Getting a little bored of the typical hum-drum runs? Need a bit of variety and don't mind getting…read more"down and dirty" while you strive to reach that finish line? Then check your inhibitions at the door, grab your bike, some old running shoes and a good friend because you're about to experience the most challenging course you've ever faced...well, the most challenging course with a mud pit, that is. This is a bike/run race consisting of two man teams with one man on bike, the other on foot, starting out simultaneously. Spaced out randomly along the course are transition points where each participant will find an obstacle they'll need to overcome before they proceed to switch places with his/her team mate in running or biking. Monkey bars, net climb, balance beams, etc., all provide a welcome moment or two or rest before resuming your trek along the miles left ahead...each one, seemingly getting longer and longer as you go. Then, finally at the last check point, both team members must dive head first into a mud pit and crawl on their bellies to the end, crossing the finish line together. When the day is done, you'll have mud, sand and grime in places you probably shouldn't have mud, sand and grime...but with all the fun you'll have along the way, you'll be no worse for the wear. I promise. I've run this Chicago race many times and have even made a pilgrimage out to Colorado for their version, too. Next stop, San Jose!

I did the Muddy Buddy with my friend Scott this past August. I had just heard about it on the…read moreinternet, thought that it sounded completely awesome, and was able to talk Scott into into it. :-) About the race: It's about 10K divided up into 5 legs of running/biking. You'll need to decide on who is stronger in each area, because you end up doing 2 legs of one, and 3 of the other. The course at Indian Hills is beautiful, and it has some massive hills--something that you don't often get to see in Illinois! The obstacle courses are super easy, and break up the running and biking. I think my favorite was a giant blow-up slide that you get to climb up and slide down! It's funny, because before the race I was soo nervous about the obstacle courses and not having the upper arm strength to complete them. I think the thing that surprised me the most about the race was the difficulty of the biking legs. It's soo freaking muddy in some spots that you literally can't pedal. Big lesson learned for next year will be to just get off the bike and run with it for these portions. The giant mud pit is of course the star of the show. I personally was excited to slosh through it. After the race, there are some lake areas you can jump into. Oh yeah, and two free beers for your trouble. Yeah!

just start off I'd like to say I welcome that they have one of these places in the neighborhood. My…read moredaughter was invited to a birthday party that was hosted at urban air. Although we live fairly close, this was our first time experiencing urban air. It's a pretty well run establishment that has a good variety of options for entertainment for younger kids. If you're hosting a birthday party or any type of party, they have section of locations where you could either rent an adequate amount of table space for your guest or they have separate confined rooms where you could host your party. For the most part, the attraction at urban air are the trampolines. There's a section where you could just bounce on the trampolines in a grid pattern, where each section of the grid allows one person to jump. There is a caveat, though if you are going to be jumping on the trampolines, you have to purchased a pair of the trampoline socks from urban air. It's not that bad under five dollars after tax and you get to take them home they also have this other section that has trampolines and you play dodgeball. Another section has basketball with trampolines and then the last trampoline section is a jousting area and another area where you jump over a rotating bar. They also have in the center of urban air, a large bull pit which goes through several different obstacles. The other two sections are laser tag as well as a go kart area. It seems like you could bring in your own cakes and desserts if you rent out a party area and the catering pizza as well. I'm glad that they have urban air in the area and it is a well received substitute for what used to be there, which was Burlington Coat Factory. In terms of parking, they have adequate amount as urban air is shared in the same strip mall as a billiards and several other small businesses.

I wanted to purchase a membership, but the staff member at the front desk was unable or unwilling to help apply our discount code and free card. Instead, she simply told us to do it online, even though we were standing right there at the front desk asking for assistance. If it weren't for how much my kids wanted to play there, I probably wouldn't return. The facility itself is nice, but the lack of helpful customer service made for a frustrating experience.
