Flan with dulce
Alan S.

I wouldn't start a review in reverse order if not for the dessert being the star of the show. Who knew that it was never nutella, but dulce de leche that should really be filling crepes worldwide. And in case that dulce was insufficient, Estancia provides another generous delicious dollop with the otherwise airy flan. Among the main courses, served in pleasant and buzzy if somewhat unmemorable environs, the favorites were the pizza bianca, which had a perfect combination of garlicky spinach with mild ricotta and funky gorgonzola, and the grilled mozzarella, which was a welcome upgrade to a traditional caprese. As for appetizers, I would skip the empanadas - don't expect the delicate baked varieties found within the city limits of Buenos Aires, these were heavily fried.

YUM! Estancia 460 is a great place to pop into if you are in Tribeca and looking for something a little more low key. The sandwiches are incredible, same with the drinks and selection of wines. The fries are so crispy too. The portions are slightly smaller however so amazing. The steak on the bistecca sandwich was delicious.

Looooved this place! Came here numerous times during the summer as they have some of the best aperol spritzes by far. The seating outside is perfectly tucked away on a quiet Tribeca street. Not only are the drinks good but the food was outstanding. We've been here so many times and have tried a variety of things. What stood out to me was the parm crusted chicken and the chicken salad. A perfect satiating meal. Servers and service is also one for the books. Worth going to!

Loved this place! I came across their menu online and everything sounded so good so I decided to try it. The food was all great, portions were huge, and I loved the casual/family-friendly vibe of the restaurant.

Ribeye

On Friday night, my friend and I went here for a cute friend date. The vibes are very cute, but unfortunately the food we ordered was pretty mediocre. The place is hard to find at first and I passed it cuz it looks like some random building and the restaurant name is pretty small on the window. The starting bread was delicious and we got the garlic shrimp appetizer which was pretty good. Unfortunately we both got the ribeye and neither of us liked our steaks. Perhaps other things on the menu were better, but the ribeye was not seasoned well. The flavor was pretty bland and my steak (which I ordered medium and it was a little too red) was kinda stringy. The mashed potatoes that came with the steak were okay. I didn't mind them but I wouldn't go out of my way to order them. They're very garlicky and I think my preference is more creamy and buttery. That's just a preference thing though. I do believe that the steaks we received were objectively subpar. The servers were nice but we also felt very rushed by them to order and then to leave at the end. I wouldn't go back because I spent $75 on a meal that was okay. (That's one drink, a shared appetizer, the main and tip.) There is probably other food that is actually delicious here but unfortunately there are so many restaurants in NY that I would want to try a new place first!

All the good reviews are incredibly misleading. What I liked: - The vibe - The chorizo Problems: - Food takes about 30-45min to arrive - Asked for medium steak and it came out quite rare - Lack of service We sat and stared at the kitchen door waiting for our food to come even after the drinks were done. There are other restaurants with better quality food and similar vibes. I would go elsewhere.

Cheese and meat platter for 2- really need some moisture

I'm very disappointed in the quality of food at this restaurant, for TriBeCa I really expected better quality. Argentina food is well know for their meat so I ordered the entrana (skirt flank steak). By far it was the worst steak I have ever eaten in my life! I had to try very hard to cut into my steak! It literally took ten strokes across the plate to get in piece off and mind you I ordered medium rare. (They did get the color right.) Not only could i not cut through with my knife I could barely chew it and swallow it. It was also to burnt for my taste. I can still taste the burnt meat in my mouth Perhaps it was my mouth getting exhausted from working out but the kale that came along was also hard to chew and really lacked flavor. At the end of my meal my mouth was sore and tired from chewing. I was very hungry so I ate the whole thing. Now you would ask why didn't i ask someone to swamp out my steak. That's because no one came to ask how we were doing. No one really came around to replenish the water. This lack of service is very unacceptable when it wasn't a pack night. The hostess just stood there looking pretty. Now the terrible steak is why I'm giving this a 1 star. But on top of that we order share meat and cheese platter as appetizer. It came out pretty dry and I wasn't so impressed by the meat and cheese. It was subpar. Maybe they could have drizzled some EVOO on the greens. If you are looking for some good Argentina steak house, I would recommend visiting Buenos Aires in the east village. You get more bang for you buck there and definitely no hard to chew steak

