Great customer service. Nice ambiance, plenty of seating. There is a parking lot available. Coffee was well balanced. Wasn't acidic. Great ratio to Coffee and milk. Tasty chai latte, wasn't overly sweet. They roast their beans in-house.

I've been coming to Essence for a few years now. This little cafe and roastery is hands down, the best in Sequim. When I was looking for the 'best coffee in town' I found a Yelp review by a coffee aficionado from Seattle. He said that this was the place! And it truly is. My favorite is the Cortado! Their in house roasts are very fresh and exquisitely done. They have great lattes and mochas, and if you're a coffee aficionado like me, you'll love the pour overs. In the back area is a comfy section with a couch and chairs. The main area has tables and a coffee bar for the solo flyer. Food fare is mainly local pastries, scones and muffins. My go to is the chocolate croissant, which accompanies my daily Cortado. Warning, this combo is known to both enlighten and create a vortex of energy which is a great start to your day! There are many regulars, where 'everybody knows your name.' I do appreciate cafes that use only pesticide free beans, and I've inquired and found this to be true at Essence. Enjoy the best in Sequim!!

Great latte while visiting Sequim. They also offer pastries that go with your hot drink.

Great quality coffee, with a cool, clean, modern vibe. Very sweet, friendly service from Zach and Izzy. We ordered 5 coffees between the 5 of us, mostly iced lattes, and they were all very good. Loved my iced latte w/ maple (half sweet). They were super popular on a busy Saturday morning, so some waiting involved, but we didn't mind. We hung out for a bit. Worth a stop!

Not just the best coffee on the Peninsula, you just won't find a grind this good in the PNW. The owner is an award winning roaster, and it shows in every cup

We had 2 pour overs and a chocolate croissant on a rainy afternoon. This place is serious about coffee and made great pour overs! Fellow merchandise for sale as well. When we arrived there were 1-2 customers and all the sudden the whole store filled up! We were just visiting town but great to see that there were numerous locals saying hello to each other at the local coffee shop. Would definitely come again.

Delicious coffee, enjoyed in front of the fire. It was an excellent way to start a rainy day. Definitely recommend.

The cafe has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back feel of Sequim. Definitely a nice little local spot to grab breakfast or coffee if you're in the area. I'd happily stop by again next time we pass through the area and try more from the menu!

They roast their own coffee and serve delicious breakfast and lunch, with beer and wine available later in the day. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with about a dozen tables inside plus covered outdoor seating. The staff couldn't have been friendlier--I had the pleasure of meeting Tara and one of her coworkers, and they made us feel right at home. The coffee was outstanding, and they offer a great selection of freshly roasted beans, from light to dark roasts. The pastry case looked amazing, and they also feature daily specials. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and I'll definitely be coming back for it--it was excellent! My wife had the spinach frittata with cheese and bacon, and she loved it. We only wish we had a place like this closer to home in Seattle. There are plenty of great coffee shops there, but this café has a special hometown feel that makes you want to come back. If you're in the Sequim area, don't miss it!

In short Great roaster with the deepest imaginable local…read moreroots. In long There are tons of warehouses along Bickford these days, and if you turn down in and zigzag around a bit, you find a fantastic local coffee wholesaler with a retail outlet right here. They have a big lineup and unbelievable prices. Just the nicest people, too. I have been hearing good things about them for a while and meaning to stop in. I was finally able to combine this with some other errands yesterday. It's a small storefront with a few shelves and a big counter area. Not a coffee shop to sip a mug--a place to buy beans. There's a big sign on the wall explaining the exact roast level for each bag of beans they offer. You can order online and pick up, or you can walk in to buy. They have a bunch of blends that do really well. I avoid blends; I want the different flavors of single-origin stuff. I'm thinking now I should have realized that the rave reviews I see for this place are for the blends. I tried the Kenya, which the owner was proud to explain is their highest-rated offering. It's a good coffee, but not single-origin in the sense that they note how it was processed and where it was grown. They just give you the country. That's still an enormous step up from where coffee was when I was a kid, and it's an impressive effort for coffee that's a mere $11/lb. The big sign on the wall said this was a medium roast, and what's in the mug is very smoky and dark. Too much for my tastes, but I'm glad to have finally tried this place. I'm looking forward to trying the other beans and finishing all this up.

They have a very helpful staff and they have decades of experience. Their coffee is fantastic and the only coffee we buy. It's a big step up from anything at the grocery store or big box retailer. It's easy to get to off the north end of Bickford Road near Sound to Summit Brewery.
