Surprisingly, there is no American Express Centurion lounge at the Minneapolis airport, so Amex card holders are routed to this Escape Lounge located on the 2nd floor of the main mezz in Terminal 1. The lounge is part of Priority Pass network, so my wife and I got in that way. There was no wait, though finding seats took a bit of time. There was two buffet areas, the main one holding salads and breads, with the side one holding 4 hot entrees. I tried all of them, and the food was OK, better than airplane food. The soup was potato leek, and it was good. Good choice of salads including a good tomato salad and decent tasting sandwiches. The bar attendants were nice, and I was able to get a local beer from the bar. Pretty sure they use the same food service company that the centurion lounges use, since both are serviced by the same company. The weather had gotten a lot warmer in Minneapolis, and the airport itself was warm. But even for a Saturday afternoon, the Escape lounge was full and the ventilation system wasn't fully powered up to use A/C, so it was uncomfortable in the lounge. Thus once we finished our food and drink, gave up our seats to waiting folks and went to the less crowded gate area to wait for our flight back to Los Angeles.

As far as lunges go, this one is pretty standard. Typical continental breakfast fare (eggs, sausage, potato) but not too tasty. Coffee was pretty good. Latte maker was getting refilled and cleaned at 830am (bad time for a cleaning imo). Staff is friendly and laid back. Cleanliness is a bit iffy. People were working, but there was hair on every chair (I think the chair attracts them). And a cleaning lady started to help with refilling coffee beans but continued using the gloves she was wearing while cleaning.

Decent cozy lounge for the frequent travel card holder like priority pass. It's a smaller than Chase Sapphire and Capital One Lounges but still a good place to stop and grab some grub and drinks. They're complimentary or at a fee to enter if you don't have a travel card membership. Food choice were a bit limited but decent enough to eat. If you have good allergies like gluten you may have to request for specific allergens in the food as they are not indicated in the food labels. Compared to other airport lounges, it lacks additional amenities such as a wellness room, nursing room, to go area for the traveler in a rush, additional food options j closing food allergen labels, maintained furniture as some of the furniture showed wear and tear. Overall decent as having a lounge to have a separate place to chill before a flight.

Decent lounge option at MSP. I went there twice- on the way out and return, as my layover was there. It was easy to find. It was in the mezzanine level so you can take the stairwell or the elevator if you have luggage. The best thing about this place (or the airport as a whole) is it's not crowded. There was no wait to get into the lounge both times. I had such a heavy backpack with me so it was nice to sit down and take a break from it. The food selection for both breakfast and lunch was good. Hot food and cold food including fruits and salad. They also had desserts. I was able to relax after a long haul flight. I'll definitely return!

This is not an airline specific lounge but I was told that it was once a Centurion lounge. You can bring at least one guest. It is a great place to "lounge" while waiting for your flight. It offers your regular caffeinated drinks like coffee and tea. There is a bar but since I am not a drinker I can't really comment, there is a few people ordering their adult libations. The food selection has a variety from protein to vegetarian flair. The wait staff is efficient as they clean the table efficiently after each guest so that the next group can take a seat.

Solid overall, a bit forgettable as far as lounges go but nice to have. I was just coming from KC where the airport is new and the lounge is even newer. It was a five star experience, so naturally the next one won't hit quite the same. When I was here midday, it was busy but not crowded, and I was able to find a nice enough seat and.... lounge for a bit, getting some work done. The food wasn't really all that appealing, so I got a black coffee that was fine. The confusing part to me is most of these have a restroom but the one here was through some doors. Are you out of the lounge if you use it? That's the great mystery. I was done either way so I headed to my gate. I enjoy the quieter reprieve and WiFi, but honestly this wasn't that different than just getting a decent seat by my gate.