All were at least warm and delicious (for a tapas place where food is prepared and served as it's ready), with some being incredibly exceptional (the patatas bravas and chicken skewers to name two). The waitress was kind and attentive to our needs. And even though we were sitting outside next to one of the busier streets in midtown Manhattan, the outdoor patio was vibrant and comfortable. From the very first point of contact, the staff at Boqueria were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were incredibly communicative throughout the planning process and were happy to offer thoughtful suggestions whenever I asked -- which took so much of the stress out of organizing a group event. The day of the dinner, they seated us in a semi-private room that had a full view into the kitchen, which was such a fun touch. My team loved watching the action behind the scenes -- it added a really cool energy to the evening. The service throughout the night was prompt and friendly, and the food? Absolutely delicious. We went with a family-style spread that included a variety of appetizers, entrées, and dessert tapas. Honestly, the food just kept coming and coming! Even though the plates were on the smaller side (as you'd expect with tapas), don't let that fool you -- there was more than enough food. By the end of the meal, every single person at the table was completely stuffed and raving about how good everything was. And I have to mention the sangria -- they had a wonderful selection of different sangrias that went down very well with my team. It was the perfect complement to the meal. If you're looking for a spot for a team dinner or a smaller group occasion, I would highly recommend Boqueria. They truly bring Spanish hospitality to NYC. You won't be disappointed!

We got their mixed ceviche to start, which was very onion heavy, but overall the seafood was tender and good. For mains, we tried the lomo saltado, chicken Chop suey, and aji de gallina. While I liked the lomo saltado, the aji de gallina was my favorite - the chicken was incredibly flavorful, and the yellow rice and yuca fries were divine. I would skip on the cilantro rice, as I found it a bit dry. The chop suey dish also fell a bit flat for me. I would definitely come back for their lunch specials and aji de gallina!

I've been coming here for over 10 years, but after visiting twice in the past two weeks and once a few months ago, I've unfortunately been increasingly disappointed. The food and service just aren't what they used to be, while the prices have continued to go up. A few months ago, my paella, which I've ordered many times over the years, tasted off. I didn't say anything then because I figured it was just an off night. But then two weeks ago, my kids and I were served fried wontons that were raw/semi-raw inside. They did take them off the bill, but unfortunately we had each already eaten one before realizing. On our most recent visit last week, we sat for about 10 minutes before we had to get someone's attention to come over to us. We put our apps in and then nobody came back to take our order until the apps were coming out. The girl who brought our drinks had the wrong drinks. My soup was completely forgotten, and my son's food didn't come out with the rest of our meals. He ended up eating some of mine while waiting, and by the time his sides finally came, he didn't even want them anymore. The fried wontons on this visit were absolutely fine though and the food was delicious. I genuinely hate leaving three stars for this because this has been a favorite of mine for so many years, and I have a lot of good memories here. But after several disappointing visits in a row, it's becoming harder to overlook the decline in both quality and service. The servers used to be very attentive and friendly. I really hope things improve because I'd love to enjoy this place the way I used to.

