John you did an incredible job we loved the Cowboy in Tucson Saloon ... And with four kids under the age of 10 I wasn't too sure as dad but everyone had an absolute blast for an hour! It was noisy at times lol bc they were into it! And you kept the clues coming - your timing was awesome - and the parents laughed and the kids looked for all the different ways using numbers, cards and letters... I highly recommend this for any families - just call ahead and let John know what you're trying to do. Awesome experience! You can see by the pictures we had 2 10-year-olds and 2 eight-year-olds and we just about found the gold! This was exciting plus we just missed solving it lol by about five minutes! I have been to a few escape rooms, this was one of my favorites. The staff was great. They offer a large variety of rooms where most places usually have 3 or 4. I got a chance to experience the VR room which you would think is difficult however it was awesome! It allowed you to be in space as if you where there by still using the typical escape room strategy by picking up things and solving puzzles. I opted for the more difficult level the dragons egg and was one step away from escaping, however none the less it was awesome. I will definitely go back to do all the rooms and the VR. The place is very well built and put together it most certainly deserves 5 stars. read more

Completed the Dragon's Egg Quest. The puzzles weren't anything too complicated, and the technology was pretty standard for any escape room. Gave a mom-and-pop feel in that it wasn't super fancy and was definitely homemade. I would recommend this one to anyone who's a fan of Game of Thrones! I would say this room is very middle of the road in terms of difficulty, but a good place to start if this is your first time trying an escape room. I'm only giving this place a 3-star rating because I've done almost 20 different escape rooms at this point, and it just wasn't anything super impressive compared to what I've seen. read more

We did the VR escape room. I'm giving it 2 stars because it does have a lot of bugs and inadequacies compared to other VR places I've been to. Ambience First the VR headset is just ok. The field of view is fairly limited and feels more like googles vs an immersive experience. They tell you to put only one side of the headphones on so you can talk to others and hear the employees giving you clues. This totally takes the immersive feeling away from the experience because you can hear the employees chatting and other customers walking past you. I should mention that the rooms are not closed off rooms so you can hear ambient sounds like cars in the parking lot. Other VR places had total headphones and microphones so you only heard sounds in game. Gameplay The game itself was decent. The graphic are feel like an early 2000's video game. The characters move like a low cpu game vs any of the current at home video games. For example a dog in the game could only walk in 90 degree axis and had to rotate in place before moving forward. Just odd to me that this passes for 2019 computer games. Hardware Issues So we had the following hardware issues: Headset turned off and rebooted in middle of the game. When it rebooted the audio was gone. I did not have audio for the last 10 minutes. My friends VR pack ran out of batteries and he had to switch out to another pack. The whole purpose of doing this is to play a game but feel like you are immersed in another environment. However these issue kept popping up and interrupting our game. Unfortunately, these are unacceptable issues when running a VR business. I'd like to come back but maybe in a few years when they upgrade their equipment. read more

We have done a lot of escape rooms and were super disappointed in this company. Let's start from the beginning, where I can point out that they are getting 2 stars instead of 1 because the employees were nice. However, there was 1 employee that decided to go smoke a cigarette immediately before walking us back to our room to explain the rules. With none of us being smokers, we didn't enjoy spending an hour in a room smelling like smoke. I thought it was super rude. If you need to smoke, then have another one of the employees walk us back. We decided on doing The Hangover room, which we were super excited for. We actually refreshed our memory on the movie before we went, thinking it would be based mostly off of the movie. Once we got into the room, that's when everything went wrong. The room was TINY and extremely hot. With 8 adults, you could barely move. There certainly were not enough clues/puzzles in the room for 8 people, so most of us just spent time standing there doing nothing. There were random ties into the movie, but hardly at all. The objective was to look for 3 items. The weirdest thing is that they don't even lock you in the room. They said "feel free to go to the bathroom or step outside". This is weird to me and takes away an aspect of the fun, but I imagine it's a liability aspect. Without giving away any of the clues/puzzles, I can tell you that this escape room is IMPOSSIBLE with just the stuff in the room. There is literally NO way you can escape this room without using clues from the employees. My family is competitive and prides themselves on not using clues to get out. The girl in the beginning did tell us over and over again, don't let your pride get you and use our clues. But you should not HAVE to use clues to get out. The other extremely weird thing is that in other rooms, typically you finish all of the locks/clues in the first room and then go to the second and do not have to go back and forth. This one is not like that. We would have never known that until the end, because again-the puzzles did not tell us that. With all of this being said, we will not come here again. We all left feeling mad and frustrated. Even after the clues were explained to us, we didn't understand how we could have come to the conclusion. And we had a pharmacist and an engineer in our group, so it was not just a lack of IQ. My suggestion to the business owner is to restructure these rooms so that people can figure them out on their own. You should not be proud of a 41% success rate and a record of 55 out of 60 minutes. This just means your room does not make sense! read more

