The last salon I frequented did a nice job, but it took 8+ hours and was crazy expensive. I have none of those complaints at Gary Charles. My hair looks amazing after, at the most, two hours in the chair. I happen to really like the two person set up, where one person colors and the other cuts and styles. For coloring, I have been seeing Holly, and she does an absolutely amazing job. I just got my summer highlights (albeit a bit early!) and have gotten loads of compliments. A few admirers are even giving the salon a try after checking out my new look. It amazes me that it only takes her a fraction of the time it has taken other colorists, and looks every bit as good, if not better. Duffy has been cutting my hair and she does a fabulous job as well. I love that she tells me what will and won't work for my super thin hair, and gives me just what I ask for. She also does extensions which look gorgeous, and I'm seriously considering! The rest of the salon has an upscale feel which I love. They have cute boutique items available for purchase, and carry wonderful hair products as well. I always treat myself to a new product when I get my hair done. Instead of showing understanding, I was questioned on the phone in a way that felt unnecessary and unprofessional. A little more courtesy and flexibility would go along way. That said, the hair stylist, Chloe, completely turned the experience around. She was absolutely wonderful--patient, kind, and very engaging with my 5-year-old during her appointment. They will always make sure to fit you in on the schedule and there is never a wait if you schedule your appointment. Always running on time which is convenient for someone who is busy. The stylist I first went to here is longer with Studio 108, however now that I have had a haircut by two of the other stylists I still choose to go back. Reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere inside. Parking can possibly be difficult if you go on a particularly busy night in Langhorne. Usually there are spots behind the salon and if full there is always street parking. Cash only for tips.

The scheduling is always prompt and accommodating. Frankie did my color for years when I lived in Bucks. It was always what I wanted. Aside from awesome color I always loved how fast he was with foils. I hate sitting in the chair for hours, and with Frankie it was never like that. When I have an event in Philly, Andrea is always my go to makeup artist. She's very talented, sweet, and always makes me look amazing!!! I always get so many compliments. Most importantly I would like to highlight Kristin! As I told her today, I wish she would move to LA. I have very curly, wild hair and have had weekly blowouts for the last decade. They do a good…read morejob cutting and coloring, but multiple times have had them tell me day of as I walk in that the appointment had to be canceled due to the stylist being sick , but they had the wrong phone number for me , and did not send an email so I came in, and then was told OH I'm sorry, your stylist is sick. On other occasions I was late, maybe 10 minutes, and because of road construction and a train that I had to wait for..which is not their fault nor mine...but they completely canceled the appointment made no accommodations. Very very very disappointing and even though the cut and color is good , I am going to refuse to give my business to them and find somewhere else. I am sure it won't matter in the long run , but when a hair cut is a treat and I go out of my way to plan my day around it or make it on a day I have off of work to be able to take my daughter and am just met with Oops! Or Sorry you had to wait for a train but ya cant get your hair done... I dunno, it just stinks. Without even trying to work it out or even pretending to do so. And once they called while I was on my way, told me I could get cut but no blow dry and then when I walked in said it is completely canceled. She RUINED my hair by putting me under heat for an hour with bleach (which I…read morelater found out to be a stylist BIG No-No), overcharged, and was just so incredibly rude, almost like a bully in the way she talked to me. The first time I went to her, she called it a corrective process because she was fixing my hair, so about $280 + tip later, I was so much more blonde than the picture I had shown her and my bright blonde highlights didn't even start at the top of my head and were brassy. I went back for her to tone them down about 3 days later, booking it as a corrective color, and she said I had to pay $30 for the glaze and softening, because she could have done that the first time around if I had more time to stay past the 3 HOURS I was already there! I told her that I needed to go home and let my eyes adjust to the color before figuring out if I needed anything. I should 100% never have been charged that $30, but paid it to keep the peace. So for over a month and a half, I had hair that was still too blonde. When I booked my second appointment, I booked a root color and asked if Michelle could add a few lowlights to offset all the blonde, and she did, basically turning my hair now brown with only a hint of blonde showing. When I got home, all I could see was that my hair was brown and thought that I have now paid too much money to NOT get what I want for the second time! So I called back and asked if someone there, that didn't even have to be Michelle, could make my blond stand out more, and the girl at the front desk said Michelle would call me back. When she did, right away she was making excuses about how my hair is a work in progress and how now this is the second time I'm calling to correct her work, and I said to her that I just want brown hair with blonde highlights and that I'm paying too much money each time to not get what I want and not loving my hair! Then Michelle said ok, then why don't we do this - since you seem to have to come back every time, then I'll just reimburse you for your hair and you can find someone else to go to! When I said that sounds great, she said, "Ok I'll talk to my boss and we'll refund you!" And hung up on me! Fast forward to 6 months later and MY ENTIRE head of hair has broken off and is the most damaged it has ever been. I have never been put under heat for my blonde highlights, but Michelle did, and I was under heat for close to an hour. What I found out later by other stylists, was that should have NEVER happened. NEVER EVER should you put tons of bleach on someone's hair and then keep them under heat for any period of time, let alone an HOUR because she said the "blonde wasn't lifting!" She completely destroyed my hair. I always had fine hair, so there wasn't a need to ever put me under heat with bleach, and now it's so thin and broken, to where I'm actually embarrassed. I'm appalled at Michelle's lack of knowledge or professional care about my hair, and what she did to it, as a supposed "veteran" hair stylist.

All the women who work at Hot Waves are talented and friendly - everyone feels like a friend. Laura cut my hair today and I don't think I have ever been so happy with a cut and style in my life! She took the time to understand my hair needs to make sure I had the best style for my hair type (I have long, thick, wavy hair that can be tough to style) and I could not be happier with the results! Laura is a miracle worker. Their prices are also VERY fair, especially for a salon in the city, and they are not pushy at all when it comes to add on services or product. I can't recommend Hot Waves enough - in my opinion, it's the best salon in the city.

I was looking for a new salon after my longtime nail tech changed salons which was too far away for…read moreme. After doing some research I came across this salon. I called to make an appointment and immediately told the receptionist that I am VERY picky and would not be happy with a new/inexperienced or bad tech (I thought this would save us both the headache of dealing with any problems)- she said no problem and scheduled me for pedicure and full set. I got the pedicure first, I could immediately tell she was all of the above and then some. Salon owners: do not treat paying customers as student models! She used the electric dead skin remover as hammer on my heels. She wanted to use electric filer on my natural toe nails - for what?! I don't do gel on my toes, there is just no reason for that! I had to ask her to please remove all of the previous red color off my nails before beginning the new lighter pink color. When she started slapping on the base coat I knew I was in trouble - polish everywhere. Then she got out the acetone and brush in anticipation for the poor quality polish that was about to happen - yup, slapped the color on too. Cleaning up excess polish with acetone should not be the norm for a professional nail tech. It was still all over my cuticles when I left. There was no way I was sticking around for my nails to be done too.
