60 to Escape is located inside Woodfield Mall. It's on the second floor near the food court. If you park by Texas De Brazil/Comedy Improv parking lot, it's a super easy walk to get to. Follow signs on the walls as well. From the moment you walk inside, you are greeted to a very professional and friendly experience. The staff are amicable and polite. I do recommend making a reservation prior to attending online, but you can also make a reservation on site as well, but no guarantees that you'll get in. They are very busy which is great. As of writing this review, I believe they have 6 escape rooms. My partner and I decided to do the Cheesie's escape room. The room is inspired by Chuckie Cheeses and Five Nights at Freddy's. The story of the room is that you are celebrating your birthday by going to the arcade and restaurant. Only caveat? The restaurant has been closed and abandoned for years and now, just a single animatronic remains, Cheesie the mouse himself! Some disclaimers about the escape room: The animatronic talks, lights up, and moves, but it's not an actor. It's a static animatronic that stays in the same spot the entire room. So for those of you that are scaredy cats like me, just know that the animatronic will not chase you or corner you, or do anything to make you feel that you need to run away. Next, the room has multiple sections, which open up to you as you continue. Finally, when you make the reservation online, you will be given an option for unlimited hints. It's $15 as of writing this and trust me, it's worth it. We used 5+ hints throughout our experience and all you have to do is push a blue button to get hints from the game master anytime you want, typed to you on a giant tv screen. As for the experience itself. It was amazing! My partner and I felt like we were in a movie. The section based approach is also great because it tells a story. The puzzles themselves range from number locks, memorization, item based puzzles, information based, and more. Each item that you find is useful to some capacity which is great because in other escape rooms, the items are ambiguous on what's important or not. Without spoiling too much, the escape room itself does a great job at cinematic cutscenes. The acting of the characters is wonderful. Cheesie acts sort of as an anti-hero and he does have some great monologues throughout the experience. My partner and I finished the escape room with 2 minutes and 37 seconds left to spare, and we were told that was actually very impressive. Here are some quick tips: Some puzzle solutions are actually more simple than you think. If you pay for unlimited hints, use them a lot. The staff are more than happy to give you as many hints as you want. The 60 minutes flies by. At one point you're at 50 minutes and the next, you're at 10 minutes and you're scrambling to figure it out. So make sure to keep an eye on the clock and please use the hints. Finally I would like to call out our game master: Alyshah. She was WONDERFUL and AMAZING. She walked backwards while talking to us and it reminded us of the butler from the legend of Zelda majora's mask. She was super energetic and fun. She made the experience even more fun for us. Alyshah, you should be very proud of yourself! You did incredible in helping us and it was a blast! We also loved that you gave us an opportunity to ask you questions after the room was over. Thank you so much! I also want to give a shoutout to the cashier Avi, who was extremely friendly and helpful as well. Thanks Avi for the positivity and kind words. Overall we LOVED this escape room. Thank you for making my date night with my partner a blast. Can't wait to come back again!

Extremely disrespectful front desk employee. Made the experience terrible. Should learn some manners.

It's located across from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, in the 999 plaza next door. There's plenty of parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk up to the entrance you'll see a sign for Odyssey. We came 15 minutes before our reservation time. During this time they just want to review the safety guidelines with you before they taken you into the room for your game. We did the "Towering Inferno" and unfortunately did not make it out alive. The rooms are clean and the staff are all friendly. I don't have other places to compare to but in my opinion I can say this place is low key in technology. When we first entered the room, a staff member gives you the plot by reciting the story. I guess I wanted a more dramatic storyteller but it felt like a low key lecture I guess? 2 people can definitely solve it but it would've been better if we had at least 3 or 4 people. For this challenge, I would say about half of it is solved on computers. The other half are lock combinations. At the end we were told the last bits of info of how we could have finished and escaped. They will take a picture for you inside the room at the end and also offer a group picture with signs in front of their Odyssey sign in the main lobby. I felt like this was a pretty good experience. Again, the space is clean and I am interested in coming back to try their other escape rooms. Don't try to walk-in, make sure to make a reservation on their site! Google for a discount code before you reserve a room. I also saw people mention something on Groupon for deals.

Overall we had plenty of fun with the puzzles but the reason I gave it 4 stars was because our room had a window wall and a creepy man walked up and started staring at us, he went away in about 2 minutes but it was definitely scary. This was a great experience though and I would recommend coming for a difficult but fun room.

Out of maybe the 5 or 6 different places I've been to for an escape the room (some out of state, some around the area), this was my favorite one. With only 3 reviews seen on Yelp, I was a little hesitant to choose this place over so many others in the area. Groupon gave us a good price, so we went with this, and I'm glad we did. We did the "my crazy ex" room, which was great, and I hope to be back for the high school reunion, which the owner said had some scary features added to it. He said he used to work with haunted houses too, so I'm pretty interested in seeing what that one is like. It is similar to other escape the rooms where you find clues and input it in the locks to unlock the various locks in the room, but this was was so techy that they used other creative tactics to unlock boxes, drawers, etc. To be honest, I at first thought it was a little lame because I thought the person watching us just opened things with a press of a button when we did different actions, but I asked later on, and he showed us how different things worked. Hard to describe without giving spoilers of the room, but I'd have to say I was seriously mind blown about how creative things were and how fancy the technology was here. I loved this factor added into it. They have a 10 minute game that's only $5 a person on certain hours of weekdays, so we will most likely be back for this too! I definitely was hesitant at first to come here due to a few things (barely any Yelp reviews, homemade looking winner/loser signs/a few things that made it not look as professional or techy (the Hotmail email address :D....sorry, break escape for throwing you under here), but after experiencing their room, I'd really have to say there is a mastermind here who made these and put these rooms together. Not sure how this place only got 3 reviews, but I'd highly recommend coming here and I'll be back for sure! Thanks break escape!
