Everytime I go here the service is always a 10/10. If I need refills and need to call, the staff on the other end is always efficient and knowledgeable. I normally go to Kaiser Permanente for my eye exams but the earliest appointment was months away. I searched around and found Cerritos 2020 Optometry through Yelp and am glad to testify that they deserve a high rating. Insurance and Coverage: This place accepts VSP. (CHECK YOUR INSURANCE AND COVERAGE. MY PRICES MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM YOURS.) I only had to pay a $10 copay. The eye exam was covered under my insurance. The lens would cost me approximately $129 and frames would cost me whatever sticker price is listed (They didn't have the price listed on the glasses, but I asked and some frames were around $150 and higher.) My VSP insurance only covered $160 for both lens and frames, so do the math and I would still have to pay out of pocket. Just a heads up for anyone shopping around for new lens and frames. VSP insurance won't cover all of it. Experience: My optometrist was Dr. Matthew Khamis, and he was very friendly and professional. I warned him that I had very sensitive eyes. Light would make me cry and eye drops would make me flinch. During the eye exam, he made the whole process a breeze. All the staff were friendly and explained all the procedures and costs honestly. I called them and was easily able to set up an appointment for the next day with Dr.​ ​Sharon ​Mallari Bolado.​ ​ When I arrived, everything is still very Covid-conscious: you must ring the bell to enter, wear a mask, and socially distance. Dr Sharon was amazing and so sweet in explaining everything to me. She was patient and didn't rush or hurry me at all. I genuinely have no complaints and am very happy with my experience. I've had great vision all my life, so fortunately, I've not had to see the Optometrist.   However, my employer has mandated I have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20. I felt I was getting to the age where I was borderline and that means time to visit the eye doc. One problem!  I was terrified of the Eye Doctor or the fact I had to wear glasses.  Why was I so scared? Really no reason, just the unknown. What would glasses be like.  How will it feel? How will I feel to see through them? What if I get a wrong Rx....The thoughts kept running in my mind.       I truly remember shaking when I drove to the Office. However, as I walked in all that nervousness suddenly disappeared.  I was warmly welcomed by the staff and they assured me I was at home.   My appointment started right on time and Dr. Mallari patiently walked me through a series of eye health tests she was going to perform on me.  I had tons of questions (I'm sure silly sounding to her), but she patiently and thoroughly talked me through my concerns and unfounded fears.  Dr Malari performed no less than 13 exams on me, and fortunately, for not having any eye exams for 38 years, my eye health was normal. One of the tests excited me.  A color blind test. I always knew I was thoroughly color blind, but what I didn't know was what kind of color blindness I was.  Not only did she explain the type of color blindness, she gave me some interesting literature on the type I had. I didn't know there were different kinds.    Dr Malari showed me photos of my eye, etc, and recommended a diet for me and tips for proper eye health, such as eliminating heavy blue wavelengths. Near vision was fine and the distance was close to 20/20 but could use a tune up.    Gulp. Time for a Rx. I was then escorted to meet Ernest, the Optician. I literally didn't know the first thing about eyeglasses.   I had probably a dozen questions for him. He patiently went over the different materials, the pros and cons for each and watched me try on what I felt as every pair in the store.      It was like I was talking with a friend. There was never, ever any pressure to buy and I actually don't even remember the point of sale, or if and when it even happened. He just said my glasses will be ready sometime next week and I came to pick them up.  I think I just made my own sale and he just went along with it. Very easy going. Dr Mallari nailed my Rx on the first go.   Amazing. As mentioned, I never had glasses before and upon putting them on it was a whole new world.   I remember exclaiming looking at a far off group of trees, that "the tree has leaves, the tree has leaves!!"     Clarity! I love my new pair and ended up ordering three! One day and one night. I love being able to drive with more confidence and not being so concerned with reading signs.           Dr Mallari, Ernest and staff are courteous, helpful, and above all, professional in every sense of the word.   They truly want to spend as much time with you until you are satisfied. One funny caveat to the story. I ended up getting my medical test for my work which includes a vision test.    Funny enough I'm still 20/20 far and near. I didn't "need" the glasses to pass the exam but love wearing them to enhance my vision.     Dr, Ernest -   THANK you for saving my career.   Thank you for providing such clarity and confidence in my work performance.   I find myself now spotting other aircraft traffic much more rapidly than before.    I appreciate all you have done for me. You literally have gone the extra mile for me, from calling insurance companies to find out if I qualify for insurance to helping me get the perfect lens fitting.      Looking forward to my next appointment. read more