About a 2-2.5: We stopped by the Escape Lounge at MSP, and this was when they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch. Checking in was a breeze, and no reservations were required - note, however, that if you are not a member of the network, there is a different in cost between those who made advanced reservations compared to those who are walk-ins. The food was limited, and although they did refill often, they were just not piping hot and almost on the cold end - the bean dip was super cold, and the chicken marsala and the mac and cheese were just not heated at all. I stuck to the cheeses and the brussels sprouts. The bartenders are friendly, and there were plenty of La Colombe tea options and canned soda. Staff were friendly, but could do a better job in clearing plates from tables. The place has a good amount of seating, but does get filled up quickly and become busy at certain hours. +cold/lukewarm food +located at MSP

The variety of items on the buffet line is pretty good! If you have a group of four, they save tables for bigger groups with reserved signs. It's a huge help! They are trying to keep the flow of traffic better so that the wait isn't long. We enjoyed the complimentary drinks and snacks while we waited on a flight that was delayed for three hours. The bathrooms are clean and the lounge has so many windows it feels very open and not too cramped. If you have time and have a priority pass, swing by it's worth it!

Mediocre lounge experience. Poorly-maintained space, cramped seating, poor food selection, okay drinks. Better than waiting by the departure gates, but still mediocre...

Honestly I feel like this is one of the better lounges in terms of food that I've had in the US. I came the Monday of President's Day weekend and I was genuinely very surprised that the place was packed. It was interesting because the lounge size of this was around the same as the lounge size of PGH next door but there was a lot more people here. I'm so glad I'm an Amex cardholder because we would've had to wait 20+ minutes otherwise. The food here was honestly quite good. I appreciate that they had a list of options available so you knew what you were getting. Shoutout to the sundried tomatoes chicken rice as well as the parmesan broccoli. Although both was a bit salty, I feel like eating those definitely felt like a full dinner to me which was great. They also always were refilling the food once it was running low which I appreciated. I will say the one part that was a bit weird was the fact that you needed to physically leave the lounge to get to the bathrooms as it was this back hallway situation. Otherwise, I think this is a great lounge and especially if you haven't eaten yet, you can definitely count this place towards one of your meals. I also really appreciate that the keep the lounge clean, always coming around to grab plates and bowls.

Ask the Community - Escape Lounges

What's the coffee situation? Just black self-serve coffee or is there an espresso machine?

I have never seen an espresso machine in an escape lounge. Does not mean there is not one in a lounge I have not been to .

If my flight is in terminal 2, can I get into this lounge?

Yes. The Escape Lounge MSP is located in Terminal 1 on the mezzanine level above the entrance to concourse E. Take the staircase or elevator located on the left before entering Concourse E to access the entrance to the Escape Lounge. Please select… Read more

Aside from having the displeasure of walking extra distance, this lounge is probably the nicest dining/loungey space in the twin cities. It reminds me of the new Four Seasons downtown. That is not a knock on the Four Seasons, just pointing out how nice this lounge it. The design, fit/finish and quality of materials throughout are amazing, truly top shelf. Anywhere you sit, you feel like you are in a very special place. Also, it is mammoth, huge, gigantic. Expansive, too. There is plenty of room to spread out and find a space to sit and work or just gather with your travel buddies. There is plenty of food and there are a couple of bars, too. My one complaint is that it is so big, that it is tough for families to navigate with small kids. The inevitable back and forth for food, drinks, extra napkins, dropped forks, bathroom trips - can become a pain schlepping back and forth. But, if you are without kids, this place it great.

I used mine to get an omelette breakfast that exceeded my expectations. Just a really nice, fresh, cheesy omelette. Without that credit it would be overpriced just like everything at the airport, but still that was very yummy. I think that without a card/membership that admits you for free, it is $25 to just come in and use the lounge. There are separate areas to this lounge. One is a bar and restaurant, and there is also a shop with golf-type stuff. Seating is comparable to a family restaurant and it overlooks the central concourse. Then there is the quieter, more lounge-y section. You can get the same food/drinks whichever side you choose. And there are golf simulators! That's not my scene but I imagine golfers will appreciate this option. Seems expensive to me, $40 for a half hour, but maybe that's normal and I just don't like it because I'm not a golfer. But I'm thinking about that omelette and thinking I should return and use my $15 credit toward some lunch or dinner.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch after our trip in from LA, and found the food and experience to be decent. The club is over 21,000 square feet, making it the biggest at MSP (though not nearly as big as the newer Clubs at SLC and LAX and ATL). It is located on the upper deck of the airport, with entrance via elevator from the terminal floor. Its big feature is the year round open Sky Deck. There is a great variety of different seating, with various barriers giving different levels of privacy. The food was OK, with salad and a hot chicken dish being decent. This location continues to use real plates, bowls, and utensils, so bussing is a must to allow seating to be quickly reused. I did also stop by the bar to get a mojito, but the bartender did a poor job in making it (didn't muddle the mint, or use a shaker, and didn't bother measuring)...neither my wife or me bothered finishing it. Delta continues to allow visits after a flight, and with no AMEX Centurion Club at MSP, this club is a decent choice to visit for a drink and some hot food if at MSP.

