I thought I would get a jump on the situation by visiting a center. I signed a waiver and a very friendly staff member showed me around. Most impressive. There is a relaxation area with massage chairs after a workout. In the ladies locker room, you'll find a huge supply of towels, showers, lockers, sauna, infrared studio, & cold plunge. There are separate studios set up for slowing activities such as Pilates and yoga and another studio set up for higher activity classes. There is a room full of gym equipment, free weights, TRX, barbells, Bosu balls and so much more. I'm excited! Looking forward to this new gym joining the area! Plenty of parking and WiFi on site.

My trainer Austin is excellent to work with and is helping me achieve my goals. I've lost almost 15 lbs in 5 months and my body composition has dramatically changed. His workouts are effective and challenging. He pushes me on the weight but I need that push. Austin helps me understand the "why" behind the exercise which I appreciate. I have prior injuries but have had zero issue with inflammation or pain which speaks very highly of his expertise. Another plus is that he is a boxer so I added boxing to my sessions for cardio. I was pleasantly surprised when Bailee streamlined the process without any pressure. She also offered me free trials of membership benefits like the red light therapy and the brand new cold plunge! Bailee was so friendly and helpful in assisting me in deciding on how to proceed with my membership choices in a non committal way like I wanted. Another gentleman (I think his name was Brad) gave us a tour and was very respectful of the limited amount of time I had to spend on the tour. A great part about Mountainside fitness is that they allow 12-year-olds to join so that means my daughter can come with me! I could not find another gym in the area that allows children under 13 to attend so I was really pleased at this privilege. I also liked that all the memberships allow you to go to any location.! To my surprise, there aren't any 24 Hour Fitness locations in Phoenix. So, I needed to make a switch. Mountainside has quite a few locations around town. The closest one to my place is the Desert Ridge location. So, that's where I typically go to. But I was feeling frisky and decided to try out the Paradise Valley location on a Monday around 5:30 p.m. The parking lot was almost full, but I was able to snag one of the last available spots. Something to keep in mind at peak times. The layout and size of this gym is almost identical to the Desert Ridge location. Which is a good think. The gym, locker room, and bathrooms are clean. There's a good selection of equipment and it's well maintained. There's a half basketball court, dry sauna, and steam room. There are a decent number of TVs (though they could be bigger). There are exercise classes. All in all, for the bang for your buck, I haven't seen any other gym (ever) that provides better value. You also get complimentary towels with your visit. Forgot to mention that. Mountainside Fitness does everything I look for in a gym at a high level. There's a reason most gyms have overall ratings on Yelp of less than 4 stars. Mountainside Fitness gyms tend to be above 4 stars. That speaks volumes.