I didn't want to give this place a one star review because their doctor is phenomenal. My husband and I have nothing but great things to say about his professionalism, knowledge, and bedside manner. Even with that in mind, I decided to write this review. I hope it helps a new or current client of theirs. My husband and I got our exams done here and I've purchased 3 pairs of high end glasses from them. In 2018, my husband came in with an Oliver Peoples pair that was gifted to him. We signed paperwork and they sent his pair and the pair I bought there to the lab. A couple of days later, we get a call saying the lab broke his glasses and they wanted to know if we could come in to buy a different pair. NO. We gave them expensive glasses, we did not want to buy a new pair. We wanted our pair replaced. There was a lot of back and forth and we called VSP to vent our frustration and dissatisfaction with how they handled this matter. This was the most upsetting fact about this exchange: The guy who handled our paperwork LIED. He told my husband that he explicitly went over the fact that glasses not bought in their store were NOT COVERED. If they or the lab broke them, THEY HAD NO LIABILITY. If they would have told me this and it wasn't only in the small print, we would have turned around and looked long and hard for a different optometrist. I know what I heard and we were not warned about this. It was the end of the day and they were closed. We were one of three customers being assisted towards the end of the day. They were in a rush to get things wrapped up. If they would have apologized and said, "You know what, we may not have told you with words, but it's in the small print," I would have said, "True. We're dumb for not reading it all even though we felt pressured to hurry and leave." But they had the audacity to say they did warn us and we still turned in our glasses. That was unacceptable and that's why they lost us and my family as clients. They ended up replacing our pair, but that's because we called VSP and made a complaint. They never apologized. They were upset they had to replace my husband's expensive gift. Next time, do warn your customers first. AND DON'T LIE! Apologize, fix it, and move on. Your solid 5 stars aren't going to fool real customers who experience this kind of disrespect. Everything was fine until we had an issue, but you handled it in the most unprofessional manner. Call around and you'll see there are plenty of optometrists who take responsibility for the things they break and are willing to make it right without putting the blame on you. read more

This office is exceptional in so many ways. I've never had an eye exam where I learned so much about my eye and the actual exam until I started having my exam with Cerritos 2020. Dr. Mallari-Bolado is so thorough! The attention and care I get is consistent every year. The covid protocol there is also on point! Now my glasses... I love my glasses. Finalllllly I found my optometrist!! This has been my third optometrist I have seen in the last 4 years. I have two young children so its hard to schedule appointments and they have excellent hours and had a next day appointment available. Most optometrist book 3 weeks out! I saw Dr Kim and she was so great. So much explaining of every aspect. I really appreciated it. All staff was so great. I had my 2yr old with me and everyone was so accommodating with him. Dr. Fernando is the best!! Our family has been going to her for years and we couldn't ask for a better optometrist. She is friendly, honest, and takes the time to explain everything to you. I was also pleased with the girls at the front. When checking in Michelle was very efficient and worked with me right away. After receiving what I believed to be the wrong prescription from my last optometrist, he encouraged me to give it more time for my eyes to adjust. They never adjusted. I was so dissatisfied I had to look for a new optometrist. The internet prevails again. Thanks to Yelp, I found Cerritos 2020 locally. Exceptional service, through and through. The best optometry appointment I have had; EVER. From beginning to end, I was greeted with a smile and professionalism from all staff members. I didn't feel rushed through the preliminary tests or the through the exam with Dr. Khamis. He was very easy to speak with and even joked with me along the way, making it a more enjoyable experience. He explained everything in a manner that I could understand and was very thorough with his questioning related to my health history to ensure that he provided the appropriate responses and complete diagnosis. Turns out, I was right, and the previous prescription was completely wrong. I have nearly 20/20 vision. Per Dr. Khamis, due to my astigmatism, it would help to have a very low prescription. I was helped by Ernest, the optician to pick out frames and choose my lenses. He was so very nice and helpful as well. He also informed me that I have double vision coverage (medical insurance and through my union) and no one ever informed me of this! Anyway, he was not pushy whatsoever with the upgrades (blue filtering, anti-glare, etc.) for the lenses. I brought my own frames and ended up walking away with paying $95.00 out of pocket for anti-glare even though Ernest suggested that I didn't need it. I was prepared to pay $350+ which is what I am used to. If you are looking for a complete and thorough eye exam with the most nice, professional, and non-pushy people-- this is the place the go. read more

Dr. Fujimoto bought the practice from her old partners who retired. I have a friend and an instructor as her patients too. She has high tech testing equipment but when she takes polaroids of my retinas, it looks like a bomb went off and erased the world for a few seconds. There is a room painted to look like clouds and the sky to calm children. If you want nose pads replaced it costs $5. The lenses I ordered through them have parallel cracks two years later. They don't have good inventory for prescription sunglasses. read more

Stay away from this place! They try to upsell you and make undisclosed charges. I went in for an eye exam only. When I was paying I was asked if I would like to purchase contacts, to which my response was no. My total came up to $180 with insurance! I asked what was I being charged for since I only got an eye exam. The response they gave me was materials. I asked what she meant by materials. she said they would charge me for materials and keep it as credit for when I do decide to purchase contacts. I said no, I told you that I would not like to purchase contacts. She was also not disclosing this "credit" to me when she gave me the total until I questioned it. After she took of the "materials" charge my total was $70. Still the most expensive copay I've ever paid. My copay is usually $50 elsewhere. read more

