I went to Estee based on glowing recommendations from a friend who had her dress altered by her. Even though Estee had worked with her a few years ago she totally remembered my friend and her dress. First things first, Estee is a very talented seamstress that does very affordable alterations. This is probably why she is booked months in advance. I started going to her in January for a July wedding, and I called her in November to book my first appointment. She also strictly only does wedding dresses. She works out of her home, so fittings are usually on weekdays. Follow her directions on the phone exactly, because the numbering of the houses there make literally no sense. You'll be changing in her guest bathroom and modelling in her living room. Don't worry usually no one else is home, she makes sure her husband is out of there during appointments. I had three fitting appointments with Estee because I am crazy short and wedding dresses are designed for tall models. I had a somewhat complicated dress and she managed to hem it perfectly around the pattern on the bottom and under the bodice. She also added a bustle to hold up a heavy dress. She also sewed in a nice set of boobs (bra cups) for the top. Estee is also the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet. I was actually kind of sad at our last fitting because she was so nice to talk to, I was devising ways to get more wedding dresses altered. Luckily she was more than willing to do the alterations and still give me three fittings. I purchased a lace dress at David's Bridal and when it arrived, it was ridiculously LONG. I was worried too much of the lace would be taken off but NOPE, Estee was able to remove the perfect amount of fabric and saved the lace for my bouquet! She had to restitch the lace by hand and you couldn't even tell she removed any of it. I chose an American bustle which turned out amazing. I also wanted a corset back and she said it's time consuming and has to be done one by one. I felt bad for her hands so I found a product on Amazon; "Laceéis TM Corset Closure". This product definitely saved her time and looked great. If you don't want to use this product, she will still create a corset back for you. If you want a corset back, I recommend this product! Estee was able to take some inches off of my gown (I'm only 5'2), add a bustle, and cinch the gown at my waist and thighs to create a more hour-glass look. She took the dress in more at the knees so that it would create more of a flair/mermaid look than it originally did and created a "V" cut for the back of my dress across my back. For me, the greatest challenge was scheduling fitting appointments because of her limited availability on evenings and weekends. In fact, she made the belt the perfect width the first time around without ever having asked me what size I wanted. The hem and waist had to come in a lot because I am petite, and Estee did them masterfully despite facing difficulties from the poorly-manufactured boning in my dress. She created an Italian bustle (fabric hooks in underneath the dress so that it all looks like one even hem) for me for no extra cost than a French or American bustle -- her ingenious suggestion. Also, I asked her to try to create drapey, romantic, off-the-shoulder sleeves from the fabric that came off the hem (I'm 5'0", so she had a lot to work with). I showed her a picture of what I was imagining and let her experiment from there. She created exactly what I wanted -- to a T. They were amazing (and removable!). All of this cost me a fraction of what it would have if I had gone somewhere else -- not to mention that every other seamstress I brought this to with the sleeve idea outright said it was impossible. While it was the perfect dress for me and I knew that it was the style I wanted, it was 6 sizes too big. When I kept reading all these wedding dress horror stories about how alterations didn't go well and people had to buy new dresses or folks who were being charged a fortune to take dresses in, I started to get nervous about the whole thing. I knew that I didn't want to spend more than the cost of the dress to get the damn thing altered, so I started to hunt around on wedding wire for the perfect seamstress.
