Another Korean bakery and cafe in Duluth, but this one in particular is fairly busy over the weekends, though not so much that you can't find parking even with other businesses around sharing the lot. I like the interior of the cafe as it reminds me a bit of Stylenanda in Korea (pink!). I can't speak on the drinks, only the pastries and cakes, and yeah, they're good! Probably shouldn't leave any pastries with fruit longer than a few hours since it'll get soggy though. We had a few birthdays to celebrate, and Confections was the go-to choice to for a lot of people this year. Not too sweet cream with fruit and fluffy cake, it was perfect for many in our group. The only cake I would not recommend that I've tried would be the Dubai chocolate cake. Not only is it more expensive, it's smaller than the other offered cakes. As a cake, it doesn't quite match up to Dubai chocolate strawberry cups that you can get elsewhere. The kunafa loses its crispiness being sandwiched between cake, and there isn't much pistachio flavor. I would've expected pistachio cream, but there really wasn't any on this cake. There are more strawberries on the strawberry cream cake, which fair, makes sense, but the Dubai cake wasn't as amazing as it sounded. Just tall. This has to be one of the best bakery brand in the Duluth area right now... I've been to their Suwanee location several times, but this was my first time at the Duluth location... Looked very similar, but a bit smaller. The selection was equally strong though! I ordered several items to try (couldn't afford to eat all, but had bites of each!)...and they were all incredibly good. I also stopped by a second time during my trip to try this amazing blueberry-strawberry yogurt cake, as well as buy some varieties for my husband. If you know me, you know I've got a serious sweet tooth. So when my fiancée sent me a reel of Confections Bakery, I didn't hesitate--I said, "Let's go. Now." Pro tip: if you've seen all the viral buzz about their 80-layer tissue bread, melon bread, Japanese salt bread, or flat pistachio croissant, do yourself a favor and get there early. We went at 9 PM on a Friday and they were already out of those--but no worries, because there was still plenty to choose from. Our #1 favorite: the Sweet Corn Bread. Chewy, buttery, and filled with corn and onions--completely unexpected but SO good. Pro tip: they have a little warmer where you can reheat your pastries for extra enjoyment. 10/10 would buy again. Next up: Cream Puffs. Simple? Yes. Delicious? Absolutely. At only $1.50 each, I honestly don't know how people don't just buy a dozen. Other highlights: Blueberry Cupcake - Only one left and it was calling my name. Light, fruity, and divine. Cloud Donut - Soft, airy, filled with creamy goodness. Different in texture and flavor, maybe even better chilled (we took ours home to test that theory). Sweet Potato Hwangnam Bread - Sadly, this one was a miss for us. Macarons - We tried passion fruit, peach, raspberry, and salted caramel. The peach and mango flavors were especially amazing. Each macaron had a surprise filling in the center, which made them even more special. The raspberry (actually cocoa raspberry) was a bit too sweet for our taste. Oh--and I didn't get to try the salted caramel because my fiancée devoured it without offering me a bite. So... it must've been good. We almost got the Oreo and strawberry macarons too, but hey, you've got to leave yourself a reason to come back, right? (Just kidding--we're coming back regardless!) This is such a delightful place! They not only have all of the amazing pastries and cakes and breads that look almost too good to eat (they are delicious by the way), but they also have a breakfast/lunch menu that peaked my interest so I took the fam here to eat. Oh, they also have boba, coffee, juice too. I can't forget those. II am reviewing the 2 items that I had which make me want to go back again and again. Mushroom soup. Right?!? Doesn't sound special BUT it is!!! This soup is creamy and so delicious. It isn't too creamy so maybe more like smooth. It is so flavorful. I wish I could tell you more but I can't. You have to try it. The pasta salad. This is not your run of the mill pasta salad that you think of. This is like a Cobb salad with noodles on top with this amazing Asian inspired dressing. It has lettuce greens, corn, bacon, egg, olives, tomato, avocado, goat cheese, I'm sure I am missing something. It is also large so could easily be shared. I could talk about this salad all day long it is that good! Who is the genius who said let's add spaghetti noodles to the center of a salad. You deserve an award!! There is plenty of seating inside and they have fun music playing that is not overly loud. The staff seems to love working there because they are all so friendly and you can just see they having fun. It definitely helps that there is so much seating inside, so you're probably guaranteed an easy time to find a seat. There are so many good menu options. Parking can be a difficult because it's a pretty busy plaza in general even with a bunch of spaces but it's probably much better on weekdays during more "off hours". The space is bigger than I thought it would be, gives off a European feel with the type of tables and chairs they have set up. I've only been on weekends and it's always been super busy with people. I think most Korean/asian type bakeries have increased prices for their goods now. Also, not sure when the best time to go is because it's a hit or miss for what they have out and available. I'm assuming first thing in the morning is best? I've been in during earlier afternoons and have been disappointed that not everything was there. What really drew me here was that they have salt bread! Had it in Korea and fell in love. Such a simple thing, but there's something about it that makes me want to keep eating it. Confections has been on the list to try out. Confections is basically another Asian styled bakery. I feel like there's a bar that is set when it comes to Asian styled. They also have a cake display. Their cakes are really good. I tired the mango cake, which was delicious. The frosting is more like a cream with a nice bouncy texture and is not too sweet. The mangos were a little on the sweet side. Not sure if they were canned or if they just marinate their mangos in a syrup. Either way, the mangos were good. All of the drinks we have tried from there place have all been really good. There is plenty of seating with half of the restaurant with a different type of seating and tables to the other side. Service has always been friendly. