Well, just when I thought WA state only had drive thru cafes. While those are great for on the go, Espresso Yourself creates an inviting and quaint space to have a work meeting, to do homework, or to just enjoy coffee before the rush of the day. It's refreshing. Now let's talk about the food!!!!! I had the Garden Turkey sandwich with chips. I think I did the food dance the entire time lol. It was my idea lunch filling while also being light and tasty. Great variety of sandwich and sides. If there was a complaint I would suggest music within the dining room something like lofi type music. read more

I have been looking for a good coffee shop to get my morning caramel macchiato fix on my way to work. This place really does the trick! I love that they're open before 8AM, and they have a drive-through as well as cafe to choose from. I've always had good service and good coffee. The baristas are friendly and will happily explain coffees that you don't understand, like a macchiato vs. latte. They also have a rewards punch card so be sure to ask for one if you plan on going back. Remember to tip! read more

What a great little coffee shop! Fircrest is lucky to have such an all purpose stop. They have a drive through, they have all manner of food, are locally owned and well run. Baked goods are a combination of in-house and outsourced. They have scones, bagels, muffins, cookies, and cinnamon rolls - thus covering all the major food groups. The items we've sampled thus far are good, but not drop dead. Our Fair Scone had too much jam on it for even our most diehard scone fan. Espresso offerings run the gamut one would expect in a reliable coffee house, with all the usual drinks, frappes, a couple of shakes. Again, solid. They have a nice variety of sandwiches: shrimp, turkey, blt, a fircrest club, egg salad, garden, veggie - twelve in all. $7 range. They remind me of a good homemade sandwich - again, not drop dead, but reliable. Nice that they make them to order, have half options and veggie choices. Gilding the lunch lily, they also offer salads, including Caesar and Shrimp Louie! $6 to $8. I haven't tried them. This place is deceptive from the outside. It looks sleepy, but the joint is hoppin' with regulars - mostly the denizens of Fircrest. That speaks very well for the place, methinks. It is small and homey in feel. In closing I just want to compliment the owner - he is fantastic. He's right up there at the counter. He really knows his regulars. He can tell if you're new and he wants you to be happy. For lunch I specifically wanted a sandwich place that had good coffee, and was located somewhere between downtown Tacoma and University Place. Headed to Yelp, and this place seemed to fit the bill. Cute interior with fun semi-pricey mugs for sale. Lots of sandwich options, with two different soups available on Friday. Service was friendly for you princesses that seem to care about that kind of thing. I got the Italian pannini, which was OK. I felt like the bread was chewier than it should have been. The rest of the ingredients were so-so. However, my significantly better half's BLT was terrific. Lots of delicious meat, nice bread, fresh produce. That sandwich was the clear winner. I also had the chicken tortilla soup, which was OK. Wasn't terrible, but tasted like it came out of a can. I have come to expect a lot from soups thanks to Infinite Soups. The coffee was only OK. Not on the level of the top-tier places like Valhalla, Blue Beard etc. We had one great sandiwch, and the rest was average to slightly above average. Would come back for the sandwiches, but I'd go to Infinite Soups for soup! read more

first visit today had a veggie sandwich with garden vegetable soup and the red blue rooster salad fair skin and a white chocolate mocha they were a couple mistakes we had to go back for the soup and they forgot to add the extra tomato and extra avocado to the salad and sandwich and we had to go back for one of the bowls of soup they missed. it was a very busy time of day and they were very frantic aside from that they still deserve five stars for me for the food and coffee was excellent the place was adorable a little difficult to find kind of said off to the side of a split in the street near almedia and regents street nicely located right at the stoplight though so it was easy to turn around. I will be going back but I do recommend you check your package before you leave to make sure everything is correct I could have gone on a bad day but it was super delicious and prices were fair. the help was very friendly and so were the customers in line. read more

I'm local and really want to support this place instead of going to one of the big chains. The service is very hit-or-miss lately. Sometimes I'm the only one in line and the baristas are very rushed and give me the wrong drink or food, and sometimes it's super busy but they still make time to be friendly. This is by far my favorite place in the University Place area for breakfast. last time I came and my drink was so horrible I couldn't drink it, but when I came in today and told her about it she made me a free drink and was really understanding about it. I didn't feel unwelcome and will content coming back. Overall I've been satisfied with the place. I wish they had some less sugary options for breakfast, but I think that's a trend for the tacoma area to have everything extra sweet. The Internet is generally stable and they don't mind if you sit in over an hour. I'd like to try their lunch food sometime and review that. Thanks guys for being so awesome! read more

Watch out MSM deli, this place has some of the best sandwiches in our area. They are definitely comparable. I had the Fircrest Club and the Turkey with bacon added. Both sandwiches fresh and with the best crunchy veggies. I stop by and pick up lunch there occasionally. You won't be disappointed if you enjoy a tasty sandwich. When my mom picked up the order the girl was unwelcoming and unkind. Plus she messed up the order, she gave me another sandwich instead of soup. And I ordered the soup specifically because I didn't want a sandwich I'm watching calories. Usually Lauren is there and she's great. I spotted this place while on a drive over a year ago and never remembered the name or where it was at. But on my way to the vet this morning I saw it and made sure to stop on my way home! I got an iced chai, and I'm a chai snob so to say that it was superb is a big deal! If you're familiar with chai, they use a powdered version I believe instead of a liquid that many other places use. I'd be lying if I said the coffee was always consistent, because it's not but It's good enough for me because I'm not THAT big of a coffee snob and it's good more times than it's not. I won't take away a star for that because the neighborhood cafe has so much charm. The girls there are so sweet I love every encounter with them. The shop itself is cute and quaint like most gems in Fircrest are and the sandwiches and salads are worth their price ! I work in the town center next to espresso so it's super convenient for me to stride on over for a quick cup or salad to get me through my shifts. Sitting here writing this review as I sit in the coffee shop. So this is my first time here I used to go to TWO when I was in the area but they have closed down. I ordered an americano and sat down to do work on my computer and 15 minutes later still no drink as I am watching people in line get their drink made right away. Mind you I have been up to get the wifi password since sitting down. So I go to the counter and the girl who took my order and who I have been in plain sight of the entire time asks if I would like anything else. I reply I haven't gotten my americano yet and she says okay.....no sorry. She then makes it, calls it out, forgets something I asked for (not a major deal if I'd gotten the drink without a long wait to begin with) and then says sorry. Like its an after thought. I wish places taught customer service better especially to young workers. I won't be back. read more
