I like the interior of the cafe as it reminds me a bit of Stylenanda in Korea (pink!). I can't speak on the drinks, only the pastries and cakes, and yeah, they're good! Probably shouldn't leave any pastries with fruit longer than a few hours since it'll get soggy though. We had a few birthdays to celebrate, and Confections was the go-to choice to for a lot of people this year. Not too sweet cream with fruit and fluffy cake, it was perfect for many in our group. The only cake I would not recommend that I've tried would be the Dubai chocolate cake. Not only is it more expensive, it's smaller than the other offered cakes. As a cake, it doesn't quite match up to Dubai chocolate strawberry cups that you can get elsewhere. The kunafa loses its crispiness being sandwiched between cake, and there isn't much pistachio flavor. I would've expected pistachio cream, but there really wasn't any on this cake. There are more strawberries on the strawberry cream cake, which fair, makes sense, but the Dubai cake wasn't as amazing as it sounded. Just tall. Good thing we had another cake from Confections that day since it was a joint birthday.

Shokku Bakery is a Japanese-inspired bakery located inside Jusgo Supermarket in Duluth, and it has…read moremore of a hidden, casual feel compared to standalone cafés. We walked into a small, straightforward space where what stood out immediately was the variety of pastries and baked goods lined up throughout the counter. The setup felt more like a grab-and-go spot, but there were enough interesting items that it made sense to slow down and actually look through what they offered. The main draw here is the bread selection. We spotted items like milk bread, pineapple buns, mochi-based pastries, and savory breads such as pork floss buns, all of which felt freshly made and rotated quickly depending on the day. The milk bread in particular stood out for its soft texture and rich flavor, while the sweeter items leaned more subtle rather than overly sugary. It was the kind of place where we ended up picking a few different things because it was hard to settle on just one. There were also a few refrigerated and specialty items like tarts and filled pastries, which added a bit more variety beyond the standard bakery selection. Some items felt more premium than others, and pricing varied depending on what we picked, but the overall focus was clearly on soft breads and Asian-style baked goods rather than desserts or café-style sweets. The atmosphere was simple and functional since it was inside a supermarket food court area. It was not really designed for sitting and lingering, but the space was clean and organized enough to quickly browse and make a selection. Service was straightforward, and in some cases we were able to sample items before buying, which helped when deciding between different breads. Overall, Shokku Bakery is a solid stop if you are already in the area and want fresh Japanese-style baked goods. It is not a destination bakery in terms of ambiance, but the quality of the breads and variety of options make it worth visiting for a quick pick-up, especially if you enjoy soft milk bread and classic Asian bakery items.