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good bakery. This is my second time here! The first time, I stumbled across Confections was accidental. I see a new cafe opening so of course I had to check it out after I dine at Super Pho. Upon entering, the facility is do bright that my eyes recoiled at the shining beams from the chandeliers above. Facility is aesthetically pleasing to see, there is plenty of seats and overall, the place is decently clean when there is not a rush. The food/desserts are great. There are various amount of pastries to choose from, and each and every single one of their item looks delicious. There is also a lot of foot traffic at the place, since it is new after all, so studying here might be a little difficult if you are easily distracted. Overall, I believe Confections is a great addition to the cafe scene in Duluth, however one concern I immediately notice is the health standard of the items; especially the bread that are left (open air) sitting on the massive table of goodies. read more

Sooo happy and impressed by this new location of Confections! They have so many unique savory and sweet pastry options that I haven't seen anywhere else, or not all in one place - garlic baguette, egg salad sandwich, mushroom flatbread, scones, etc. Everything looked pretty filling. I prefer savory over sweet so the amount of savory options is a big plus for me. I only had the caprese croissant this time around and it was so yummy, flaky, and pesto-y! Also, their cakes are literally the best korean bakery cakes I've ever had in Georgia (also the most expensive but its worth it here, and I can't say the same for other bakeries) - and I've tried a lot of the others - White Windmill, Tous Les Jours, Sweet Hut, Paris Baguette. Their matcha mousse cake has fluffy layers of both matcha and strawberry whipped cream, the cake is light and fluffy, and there is a layer of dense matcha cream as well so this one is perfect for matcha lovers. I also had the fruit cream cake which was delicious as well. The interior is a big open space with a sort of elegant, chic vibe, plenty of seating with cute european style chairs and lots of table space. All the cakes are beautiful. I bought a 6" strawberry fresh cream cake. It was around $40 (including tax). It came with a "Happy Birthday" sign and candles. They don't do lettering on the cake. The cake was in a cute box and was heavier than other cakes I had bought in the past. A lot of cream and strawberries inside the cake. The cake itself was light and airy. Sweeter than the cakes from Sweet Hut and White Windmill. It was for 6 people and we still had some leftovers. Overall, friendly customer service and delicious cakes 10/10. Will be back... I like that there are an assortment of sweet and savory pastries that are fairly unique compared to the Korean bakeries around the area. I saw another yelper's photo of their latte and wanted to try it, turns out it's a "brown sugar marble latte" ($5.80) It was one of the best quality cold coffees I've ever had I loved it!! It was just sweet enough, strong enough, not watered down at all. The ambiance is beautiful but extremely crowded on Sunday afternoon so I'm not sure when a less busier day is but I'd love to find out. I left one star off because I am afraid to run into a hair in my pastry as I've seen a couple of photos already. I do think and suggest the business have the baking staff wear hairnets and gloves. I got the almond and cheese tart which was very crispy and sweet, and the strawberry and cream croissant. To drink, I got the americano and mojito ade. The total was around $30, which is expensive for a cafe, but worth the experience. The only downside besides the expensiveness is the noise. Saw that the grand opening sign was up and decided to check the place out. It's well lit on the inside with plenty of seating. Since it is the holidays they had a nice Christmas tree and other decorations. I decided to check out the dessert display. They have many premium cake selections like tiramisu, green tea cheese mousse, and others. There are also some in the display case that weren't on the menu. If something looks interesting point and ask. I decided to go with one of the options that wasn't on the menu. A triple mousse chocolate cake from the look of it. Checking out was fast and easy. Their quality has decreased. One of my favorite breads, the pistachio cream, no longer uses real pistachio, and they don't fill it properly anymore. The mango smoothie doesn't have enough mango, and the matcha strawberry drink is mostly ice, you get just a few sips before you're left with a cup full of ice. Plenty of free parking, I've gone to quite a few bakeries in Duluth and this one has been consistently good. Pastries are a good size for the price, fresh, one of the best almond croissants in this area. The specialty lattes and regular latte have been really good.
