This office is simply amazing! Over the years 've been seen by all of the doctors and each of them are so thorough, professional, and caring. Everyone in the office provides great customer service and they're thoughtful about making sure that I feel at ease (whether it be new frames, new contact brands, new prescriptions). My last visit should have been a short check-up but I wanted to discuss Lasik and Dr. Patel went above and beyond to patiently explain not only the procedure, but answerd all of my questions and provided a detailed explanation about eye health and what to watch out for. I never feel rushed here and never have to wait long for the doctors. I moved to West LA a few years ago but still make the trek back to Cerritos because I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

There are three (I believe) doctors working at this optometry center. I've had Dr. Ahn as well as the younger, newer doctor, but I forgot her name. :T Either way, this is a great optometry center. It may not look as spiffy as some of the other optometry offices in Cerritos, but they're probably less expensive without sacrificing quality. For guys it may seem like there's a whole lot of and a little too much estrogen because every where you look there mostly females or females with their kids. Nonetheless the environment is really chill and the staff is really friendly. You get none of that "Yea whatevs~" attitude from the front desk unlike a lot of other businesses. What really stuck out to me about Dr. Ahn's practice was that I had always felt my left eye would be a little off, slightly blurry when I wore contacts. I used to think it was because my eyes were just extra dry, because that was what I had been told by my former optometrist leading me to switch from regular Acuvue to Acuvue Oasys which is a little more pricier. Yet... that blurriness continued to follow me even while wearing Oasys and dropping hundreds of re-wetting drops a day into my eye. Finally one day out of contacts for my left eye which are weaker in strength, I just decided to put a contact for my right eye into my left with the difference only being -.50. Right away I noticed a difference and the view from my left eye was sharper...eventually though, the blurriness came back, not as intense, but still there. On my first visit to Dr. Ahn's I told her the issue I had with my left eye and self-diagnosing myself, I suggested that maybe I just needed prescription eye drops for dry eyes or increasing the strength for my left eye. After doing the usual routine tests Dr. Ahn concluded that nothing was wrong with the moisture level or strength in prescription for the left eye. What the cause of all my headaches was the new revelation that my left eye has a slight astigmatism. She did a few more tests to tweak the strength in prescription and sent me home to wait for my glasses to be ordered. Never really noticing too much of a problem with glasses in general as far as my left eye was concerned, I didn't notice too big of a change other than extra clarity from my upgraded prescription. On my second visit, the younger doctor (whom I have forgotten the name and therefore will refer to as Dr. "Young"). Dr. "Young" was really friendly without any language barriers as I felt a tiny bit with Dr. Ahn. This time around I decided to be fitted for new contacts as wearing glasses for 365 days of the year just wasn't going to happen. Nuh uh~ Dr. "Young" was very thorough (just as Dr. Ahn was) in the routine tests, especially when testing out the different strengths. She confirmed I have astigmatism in my left eye as well as alerting me that I had a freckle inside my eye (invisible to the naked eye) that wasn't anything to be too concerned over, but aware of. Contacts for astigmatism being more costly than my Oasys, instead of having me decide right then and there what I wanted to do, she sent me home with two different pairs of contacts (one regular, one for astigmatism) for my left eye to try out for the week and see which one I preferred or if the difference in clarity wasn't a big enough deal to not shell out the extra cash. Well....instead of coming back the very next week after that appointment, I lagged and came back a month later. :P Dr. Young didn't make me feel guilty about my tardiness, but just laughed it off. Since quite some time had passed since my initial visit she rechecked my eyes to make sure I was given the right prescriptions. Being that I wore my free sample contacts every day for that month, she noted the debris on them and informed me that I should be switching out my contacts at least every 3 weeks and changing the case regularly, which was news to me! (Yes, I've worn contacts for over 3 months at a time till they were just foggy disks impairing my vision even more. I guess i'm a dirty girl. ^^ ) Dr. Young was cool about it and gave me a fresh new pair to wear until my actual order came in. In conclusion.... finally, Dr. Ahn's practice is really great. Even though I migrated from Cerritos to the La Habra/Fullerton/Brea area I still plan on returning here despite there are optometry offices closer to my new home. Being as welcoming and thorough as the whole staff there is no reason to leave. Especially being able to diagnose me correctly and catch a freckle that my other optometrists were not able to do after all the years that I've dealt with that irritating issue....really shows how skilled the people who work here are. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Ahn since I was a kid and loved her so much that I continued to see her even after moving away. My husband began seeing her after we married and was immediately impressed by Dr. Ahn's care. Now my 2-year-old enjoys her eye visits. Dr. Ahn is very caring and makes you feel so comfortable - just like an old friend! Not only does she care about your eyes' health but also your entire well-being. I have been going to Dr. Ahn for about 15 years. She and her team are so personable and friendly, I just cannot imagine a better optomotrist. Everytime we walk in they greet us by our first names. My wife and I started going to her office when we moved to Cerritos. Even though we moved 15 miles away a few years later, we still drive out of my way to go to her. Last year, she recommended a lasix surgeon. Both my wife and I got lasix surgery and we now see 20/20 and no longer need to wear glasses or contact lenses. Still, we see see Dr. Ahn very frequently. I visited Esther Ahn Optometry for the very first time last week, and had a very positive experience. At first, I was afraid I had made a mistake when I first arrived. There was only one person in the main reception area when I arrived, a gentleman who was clearly a staff member. I walked in expecting a greeting, but he didn't speak. I waited at the reception desk for about a minute. Just as I was about to say, "Well, this is awkward...", he told me that the office doesn't open until 10am. (It was 9:54). Moments later, someone came out to assist me. The first part of my exam was done by Rachel, who was very helpful and professional, which put me at ease. Then Dr. Patel took over. She was very thorough and extremely personable, making my experience quite pleasant. She even helped me to select new frames, as the optician was busy. Altogether, my visit went quite well. I've been seeing Dr. Esther Ahn for many years and her and her staff have always been awesome. So even when I moved kind of far away I made the trip to go see her. BUT This time was different. I was down to my last box of contacts and needed new glasses so I called to make an appt. Dr. Ahn was booked so they booked me with Dr. Patel. No problem since they have always been great. When I went there were whole new staff but still were nice. When Dr. Patel called me in, I didn't get that same comfortable feeling I had with Dr. Ahn. But thought maybe its just me. After the exam she had me try new contacts. But they didn't have the correct prescription sample for my right eye so she gave me a lower dose one and told me to try it and if I like it they will order with the correct prescription. Then looked for new frames for glasses but the girl wasn't very helpful or informative. Actually she was a bit irritated that I was taking long. Anyways tried the contact samples and liked them so ordered them. Made the trip to go pick them up. When I got home the right eye was the same as the samples. Called the office and told the girl and she wanted me to come back and pick up samples with correct prescription and try them again and waste my time and gas. Told her to just order the correct prescription but kept asking me if I wanted to try them and kept getting the prescription mixed up. Got very irritated and asked her why correct lenses weren't ordered in the first place. She put me on hold and got the office manager to talk to me. She said the same thing 'we will order you the prescription that you want. It'll be here in couple of days'. Wow! no apologies or anything! At this point I got really irritated and hung up. I am so disappointed! Needless to say I won't be going back. It's not worth the trip anymore. I will be picking up the correct lenses and my records and will be going somewhere closer to where I live. If anybody goes there, be sure to see Dr. Ahn! read more
