The previous management or different owners at this address had a lady who went right for the hard sell and I'm like "nah." I'm glad I kept cruising by and tried again after seeing enough to sense this business changed. These owners/ techs are legit! My 2009 MacBook Pro "17 was incrementally glitching and I'm so glad it acted-up there at eStar Techs on a Friday morning. The tech could have told me that I needed a replacement screen after troubleshooting, but he was honest: it was the connector between the screen and motherboard that was just a bit lose and had some corrosion. A screen replacement was going to be the money suck, but he just cleaned it up so my investment could go towards swapping a messed-up optical drive, swapping a battery that had super high power cycles, and swapping the Hitachi for a SSD to improve speed (therefore responsiveness). It was more than a fair price for parts and labor so to those of us under employed or outright unemployed, paying eStarTechs to extend the life of older devices is a good investment. No regrets here and a quick turnaround to minimize downtime. read more

The only downside is they told us we would get a call before they begin repairing so we can know the cost. They fixed it first and called us later. It took about 4-5 days. My regular computer repair service was closed and didn't answer the phone,so I googled computer repair in the area. Tech Builders was nearby, so I drove there with my laptop. At first, I was reluctant to try a new place, but Rain and Jayson came through for me. I was relieved because, although I use an external hard drive to back up regularly, unbeknownst to me, my external drive was full and hadn't been backing up for over a month. Whew! So relieved that they accurately diagnosed the problem. They replaced the motherboard and reinstalled Windows. They charged me an appropriate fee for the work. So I was happy and relieved. I hadn't been able to get beyond the black screen of death, although I tried all the usual fixes, short of opening the laptop. Now my laptop is functioning and at a top speed. Good job, you two. My computer died and did not have a removable hard drive so I couldn't get the data off. I was desperate and tried many places who would not even attempt to solder the memory chip off.