It is such a treat to board first or at your leisure, and get a priority tag slapped on your luggage among some of the perks. What I wasn't expecting was complimentary lounge access at the United Club lounge at MSP. I had been to one United Club in EWR (Newark) over a decade ago. I probably have a different perspective from others who have rated this United Club. I am the type who doesn't take such opportunities for granted. I am a seasoned traveller, but I still feel like I'm the newbie who crashes business class now and again. Between the EWR and MSP United lounges, the former is indeed bigger. I remember snacking and making hot chocolate. It doesn't take much to keep me content. However, I like MSP a lot more. Sure, it's small. Size isn't everything. I feel like many are so focused on how large things are. How about quality? How yummy the food is? How nice staff are? This club is between gates E6 and E8. Air Canada and United flights arrive at and depart from concourse E. To get the magical door of this club lounge to open, you press a button on the right side of the wall. Once you are inside, you check in at the desk by scanning your boarding pass. I always feel like I'm a newbie at any lounge. Luckily, the woman at the desk was so friendly. I scanned my boarding pass from my phone. It worked nicely. The woman welcomed me in as if I were a regular. As expected, all lounge seating by the window was taken. I was fine being in front of a TV screen, with the windows to my right. I actually was pleased that the view was so nice. I had charging plugs and USB ports by my comfy seat. I charged my phone, which felt like a luxury. I headed to the food and drink area to see what was there. I came in with a Caribou Coffee sparkling drink, so I didn't bother with drinks at this lounge. However, I did feel like a snack. I got veggie sticks and a turkey sandwich. Both were yummy and hit the spot. I was here on St. Patrick's Day. A woman came by, asking if I wanted a corned beef sandwich and coleslaw. Wow! I said yes. I got them on a little tray with a fork. These two items were even better than what I had just eaten. The sandwich was divine. Maybe it's because I don't indulge in corned beef as much as I used to. I loved the coleslaw. It was crunchy and I'm always a fan of some side salad. I used the washroom before leaving this lounge. It was a single stall and was clean. My flight was to start boarding at 4 pm. Instead, I heard a courtesy call in this lounge that it was the last call for my flight. What?! The good thing was that I was boarding at gate E3, which wasn't far. I also didn't have anyone sitting next to me in my aisle, so I didn't need to make anyone stand up to get to my window seat. I thanked the two women at the club front desk and wished them a great day. I then headed to my gate and heard my last name being called out with two other folks. I had a wonderful experience at this lounge. It had everything that I needed. Staff were friendly. That corned beef sandwich with coleslaw was yummy. (137)

Snacks to go were limited to chocolate covered espresso beans which is an elevated option, but not being a morning sweets kind of person, variety would've been nice. They did have orange juice, cranberry juice, teas, coffees, water, and lemonade so breakfast wise that worked for me. I did notice that there wasn't a drink fountain so you'd probably order soda from the bar. The bathroom was clean, the WiFi was fast, and the team members were friendly. There weren't any desks or meeting/phone spaces so not the most ideal if you're planning on working while traveling. This airport is pretty nice with amble seating, but I wouldn't pass up on this United Club next time I'm here. However, if you're buying a day pass, I'd probably opt for the Escape Lounge because it's cheaper, bigger, and has hot food available.