The table we sat at was quite large, and I think it could have fit a few more people. The staff was friendly, and the lighting wasn't too dark, nor was it too loud. While I liked the atmosphere, I found the food, or rather specifically the tapas, to be not good at best, while the main dishes were better but also ranged in quality. The fact that the tapas we ordered were pretty closely priced to the mains means I would recommend the mains only based on portion and taste alone. To drink, a bunch of us split a bottle of wine from their large and pretty reasonably priced selection. The first tapas that arrived was something that I could not eat. This was the Pulpo Zarautz for $32, listed as octopus with garlic and merken seasoning served over mashed baby potatoes. The dish was small, and people thought it was OK as they found the pieces of octopus a tad chewy. They liked the spices but were surprised that the potatoes were a bit cool. The $24 Gambas Al Ajillo, with slow-cooked prawns, white wine, EVOO, garlic, and mermen, was alright. There was a handful of shrimp, and they were decently cooked, but the "ajillo," or rather, the garlic, was very light. Therefore, I found it a bit bland, which is almost never the case for this dish. I wouldn't recommend this based on price and flavor. Last and least of the tapas was the $22 Tortilla De Patatas, listed simply as a Spanish omelette. There was an option to add chorizo for $2 more, which we did. Along with the omelette, this also arrived with a few sauces and some pieces of crunchy bread, which were the highlight, as the omelette wasn't good either. The texture of the omelette was very different than any other Spanish omelette I've ever had. It was quite soft with a bit of chew, with a mild chorizo flavor. Along with the greenish color, it wasn't exactly appetizing. I wouldn't recommend this at all, but thankfully, that was the last tapas we ordered. My favorite of the main dishes was the Solomillo & Pebre for $28, listed as skirt steak topped with parsley and olive oil, with hand-cut fried potato and salad. While not the most tender, as it is a skirt steak, it was still well-flavored with the topping almost reminding me, to an extent, of a less oily version of chimichurri. The potatoes had a unique texture, being slightly crispy on the outside while remaining slightly soft in the middle. The salad on the side, which also arrived with one of our other mains, was a tasty mix and certainly more effort than a typical salad you find in many of these places. We also liked the $32 Costillas De Cerdito, with pork ribs in beer, mustard, and rosemary with hand-cut fried potato and salad. The pork ribs were flavorful, though I did find a bit of it to be a bit fatty, but some of that is expected with pork ribs. The mildly sweet and slightly rich sauce paired with the pork ribs. The same comments from before can be made about the potatoes and salad. Last was the OK Paella De Mariscos for $38, listed as rice cooked with shrimp, mussels, clams, prawns, and fresh saffron. The portion size was good, with a lot of mussels and clams in particular, and a handful of shrimp. Of the bite I had of the two large prawns, they were plump and juicy as well. However, the rice was both a bit bland and a tad mushy and felt a bit overcooked compared to many other paellas. There was some socarrat on the bottom as per usual, which was the best part. It's a bit difficult to rate this place. The spices, textures, and flavors were lacking from the overpriced tapas, and I honestly wouldn't recommend any of them. For the main dishes, they were tasty, but you can get a better-cooked skirt steak at many other places for a similar price. The ribs were decent, and the paella was just OK. If we only had the tapas, I probably would be giving this place a 1, but for the whole meal, an upper 2, rounded up.

The Socarrat Paella Bar NYC Restaurant Week menu offers three courses for $45 per person (tapas, main course, and dessert.) For tapas, I chose the chorizo croquettes. These were crispy and creamy croquettes. For main course, the three of us got the socarrat paella. Our server said the paella has a minimum order of 2 servings. Since we were a group of 3, the paella was for 3 servings. The socarrat paella has free-range bone-in chicken, chorizo, shrimp, white fish, squid, mussels, cockles, fava beans, peppers, and tomato sofrito. This was very good and not a single grain of rice was left. For dessert, I had the flan. It was a sweet way to end our night. For drinks, I had a glass of the sangria de cava and we shared a pitcher for the sangria rosé. Both were very good, but I did like the sangria de cava a bit better. Service was amazing and the bartender who was tending to us was very friendly. Sometimes excellent service is more than simply getting the order right, it's a little bit of encouragement and warmth someone can bring with their authenticity. The food was fantastic. The Patatas Bravas arrived piping hot with an irresistibly crispy exterior. The smoky paprika was bursting with flavor and brought just the right amount of spicy heat, while the creamy garlic aioli rounded everything out beautifully. The Jamón Ibérico Croquetas were another highlight: crispy panko breading encasing a creamy, savory ham interior. The black garlic aioli added another layer of flavor, while the candied lemon peel gave the dish a wonderful burst of freshness.
