Second time here! First was for the mystery mini golf, second for an escape room. The mystery mini golf was brand new at the time I went. The concept was unique. In addition to playing mini golf, you're trying to solve various riddles at each hole to solve a mystery. I was hoping the prize for solving would be more interesting than a sticker, but it was still a pretty good time. I'd probably stick to Puttshack next time I wanna play mini golf, though. For the escape room, my boyfriend and I did Mystery Manor. With the additional price of unlimited hints (I think this helped), our price for two was around $100. I thought it was pretty expensive, but after the experience, I do think it was pretty worth it. There were many nuances to the escape room, which included various rooms and additional spaces you unlock by solving each part. At the end, they offer to take a picture for you and give you a little envelope to open (if you get out). Overall, positive experience! I'd return for the escape room. read more

We've done all six of the escape rooms at this location, and a few of them at their Gurnee location also. We've also done bunches of escape rooms from other companies while on vacation or in other towns. The overall quality and craftsmanship of 60 to Escape is second to none. Every room is quite immersive, and you don't get the feeling that they just slapped together a bunch of decorations on a standard room and called it an escape room (like some other companies do). For this location, Lockbuster Video and Mystery Manor are the best rooms (in my opinion). Loads of fun, great surprises. Challenging yet doable puzzles. Wide variety of puzzle types. Kids loved it. Parents loved it. I really should include Magic Heist in the top tier also, but, Lockbuster and Mystery are just so wonderful that I feel that they deserve a class of their own. But, yes, Magic is right up there with them. It's almost a 3-way tie for first place. Cheesie's Pizza Party is really enjoyable also. It deserves 5 stars too. But, I was so blown away by Lockbuster and Mystery that I just feel obligated not to put Cheesie in the same category, despite that Cheesie is quite wonderful. Jurassic Outpost and Arctic Expedition are better than a lot of the competition I've seen, but, I just can't put them in the same category as the ones above. I don't feel like downgrading my rating of this place to only 4 stars because of these two rooms. That would be maybe too aggressive on my part, because these two rooms have all of the polish and workmanship that the others do, and are way better than lots of other places I've been. But, the puzzles in these two rooms are a bit on the monotonous side. Too many of the same theme of solving numeric things or codes over and over and over. They're not in the same league as Lockbuster or Mystery with the variety of puzzle types and adventure. If this place only had these two rooms, yeah, I'd downgrade the rating to 4 stars. But, I can't bring myself to lessen my rating of the really great rooms because two of them aren't quite as great. When I first saw this place in Woodfield, I figured it would go out of business in two months. Then, we tried it. No regrets. I hope this place is around for decades, and continues to upgrade the experiences. read more

60 to Escape is located inside Woodfield Mall. It's on the second floor near the food court. If you park by Texas De Brazil/Comedy Improv parking lot, it's a super easy walk to get to. Follow signs on the walls as well. From the moment you walk inside, you are greeted to a very professional and friendly experience. The staff are amicable and polite. I do recommend making a reservation prior to attending online, but you can also make a reservation on site as well, but no guarantees that you'll get in. They are very busy which is great. As of writing this review, I believe they have 6 escape rooms. My partner and I decided to do the Cheesie's escape room. The room is inspired by Chuckie Cheeses and Five Nights at Freddy's. The story of the room is that you are celebrating your birthday by going to the arcade and restaurant. Only caveat? The restaurant has been closed and abandoned for years and now, just a single animatronic remains, Cheesie the mouse himself! Some disclaimers about the escape room: The animatronic talks, lights up, and moves, but it's not an actor. It's a static animatronic that stays in the same spot the entire room. So for those of you that are scaredy cats like me, just know that the animatronic will not chase you or corner you, or do anything to make you feel that you need to run away. Next, the room has multiple sections, which open up to you as you continue. Finally, when you make the reservation online, you will be given an option for unlimited hints. It's $15 as of writing this and trust me, it's worth it. We used 5+ hints throughout our experience and all you have to do is push a blue button to get hints from the game master anytime you want, typed to you on a giant tv screen. As for the experience itself. It was amazing! My partner and I felt like we were in a movie. The section based approach is also great because it tells a story. The puzzles themselves range from number locks, memorization, item based puzzles, information based, and more. Each item that you find is useful to some capacity which is great because in other escape rooms, the items are ambiguous on what's important or not. Without spoiling too much, the escape room itself does a great job at cinematic cutscenes. The acting of the characters is wonderful. Cheesie acts sort of as an anti-hero and he does have some great monologues throughout the experience. My partner and I finished the escape room with 2 minutes and 37 seconds left to spare, and we were told that was actually very impressive. Here are some quick tips: Some puzzle solutions are actually more simple than you think. If you pay for unlimited hints, use them a lot. The staff are more than happy to give you as many hints as you want. The 60 minutes flies by. At one point you're at 50 minutes and the next, you're at 10 minutes and you're scrambling to figure it out. So make sure to keep an eye on the clock and please use the hints. Finally I would like to call out our game master: Alyshah. She was WONDERFUL and AMAZING. She walked backwards while talking to us and it reminded us of the butler from the legend of Zelda majora's mask. She was super energetic and fun. She made the experience even more fun for us. Alyshah, you should be very proud of yourself! You did incredible in helping us and it was a blast! We also loved that you gave us an opportunity to ask you questions after the room was over. My friends and I have completed many escape rooms around the Chicagoland area, and 60 to Escape is definitely in the top 3! I have been to the Gurnee and Schaumburg locations, and there is only one overlapping room. The quality of the rooms is high, and the "game masters" are responsive and helpful. Each room has several compartments, and the themes are interesting and engaging. Pricing is on the higher side, but pretty competitive for the area and the level of execution. I recommend these escape rooms for anyone looking for a fun activity with friends or coworkers! read more

