My friends and I came here for "the shed" escape room and had so much fun. The room had our hearts pounding because we were locked in a shed of a murderer! Our game master, Jenna, did a really great job of redirecting us with clues if we were super far off and we escaped within one hour. The room was so well put together and each of the clues built off of each other. You'll have to be prepared to navigate through smaller spaces though. Definitely recommend coming here with your friends for celebrations and events. It ends up being about $35 per person and the room can have about 10 people. There's plenty of parking in the area. Thank you for a great time! I'll be back to try your other escape rooms.

Never in a million years did I think I'd enjoy going to escape rooms but here I am, enjoying them to the fullest lol. I was here for a double date and we did the bank heist escape room. The puzzles/riddles were a lot of fun and definitely get your brain activated to think. I really enjoyed this one even though we did not successfully make it out =( This is a fun spot for group outings, this is the 2nd time I've been here and I'm looking forward to coming back to successfully escaping the other rooms!

BEST PLACE EVER!!!! My youth group and I went to the new room called, "The Shed" and it was so fun! Definitely felt the adrenaline for the whole hour and totally did not expect it to be this much fun! The room was filled with scares and many laughs! Shoutout to Josh for being a great worker and a funny person! Will definitely go again

Ugh we suck lol. To be fair, only 1 in 5 groups successfully escape the "Outbreak"/ Laboratory room. Still fun though!

CODEBREAKER You'll need agile fingers and a quick wit to conquer this Schaumburg escape room. Per a suggestion from Jason K, we booked a fun double date at Mastermind on the afternoon of 2/24/19. It was my second time doing a time-sensitive room, so I was eager to see what sort of puzzles they'd have up their sleeve. Finding this place was tricky. It's buried in an industrial part of town, far from the popular restaurants and shops of Woodfield. You'll definitely need G-Maps to find it, as signage isn't very prominent and the entrance -- a side door -- is tucked away from the street. We arrived a bit late (someone told me it's fashionable) but entered the "Find the Cure"/laboratory room shortly after the 60:00 countdown timer started. Our fearsome foursome joined another quartet, and we got down to business. With 8 people frantically opening drawers and punching in keycode combinations, things got a bit hectic but the stress levels never reached a boiling point. The rando's we got matched up with were nice people (and pretty helpful too), so that didn't bother us at all. Photos aren't allowed in the rooms themselves, but I can say that "Outbreak" is a hodgepodge of science and does more to test your patience of spinning tumblers, than it does knowledge of chemistry or biology. Having a high school diploma does help, however. There's periodic tables, glass beakers, chemical formulas written on the wall (that may or may not be a red herring) and various other pieces of lab equipment strewn around the room. A large TV monitor displays the time remaining and any hints the game master provides. Though I liked the usage of different types of locks (including a really cool directional push lock I've NEVER seen before), there were far too many possible 4-digit combinations and 6-digit keypads. Which one to use? "F*ck if I know, try 'em all." The clues fed to us were mostly puns with a tiny hint, but as the countdown clock crept closer to 00:00, the hints became less clever and more to-the-point. Right around the 2-minute warning, they literally typed out "USE THIS CODE: ____", which was hilarious. I really appreciated that they added more time to the clock in an effort to let us solve more riddles, instead of just letting it run out and leave everyone (more) disappointed. At the end, the gamemaster explained where we went wrong and how to unlock the missing pieces. In terms of an immersive escape room experience, Mastermind is a step below Fox in the Box but it also costs a bit less at $28 per person (compared to FitB's $35pp). This place currently has 4 unique rooms, and I'd definitely want to return to try again! * TL;DR * When all's said and done, I thought the sheer number of locks was excessive and the story too non-linear. Even for a total math nerd like myself, getting to the end goal was a wee bit frustrating. I don't feel too bad, since only 20% of folks successfully escape the Laboratory room (1 in 5). I'd recommend Mastermind, especially for group dates, birthday parties, or work outings. It's a lot of fun and they really put your critical thinking skills to the test. Be sure to warm up those fast fingers beforehand..... you'll need to be on top of your game!

So much fun! Peter played the part for my daughters 10th birthday! He helped guide us through the rooms, and we made it out in literally the last second! We will be back for another round in a different room ! We got the Groupon and it was very easy to go through process ! 10/10 we will be back !!

Locked in a room with some strangers for 60 mins, yeah anything can happen! It was a trip and lots of fun. Loads to solve, unlock, puzzles, riddles, buttons, secret doors, switches, and more. We tried the lost in time room. In the beginning it was like every man for themselves running moving all over the room, until we got into the second room which was the future, where we started to be more cohesive and work as a team together. At the end, with 2 minutes to spare TADA we figured it out and solved the puzzle. We were no long lost in time! Fun times for all, good bonding event for everyone. Tip for beginners, checkout the level of difficultly before selecting a room. We were lucky being our first time, we had someone in the group with experience as the leader.

It's located across from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, in the 999 plaza next door. There's plenty of parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk up to the entrance you'll see a sign for Odyssey. We came 15 minutes before our reservation time. During this time they just want to review the safety guidelines with you before they taken you into the room for your game. We did the "Towering Inferno" and unfortunately did not make it out alive. The rooms are clean and the staff are all friendly. I don't have other places to compare to but in my opinion I can say this place is low key in technology. When we first entered the room, a staff member gives you the plot by reciting the story. I guess I wanted a more dramatic storyteller but it felt like a low key lecture I guess? 2 people can definitely solve it but it would've been better if we had at least 3 or 4 people. For this challenge, I would say about half of it is solved on computers. The other half are lock combinations. At the end we were told the last bits of info of how we could have finished and escaped. They will take a picture for you inside the room at the end and also offer a group picture with signs in front of their Odyssey sign in the main lobby. I felt like this was a pretty good experience. Again, the space is clean and I am interested in coming back to try their other escape rooms. Don't try to walk-in, make sure to make a reservation on their site! Google for a discount code before you reserve a room. I also saw people mention something on Groupon for deals.

Out of maybe the 5 or 6 different places I've been to for an escape the room (some out of state, some around the area), this was my favorite one. With only 3 reviews seen on Yelp, I was a little hesitant to choose this place over so many others in the area. Groupon gave us a good price, so we went with this, and I'm glad we did. We did the "my crazy ex" room, which was great, and I hope to be back for the high school reunion, which the owner said had some scary features added to it. He said he used to work with haunted houses too, so I'm pretty interested in seeing what that one is like. It is similar to other escape the rooms where you find clues and input it in the locks to unlock the various locks in the room, but this was was so techy that they used other creative tactics to unlock boxes, drawers, etc. To be honest, I at first thought it was a little lame because I thought the person watching us just opened things with a press of a button when we did different actions, but I asked later on, and he showed us how different things worked. Hard to describe without giving spoilers of the room, but I'd have to say I was seriously mind blown about how creative things were and how fancy the technology was here. I loved this factor added into it. They have a 10 minute game that's only $5 a person on certain hours of weekdays, so we will most likely be back for this too! I definitely was hesitant at first to come here due to a few things (barely any Yelp reviews, homemade looking winner/loser signs/a few things that made it not look as professional or techy (the Hotmail email address :D....sorry, break escape for throwing you under here), but after experiencing their room, I'd really have to say there is a mastermind here who made these and put these rooms together. Not sure how this place only got 3 reviews, but I'd highly recommend coming here and I'll be back for sure! Thanks break escape!
