Before visiting a friend of mine in the Chicago area, he asked me if I had ever heard about room escapes. I've been seeing them pop up on TV shows but had not looked into one near me. He bought us the tickets and said he had it all planned out for when I came for a visit. I've since been to a few other room escapes but there's nothing like a first experience. If you ever liked having game night with friends or want to get out from behind a screen for a bit MRE is a great way to escape. What I thought was really unique about this was the escape was in a trailer. The employee was telling one of the people in our group that they can travel to people for parties and business events and in the winter time I can see why someone wouldn't want to travel to one of these. The escape was a mad lab style escape which is about as much as I can say without giving anything away. I will say that this one had a theatrical element to it which I find more fun then one of the other ones I went to which just had you solve puzzles and unlock stuff. My friend and a couple of the other members in our group were the brains of the operation while I spent more time finding the clues and doing the searching. The lab escape we did didn't have a horror theme (like a saw movie) which adds another element to these things. The employee mentioned they are working on one that will be for adults. This first one they have is all ages. All in all I gave MRE an A++ because they not only had a great escape room but I haven't seen anything else like it. I had never even heard of an escape room before my wife got me tickets to Mobile Room Escape for my birthday. In fact, I didn't even know anything about escaping at all except for the fact that I have seen 'Escape from LA' with Kurt Russell. I liked that movie, but I'm pretty sure it was bad. Anyway, I was not really enthused about going to the room escape, and I was pretty sure my wife ruined another birthday. (She is close to getting dumped... shhh!) BUT she totally redeemed herself! This was a great time. We were with a birthday group and the only people out of the group that didn't know everyone else and we still had fun. The characters were hilarious. Lab Assistant 2 kept talking about how only some guy named Rich thought he was funny, but I thought he was pretty funny too. Not the funniest person ever, but definitely made it entertaining. We were in there for almost the whole hour (escaped with 3 minutes to go and saved the world otherwise there would be no one to read this on Yelp... YOU'RE WELCOME, WORLD.) and we had fun pretty much the entire time. I didn't solve many clues and it was still fun. So, all things considered what I thought was going to be a terrible birthday was instead a ton of fun. One of the slogans on their brochure is that their show is perfect for ages 7-107 and it was totally true for our diversely aged group! I would've paid $107 for this it was that great! (Ok, maybe not that much, but you get the idea, worth the $ I'm excitable, I'm sorry, Yelp!) Anyway, I'd recommend it is the point. Watch out for Lil Mate and have fun. read more

I did not know what to expect, never having been to this type of entertainment venue. But I am someone who enjoys riddles, puzzles, and other similar challenges, so I went in with an open mind. And I'm glad I did! Once I stepped the Mobile Room Escape trailer, I was intrigued. I had done some reading about this type of thing, and being used to online escapes where everything rests on your ability to solve clues on your own, I was not sure how working with strangers and a few acquaintances would end. An hour is either a long time or a very, very short, especially when the clock is running. I promised I would not give anything away, but I will say that you need to pay very close attention to the clues! I looked at somethings one way, and were it not for my team, I would have missed the actual clue altogether. I will say that there were some things that I was able to solve when no one else could. In short, you need to work as a team to "escape!" I had an absolute ball, and would encourage even the biggest skeptic to give this a try. You will not be disappointed! I am already telling everyone I know that this would be great for a birthday party, a block party, carnival, school function, etc. And, if you were looking for the perfect team building event, this is it! I am talking to the folks at work about this, and I hope to get something together in the near future! A lot of fun for just about any age. This experience was awesome. Me and my girlfriend were looking to do something and I found out there was an escape room in Gurnee. We both were immediately down to go that night. We went and it exceeded our expectations by a ton. We had so much fun in that hour. The characters they put on were great and funny, and they were just very cool people in general. My girlfriend and I solved it with only about 2 minutes and 40 seconds to go in our hour. It was such a rush especially when we were getting near the end! The cleverness put into the room was brilliant and these type of things deserve to thrive especially with a crew like this. I created a yelp to write my first review just because I loved it so much. That shows how great it was in itself. I would reccomend this to anyone. I personally am not one to seek something like this out but I'm glad I did. Never have participated in a room escape before I wasn't sure what to expect at first but a few short minutes in, I was completely engaged. You're given 60mins to escape the room and it flew by. I was very impressed on how everything flowed together and how it was all coordinated. With 1 minute and 36 seconds to spare, we narrowly escaped the room! My daughter and her friends had such a great time with Mobile Room Escape last weekend for her 10 year birthday celebration. Due to the size of the participants, we had the two 30 mins Super Hero game. The kids could not stop taking about it afterwards. Amy and Jason did a great job coordinating the setup and the game master did a great job guiding the kids to ensure everyone enjoyed the game. We were looking for a way to bring some team building and problem solving activities to our summer camp program. The Mobile Escape was a perfect fit! Melina was a delight to work with. She understood 13 and 14 year olds and was constantly observing them. Jason even took the time after the event to talk to the children about entrepreneurship and his development of the Mobile Escape. My wife rented this for our sons 14th birthday party with nine of his friends. It was great! They had a great time. I wasn't sure if they would really enjoy it but they had a blast. They loved it. I was impressed and the mobile unit was really well set up and had a lot of great puzzles to solve. My friends and I have been to a number of escape rooms, and this one may have been my favorite yet. The puzzles are clever and plenty. I won't spoil anything, but the whole experience has a great element of humor to it, too. My 11 and 13 year old daughters really enjoyed this. So did my husband and I. The professor and his assistants were great! I have been looking for something like this and this is the first one I've been able to find nearby. It is an hour long, but that hour flies by while you're putting together clues and solving riddles. Definitely worth the time and money. read more

This was so fantastic! I had done escape rooms before, but this one was the most interactive and interesting with really engaging characters and guides in the room. Just finished the mobile room escape with Super Twin Mom and Christie. It was awesome! Tough clues and good teamwork allowed us to figure our way out with 1:07 to spare. . Went with a group of 5 women and had a blast. The time flew by as we searched for clues and broke into groups to find the next one. The groups continued to changes back and forth until we solved the mystery and escaped with time to spare. Great team building exercise. Lots of fun. read more
