify the situation. Again, I would avoid this place!!! read more

Mario was recommended to me as someone who might be able to do my hair for my wedding... no small day, and no small task. As a trial run of sorts and to see if he'd be the kind of person who could make me feel at ease on what promises to be the most amazing (yet stressful) day of my life, I went to him to have my hair done for our engagement party. To say that I was not disappointed would be an understatement. I walked out of Estilo with literally the most amazing updo I've ever had. Mario made me feel completely comfortable and taken care of, and the hairstyle was better than what I could have dreamed up. I liken it more to art than to a simple hairstyle. It was the perfect combo of natural and sophisticated, clean yet not "done." As far from what I'd call "prom hair" as you can get. I had the same hair dresser for about 12-13 years, and she tired in August last year (2014). I was extremely nervous and unsure how to go about selecting a new hair dresser. Needless to say, I was putting off this task as long as I could and neglecting my hair in the process. I have a few friends that I know have gone to Eric before for numerous different things related to their hair, and unanimously, they all absolutely love him! Therefore, I figured I would give Eric a try, and I'm so incredibly happy that I did! The only possible relatively negative thing I can even think of is it took me a few times over two days of calling to finally get through to someone to begin booking my appointment. However, as soon as I was able to get through, booking the appointment was extremely easy. I called on a Wednesday I believe, and they found me an appointment with Eric that Saturday! Thank goodness! :) They also told me that price over the phone, and it was that correct charge that they ended up charging me (plus I got the $25 off first time client YELP discount)! When I arrived, I was greeted, checked-in, and offered coffee, tea, or water. I arrived early since it was my first time there, and I didn't know how long the stove would take. I waited their waiting area for just a little bit, and then, Eric came to get me promptly on-time! My previous hair dresser just kind of listened to what I wanted, really like pictures of what I was aiming for, and more so just served the purpose of keeping my hair healthy and somewhat styled, which was totally fine. Based off of everything I had heard about all the stylist at Estilo, I decided I would approach this appointment a little differently. I told Eric about my past hair dresser, my hair history, and then really just wanted his recommendations. He agreed that he thought growing my hair out again would be pretty, but he definitely did say I need to get rid of the dead ends and create more of an actual style/better shape to my hair. I told him that was completely fine with me and to go with whatever he thought would be best! I went back to get shampooed (which their chairs are awesome and very ergonomic), and then Eric began cutting my hair. He asked a few questions throughout the haircut, like my intentions for my bangs, what was up with my grown out highlights lol, and how I typically styled my hair. Other than that, he just did his thing! Even in regards to those questions, I went with his recommendations! After the cut and styling, I was amazed! I have never been more happy with a haircut in my life! I didn't have to tell him how I wanted anything, and my haircut turned out to be perfect and more than I ever could have asked for or explained. It was truly a haircut made for my face shape and my exact hair. I'm so happy to say that I have found my permanent new hair dresser! He is AWESOME! Thank you Eric so much for my haircut! I can't wait to go back in 8 weeks for my next cut, style, and blending my old/grown out highlights into my natural hair color! Also, a little side note, he did not at all push product hard or anything in an annoying way, but I asked for his recommendations so he told me that a once a week weightless hydrating treatment would be perfect for my hair. I bought the one he recommended plus a heat protecting mist he said was good, since mine was running low. Both products are great!!! The hydrating mask makes my hair incredibly soft and keeps it looking healthy and gorgeous. Also, the heat protector is awesome, because it truly is a mist and covers a greater area of your hair than most heat protector sprays! Overall, Estilo is a fabulous hair salon, if you want gorgeous hair! The other hair dressers that were there that day all had clients that left with gorgeous hair cuts made just of them as well! I'm pretty sure you can go to anyone there and be comfortable that you'll receive great services! read more

Best hair job, EVER! I have never done anything crazy or risky with my hair. It was my first time bleaching my hair and I am beyond pleased with the results. I had a dark flat brown color and now I have a beautiful light golden brown tint. Jasmine was PHENOMENAL! As a blonde, I've been getting my hair done for years now and have had many bad sometimes awful experiences along with some decent good ones with many different salons, but once Megan did my balayage and I saw the results, I couldn't of been happier and have been going to her ever since ( about 2-3 years now). It's hard to put a price tag on good service: the service at Estilo is priceless. I had a facial today with Vanessa who was equally skilled and personable. She worked wonders with my skin ("it's complicated"). Anyway, her delicious-smelling products and cheery manner made the whole experience a 5-D treat. A full sensory delight: beautiful ambiance, lovely scents, a skilled and caring touch, wise words for home skin care, and the yummy taste of that cherry lip balm :-) I'm not one for long uncomfortable treatments of any kind, and I'm very sensitive to the way a practitioner's demeanor can affect the entire experience of receiving a massage, facial, haircut, etc ... Vanessa is a pro. Even though I had the most in-depth facial on the menu, I never felt uncomfortable even for a second. Right from the moment I spoke with someone over the phone, I was treated as a valued client--with respect and courtesy. I will start out by saying that I will never let anyone other than Megan touch my hair! She is amazing at what she does and has somehow been able to achieve the exact hair color I want (as a dark brunette yearning for an ashy light brown/ blonde, I am not always easy to please). I came to Estilo first a few years ago after another salon had given me a balayage which left me with a giant blonde bleached spot in the back of my head. Not only was Megan able to fix this, she truly took the time to care about the health of my hair, not even dying it until months later due to the damage caused by the previous stylist (she made sure my hair still looked presentable and more towards my natural hair color while my hair was recovering). Yes, the prices here are high; but you truly do get what you pay for. After having my hair ruined by another salon (where I only paid slightly less) I find it is more than worth it to splurge here for a natural looking, consistent balayage. read more