I love this optometry office! I've been coming here ever since I was a kid. My entire family comes here because of their amazing service and awesome staff members! I would drive 30+ miles to make sure that I continue my service here. Both Dr. Fernando and Dr. Mallari are amazing! I've never had problems making an appointment, getting reminder calls/texts for appointments, getting my frames for my glasses or contacts, and they are so flexible and accommodating. Dr. Mallari Hands down the best eye doc I have seen. I took my two kids for their eye exams and she was very thorough and really connected with the kids. Often kids aren't comfortable with doctors in general, so this was great. They really liked her as well. She was very accommodating with adding on my 2nd child for her exam. I've been coming here for years and was very satisfied with my exam and glasses. My most recent appointment was very disappointing. I had a new doctor and my glasses are so difficult to see out of that I went back to my old ones. I don't know if they changed technicians who make the glasses or if it was the eye exam it's causing the problem. I have blurred vision with the new glasses. Even when it appears to be a buys day, she is very attentive and detailed in answering any questions. The eye exam is comprehensive and the staff are friendly. The office has a calm pleasant ambience. They take digital images of your eyeballs and check for lots of things. They even do an eye pressure test (with anesthetic eye drops). So if it was just about the eye exam I would give five stars. I gave it four stars because I'm not happy with the way my glasses turned out, twice. The first time, the fitting was not done properly (by a girl who was probably new at it)and I had to go back a few times because I kept getting headaches. The second set of glasses had hardly any close-up to the progressive lenses, and now I have problems reading things close up. I spent hundreds of dollars...So bottom line: get your eyes examined here but order your glasses somewh else. read more

Due to the nature of my work in which I stare straight at a computer screen for close to 8 hours a day - five days a week, I came here to have an eye examination to see if there were any preventive measures I needed to take before I eventually am forced to wear ocular-shaped eyeglasses similar to that of "Doc" from Snow white and Seven Dwarves. After my examination, I was compelled to leave a yelp review commenting on the Marvel-ous experience I had here. The staff was Incredible. Everyone, from the front desk, the doctors, assistants and the eye-wear associate were very knowledgeable and well versed in answering specific questions and concerns as well as recommending (or not recommending) procedures/services that are just right or may be overkill. Which was really helpful if you've never had an eye exam before or are not a doctor. I wanted to also give a specific shout out to Dr. Khamis, who was very professional and knowledgeable during my visit. My experience with him could probably be comparable to that of "visiting an old friend". "Dr. K" (I don't think anyone calls him this) was friendly/courteous and made sure I was well informed of the health of my eye, as well as suggesting ways on which I can preserve the overall health of my eye well into retirement (30+ years from now). I will most definitely be back here as soon as my vision starts blurring or I develop some sort of disease in my eye... or whenever I need new glasses. read more

They have appointments spaced out to allow for social distancing and clean every station after every patient. They also have a machine to disinfect after any pair of glasses that you try on. I'm a 29 year old with old lady vision. But, thanks for Dr. Fujimoto and Associates, I can see clearly! If it wasn't for them, I'd definitely would have been squinting my way through school and work. Dr. Fujimoto has been my eye doctor forever (I think I started going there when I was in elementary school). This optometry is the first and only optometry that I would go to. The WHOLE ENTIRE staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and really care about their patients. (Dr. Fujimoto doesn't mess around when she hires new staff.) Know you will be taken care of very well when you go in. I would definitely recommend this optometry. I don't think that Dr. Fujimoto is accepting anymore patients, but I'd feel safe putting my eyes in the hands of the other doctors, whom I've had the chance to meet and would occasionally be seen by them if my schedule does not fit with Dr. Fujimoto's. Probably one of the best practices out there and the best staff. I am a patient of Dr. Fujimoto and I am always impressed at how thorough the eye examinations are. Dr. Fujimoto specializes in diabetics and takes extra time to help you understand what problems are specific to diabetics and how to best take care of yourself. Dr. Fujimoto's staff and associate doctors are very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this practice to anyone, especially those with diabetes. read more

Yes, she is a busy woman and getting an appointment may be difficult because many of her patients are so devoted to her that no one ever cancels their appointments. You must go HERE. It's worth the drive and well worth the time they spend with you. I've been wearing glasses since 1983, and this is the best office I've ever been to. The exam is the most thorough and very interesting. They even checked my blood pressure. I went in knowing I needed to have different glasses since I am on the computer 12 hours a day for work, and I didn't want bifocals yet. I was fitting with the perfect glasses to use for computer work, ones I could see 2 feet away, and also 8 inches away without having to take them off like my old ones. I am very happy. They have a great selection, and since I am on a tight budget, they had some good looking, and well-made frames, that only cost me $4 above what my insurance would pay. read more

I have been wearing glasses/contact lenses for over 30 years and have visited MANY optometrists but once I visited Fujimoto and Associates about 15 years ago, I never went back to others. First of all, the doctors are very competent, professional and friendly. They will take their time listening and explaining everything related to the health of your eyes as well as your overall health. They provide the most comprehensive exam of your eyes and they are very thorough. You will not be rushed through your exam. For the past 5+ years, I have been a patient to Dr. Fernando. She is so very sweet! The glasses and contact lenses are a bit pricey but the services they provide make it worthwhile for me to drive an hour for my yearly exams. I have since took my children there and they are very good with children as well. The staff members are also very friendly.