Having done multiple escape rooms at the Gurnee location, we were very happy to learn of the new location much closer to home. The magic escape room is very creative, the funny thing is it was the easy solves that stumped us and the hard solves that were our main focus. We have probably done over 50 escape rooms as a family and we have an almost perfect escape rate. We did the dinosaur room today and it was honestly a horrible room. The puzzles almost all had one unnecessary step too many. Like in a normal escape room we would have solved them, but then you had to scramble the answer in an illogical way at the end. Completely unnecessary and just made them less fun. When we did solve a clue it was difficult to tell what the result was because when doors or crates opened there was no sound and they only opened a crack so it wasn't noticeable. Often the guide had to tell us what had happened. The room was dark and signs were small font so hard to read but they insisted we couldn't use our phones as flashlights. The last puzzle was so complicated. When we didn't solve it in time and asked the guide to explain it, it was clear even she didn't understand it. That's stupid. The room was well decorated (wow factor) but almost all of the props were glued down. There were very few physical clues, which just felt less fun as well. Wouldn't recommend. read more

We all agreed this was the BEST escape room we've ever done. We've done about 10 before, almost all at different locations. Our group of 4 (2 middle aged, 2 in 20s) did Magic Heist at the Schaumburg location. The game was challenging but logical, using a nice variety of clues which relied on sight, sound, movement, and of course observation. We never felt like something was too easy or had an unreasonable solution (both of which had disappointed us at other places). The game space was bigger than most, with quality props which made it very immersive. Everything was in great shape. Our guide, Alicia, was also awesome, making the entire experience so fun. She was more than happy to answer all our questions, even ones outside of the scope of the game, and played along with our silly antics. We managed to escape with just 1:57 remaining, using 2 clues and 2 "nudges" (Alicia's term). We went to 60 to Escape in Gurnee a couple months earlier and it was also great, just a little smaller. We're already planning our next trip (Woodfield site, because it's closer and seems bigger). Not only for the quality, but also because we didn't feel rushed through the intro/exit (I've felt like I'm being rifled through and am inconveniencing the host at some other places). Price was slightly higher than others we've been to, but is 100% worth it. The owners clearly care about providing a quality experience. read more

The mall was ridiculously packed, so we were actually several minutes late to our reservation, even though we planned for extra time, but the staff called us with a checkin and were gracious about the small delay. Robert, our game guide, had us watch the orientation video and then introduced us to our game's room (Mystery Manor). The setting was fairly accessible, though there were some narrower doorways and spaces, and a couple occasions for bending/stooping. Our party had 4 adults, two of whom were seniors, and we managed decently. The puzzles were moderately to fairly challenging, but the hints system (start with 1, earn another hint every 10 minutes) worked well and hints were helpful without giving it all away immediately, when we needed them to progress. The setting, atmosphere, and general plot were all engaging and entertaining. Mechamisms and locks worked pretty smoothly. We had a great time and plan to come back (though probably not on a holiday weekend - the parking lot was nightmarish and navigating to the storefront wasn't a total breeze, either). read more
