This is a first class salon all the way! I live in Los Angeles but was spending two weeks in Philly and wanted a new hairstyle for the new year. I went to Susan Matthew with the tough task of taking my pitch black hair to a bright red.... something that I thought would cost me a fortune and take a whole day to achieve. The stylists there helped me pick a perfect color to match my skintone and I was pleased to discover it only took a few hours to bleach out the black. I knew I was in good hands the whole time and I was so happy with my outcome. The salon's appearance is definitely one of the most beautiful settings I've been in; everything is brand new and decorated expertly (it was all done up for the holidays and was so pretty & festive). Clean, neat bathrooms and a super friendly staff that greets you. Very pleased with my experience and so sad that I don't live closer so that this could be my regular salon! read more

I followed Elena here from another spa for my monthly pedicures and she is the best by a mile. She is professional yet friendly and my toes always look great. A massage chair and a glass of wine top it all off. I get my hair cut here as well by Deb who does a fabulous job, recommends styles and products to keep my medium length bob up to ate & looking great. Garbage salon. Ruined my long, beautiful hair with an improperly executed razor cut. Also screwed up the color by adding a "toner" that turned my already blonde hair brown. Disaster on every level. Would not recommend. read more

BAD service today- and I go to this salon for every special occasion, dance, senior portraits and prom and to receive the service given to my daughters today was awful. Making an appointment to secure a service weeks in advance and to walk in and be told the stylist is behind 2 people and cant do the appt but we will try to get someone else to do you then to be told the stylist is 40 min behind is truly disappointing. The entire appointment was a rush, the salon only wanted to take their next appointment and leave by 3 it seemed. I left there with an unhappy daughter and the only thing I wanted was to make her day special. But thanks to Susan Matthews they did not care. read more

Susan, Please let's be clear...I NEVER considered any of your EMPLOYEES as FRIENDS. Those are YOUR words and INCORRECT. YOU don't treat your OWN EMPLOYEES with RESPECT. Let's not forget when you made a comment in front of Michelle and myself that "Dana will s**t her pants the night before when she has to do your hair and that's great." YOUR CLIENTS DON'T get the CUSTOMER SERVICE they DERSERVE at THIS salon. People pay ALOT of MONEY for these services. I don't know how many times your clients had to move somewhere else due to OVERBOOKING. When a client has an appointment with a stylist, they should REMAIN in that stylist's chair until they're done. It's actually a PLEASURE NOT having the DRAMA, UNPROFESSIONAL ATMOSPHERE, an HOUR of TRAVEL, GAS & TOLLS. Plus MY HAIR looks FABULOUS. As an OWNER, YOU need to put YOUR CLIENTS FIRST. Michelle listens to what I want and makes great suggestions when I ask. Everyone has been warm and welcoming. The Chinese restaurant in the building is excellent. Only 1 week after my haircut with Susan Matthew salon I'm going to another salon (and spending another $60) to see if they can fix what the stylist at Susan Matthew did. I had a great experience. Dana did a wonderful job with my hair (cut,color and highlights, and thinned it out) it turned out just how i wanted it to. Everyone was nice and professional from the lady at the front counter to the lady that washed my hair. It was more expensive than the other salon i went to but the results were 100 times better so it was worth every penny read more

Michelle is a wizard with color and style. She always does a great job and goes out of her way to accommodate you. The salon is very upscale and clean. The staff is friendly. They are a full service salon and have a small boutique of jewelry and handbags. Angie is also great. If you want a great cut and color this is the place to go. read more

I don't want to write a page on our experience so I will just say that I am chalking our experience up to it being the week after the holiday and that the experienced staff had time off. Horrible experience!! Will never go back to this place again. This was my second time there. First time was great with Angie, she was fantastic. Second time with Sonia, terrible and was treated like crap. I came in for a haircut, got there to a hairdresser that was up front ready to take me and I got bad vibes from then on. I don't know if she thought she knew me or what but she was completely rude to me. I tried to make conversation with her but she was not interested in being friendly at all. Then this is pretty much the worst thing, she leaves me there with wet hair that was mostly cut and proceeded to cut another customer's hair that just came in and left me sitting there for twenty minutes. I wanted to walk out but I stayed because I really wanted my hair done and finished. So it seemed like she was trying to be nice in the last part of my experience but it was totally fake because she knew she was wrong. I paid and yes I actually did tip her, I didn't want to but I know hairdressers depend on their tips. She didn't deserve a tip and this salon doesn't deserve my business again! I had called to complain but I doubt it went past the "front desk manager" that I spoke with. So Susan Matthews, I hope you read this one day! read more