I have been coming to Estilo since around 2012. Mario and his team are extremely knowledgeable and talented. Sometimes I may stray to another salon but I always end up coming home to Estilo. Estilo is a boutique salon with excellent personal service and has such an inviting and warm atmosphere. I know I'm in good hands when I come here. I see Michelle for my color (I'm blonde) she is very good at interpreting what we non-hair professional people are trying to say that we want. Needless to say, I am disappointed with my experience at Estilo Salon. I called into the salon two weeks prior to check how much it would be to get an all over color and a blowout, and they told me it would be $90 for an all over color and $40 for a blowout. I asked if there would be any other miscellaneous charges that I should be aware of and the receptionist confirmed there wouldn't be. I showed up for my appointment and Eric did a good job on my all over blonde, with the exception that it had a slight brassy tint. So after 5 hours in the salon I'm anxious to just get on with my day and I go to pay and the receptionist tells me my total is $370...Which was 3 times what they had quoted me. So I asked her what all the charges were and she rudely snarks that Eric under charged me and he should have charged me MORE to begin with! After going back and forth and realizing they did not inform me that they added product and services to my bill without asking, I realized that I couldn't stand to be belittled by the receptionist and so I payed my bill and left. After getting home and I decided to call the owner, Vanessa, and she is the only reason the situation got better(and that I gave them 2 stars), she offered to compensate me with some free product and a hair treatment to make things right. I appreciate the way Vanessa handled the situation. I am bothered by this whole experience because Eric did a good job on my hair, so it's a Shame that I had an issue with technicalities instead if the result of my hair.. And the lady that washed my hair doesn't speak English and she was so rough that I left with a headache! Terrible experience!To make a long story short I paid $300 for balayage and haircut to come out with brassy/orange highlights that were supposed to be a lighter blonde color. I went back to get it fixed and asked Eric to return my hair to its original color. He told me it was going to be $85. I could not believe after all this they were trying to charge me more money after I had already paid $300 for a bad color job. I was not about to pay more money simply to get my hair fixed. We called and spoke to Mario, the owner, and asked about a partial refund since they would not fix my hair and said he was going to see what he could do and call us back. He never called back. This place charges top dollar for bad color services and then doesn't want to stand behind their work. I must say that I agree with another reviewer and that the customer is always right. If a client is not happy then you should (do what it takes to make them happy. (within reason of course) If you are trying to be a boutique salon, charging top dollar then you need to back it up with excellent customer service. This salon did nothing but disappoint. read more

She used top notch products, took her time and explained every part of the process - she even gave me lots of the samples of the product and i used them for almost two weeks! I decided to try Estilo Salon because the stylist that I have seen for years is always booked like 3 months in advance and I desperately needed a color and cut. I followed Estilo's work on Instagram and liked their work so I thought I would try them. I live in the Woodlands, so I know and am very familiar with the drive into the city (my current colorist is on Westhemier). I left my house at 11:30 for my 12:45 appt. When I got to 45, my navigator detected major traffic on 45, it told me that I wasn't going to arrive to my destination until about 12:57. So I called the salon and explained to the receptionist named Ty, my situation. She told me, "oh that's unacceptable we are booked solid because its Valentines day and they have absolutely no wiggle room, and that the colorist Megan actually had another appointment at 1" I told her, "I am scheduled for a color and cut, that's usually a 3 hour process?" The receptionist then said that they only allot 45 mins for application to the customer... (that still doesn't explain to me, why she would have another client at 1)? I told her that I did not understand that... I didn't want to argue with the receptionist so I told her I had to reschedule then. I than called my husband crying (because mind you I am stuck on some CRAZY bumper to bumper traffic on 45), he suggests that maybe they could still see me for just the cut. So I called back, and spoke to Ty again, and I asked if I could still go in just for a cut? She said "oh yeah we can do that". Well at this point, I am already upset. And I asked her, "Why couldn't you offer this option before? You tried absolutely nothing to work with me." She was very argumentative with me, she said that she did try because she offered to reschedule me for another day... she then interrupted me and said if I just wanted to speak to the owner. At this point, I am just done. I said no, that this is just poor service and a poor way to handle a new customer. About 20 mins later, as I am already on the way home, this same receptionist calls me back and informs me the stylist canceled on her cousins appointment and that she could work me in, but that I would have to expect to be there all day. At this point I am so done... Again, this should have been an option that should have been offered to me from the VERY BEGINNING when I was calling them to tell them I was running a little over 10 minutes late!!! This receptionist was very rude, snarky, argumentative, and sarcastic. I know that I was running late, but things like this happen. I cannot anticipate crazy stand still traffic, and actually I did anticipate traffic that's why I gave myself an extra 30 mins to get there!! This happened to me about 5 years ago when I was running late to my original stylist, but because they are a very reputable hair salon they worked with me, and at that time I was running 30 mins late! This receptionist had absolutely no empathy, was rude and has absolutely no business being in customer service. I am a first time customer, I am about to go to your salon and give you $350+, and this is the treatment that I get. Needless to say, I will never be going back to this salon ever again. I am sure the colorist and stylist are great and talented, but this kind of treatment is unacceptable. I will be going back to my original salon, M salon. Only go to Estilo Salon! I recommend this place to everyone because each experience here is stellar! The space is so light and beautiful - it's the type of salon that makes you want to just hang out there all day and drink their infused water. Everyone there is friendly and makes you feel relaxed. Destiny does 100% every single time... she's really a miracle worker. Seriously, I didn't know my hair was capable of looking like this!