I went back and tried the VR room, the space room. Absolutely incredible. I have done VR before, oculus and Samsung vr, but not like this where you can walk around and see the other people in your group. If you have never tried it, you definitely need to. VR is so futuristic and needs to be supported. The space escape room itself want too hard... It honestly seemed like it was designed for kids. However it was just plain fun! You can pick things up and throw them around the space station, which just doesn't seem to get old. Escaping the room was almost secondary to the fun space elements. We got out pretty quick and they were nice enough to let us see the horror hospital VR walk through, which was... Interesting. Anyway, based on others reviews here for the physical escape rooms, try them at your own risk. But the VR rooms just seem plain fun. read more

Fun experience with the kids to escape the summer heat! We did the Chocolate Factory room and it was so fun for both kids and adults.

My son brought 5 of his friends to Escape Room 101 for his birthday. The kids did the Baker's Street Room and really enjoyed it. We had an hour to complete the room and they give you ample clues along the way to encourage your success. The boys were able to complete the room with 2 minutes to spare and they all said they want to do it again. I would highly recommend this experience for kids 12 and up and adults. Kids younger than 10 may not be able to decipher the clues as well but with parents help they would likely be ok. We had 7 people in our group (6 where kids) and the space was ok for that many but with adults I would keep it limited to 6. All in all, it was great fun and we will definitely do it again soon. read more

We went for the Baker Street scenario with a couple friends we do Treasure Hunts with and had an amazing time. Lots of puzzles and challenges that made us think. Our assistant, Ashley was enthusiastic and fun and we appreciate her. So far this is the second Escape Room company we have experience with and really enjoyed the room and the staff at 101! We had one small (literally) problem with how a found clue was presented. We gave Ashley our feedback but found out that Baker Street scenario will be going away when they close the old location. Will definitely try some more of their scenarios in the future. read more

This was a first time escape room experience for most of our family and we really enjoyed it. We had one more person than the recommended 8 because everyone wanted to do it. I think everyone contributed in some way but I'm thinking a maximum of 6 people would have been best for the Murder Mystery room. We did the GoT room. Staff was very courteous and the place was very clean. Overall the room flowed very well, but there are a couple of minor things that could be improved. Minor improvements...For an escape room, there are way too many decorations in here that are "do not touch". They have stickers on them and the intro from staff has a lengthy list of things to not touch. This is unfortunately probably necessary as someone has likely touched or broken something that made it necessary, but there were some things that were revealed in the no touch speech...this plays a part in the game but you don't have to take it apart, this does something but you don't have to touch it...I honestly lost track of what I could and couldn't touch. All of the escape rooms I've done have a much more basic intro. Revealing part of the game in this, no matter how minor, is a downer for me. I'd recommend just pointing out that the stickers mean do not touch and leave it at that. It was a bit dark and tough to read locks or other items at some points. The lighting adds to the mood but maybe provide a flashlight to assist. The biggest issue I had with this room was we never asked for help but received a lot of it. For a beginner this might seem helpful, but if you do a lot of rooms, this is a huge downer. If I need help, I will ask for a clue. Even the staff intro said clearly ask for help and we will give you assistance. People are here to use their brains and to try to figure things out...let them. They will ask for help if they need it. There are some things that should always be pointed out, like when you are doing something right and the game doesn't respond correctly...things are sometimes finicky and won't work unless placed exactly as needed. Those things are fine being pointed out...they should be...but don't give help to a clue unless people ask. Still had an amazing time and would come here again. read more

Awesome experience. This was not our first escape room, but we really enjoyed the experience better than previous ones. We did the Secret Agent one. The room was huge by escape room standards and well lit, which is big for my wife. We hate the dark rooms that makes it impossible to see anything. Puzzles were fun and challenging, but not impossible. We got timely hints to keep us moving along so we could complete the room in time. Sometimes, it's nice to get a hint when they see you struggling than to ask for one - made us feel like we completed the puzzle without "asking" for help - lol. We liked the people running the escape room, but did not care much for the room (The Dragon Eggs Quest). Wish it was more cohesive and stuck more to the theme of what the room was supposed to be. For a couple of things, it seemed like you were forced to get clues (there were no hints within the room to let you work them out yourself). We have done dozens of escape rooms within the valley and are never big fans of ones that are not cohesive and force you to get clues. If you don't mind it, then you will probably like the room. read more

It was sufficiently difficult but not impossible. I have been to many of the escape rooms in the area and this ranks up there with the best of them. We took our Girl Scout Troop to the Chocolate Factory escape room and the girls had a blast! This was mixed ages and it was challenging for all, including the adults (but we tried to let the girls do the work). We were able to get hints when we got stuck.
