First time in an escape room and had a great time! Julia was a great game master, sweet and great in character. We needed hints which she happily provided! It has some great challenges (we did medium level) and was the first time for all three of us, and we all left saying we would go back!

    The Queen!

We tried "the Queen" room and had such a fun experience! Originally we were supposed to do the room with four people but one person from our party couldn't make it. Even down one person, we were able to escape with a few minutes to spare! This isn't to say that there weren't any challenges or head scratching moments because there definitely are! The location is unique because your experience happens once you open the door to their building. Because of this, your party will need to wait outside until it's your time to play the game. Bathrooms are available before you go in, you just need to alert a team member and they'll guide you around the building so you don't encounter any spoilers. Lizzy was our game master and she was great with explaining the premise of the room's story and provide any guidance during our escape. The whole beginning of this room is super unique and I won't spoil it but it was very creative how they tied it to the narrative. I love the room's decor and theming. There were various relics and antiques unique to their location that made sense for the time frame they wanted to portray. I really liked the effects of this room as well. Despite being a small space, each nook and cranny was utilized. I would definitely come back to try their other room! Thanks for an amazing time, Escape Long Beach!

Really nice set up, honestly if it wasn't for the young me. With us my mom hubby and I would've still be in that room and I chose level 1 because it was our first time, but the host helped us out too through the Walkie talkie but it was grant family fun

Great experience. We did The Lab. Took a bunch of 13 year olds and watched them go crazy trying to save California. We failed and everyone died. 10/10 recommend. Maybe do the easy level if you're going with kids.

I have done both rooms here. I like how you can pick your level of difficulty (1, 2, or 3). I choose level 3 both times because I enjoy the challenge. Although it has been a few months since we did "the queen", so I don't remember much except that I did enjoy it and thought it was well made. Our game master was great but I forgot his name. More recently, I just did "the lab" with our game master lizzy. She was great! She went over the rules and back story of "the lab". I liked how she offered to let us know if we got the puzzle right but can't open the lock because of user error/mechanism failure. She also helped nudge us in the right direction because we did then to overthink one puzzle. As for the room, I expected it to be small because I did the queen. I would say no more than 5 average size adults to be comfortable. However, don't let the size fool you. Plenty of puzzles to solve. We're given 55 minutes to solve and get out. Believe me, we used the majority of that time. I've been to bigger escape rooms and they don't utilize the space well. The lab is definitely more challenging than the queen but both are excellent rooms. Do both!

First time ever at an escape room and this was perfect! Our game host was excellent and she made this experience so much fun for us. We had a great time doing "The Lab" escape room and can't wait to come back and do other levels. Thanks again to the staff!

A fun escape room. Nina was a great hostess, and my wife and I enjoyed our time here. The set up is nice and has very good special effects and the room design is very well done. I'm glad we chose this escape room for our anniversary and will be coming back again for sure!

My best friend, spouse and I came here on Friday afternoon. We had completed a handful of escape rooms in LA, but wanted to try this one because it was local. It did not disappoint! Nina was awesome! I'm going to gather that she has some acting chops, she made it interesting and entertaining. We had chosen The Queen, intermediate level. We finished with 13 plus minutes to spare, but I believe we had gotten one hint. Both The Lab and The Queen are in single rooms, but we really had to exercise our brain cells to figure out a couple of the clues. We will definitely be back to do the Lab. Thanks again for adding some fun to the afternoon!

Navah and Aj were super fun hosts! We did both the Lab and the Queen. I loved the puzzles so much! They were unique and I never seen them before. There were some that made us scratch brain. Definitely recommend!!!

Do we look worried before we started? We'd already lost one team member!!

Let me preface this review by mentioning I've not done an Escape Room before, so it's hard for me…read moreto rate them, especially the same way I rate restaurants, coffee shops, or even parks for that matter, IYKYK. However, after doing my very first escape room at Cinema Escape Rooms, I'm definitely willing to make a return visit, not just to this one, but any escape room really. Cinema Escape Rooms is located in a town square in Los Alamitos on the south side of Katella between Noel and Lexington. It may be easy to miss because it's on the second level of a two-story building, and you almost certainly won't see the first word, especially if you're driving by. Look for the words "Escape Room" on the second level by a stairwell next to 7 Eleven, and that's where Cinema Escape Rooms is. First and foremost, don't go there without having made an appointment first; the appointments help the gamemasters plan ahead by cleaning and preparing the rooms before the start of each game. They have four rooms available: Ark of the Covenant, A Strange Thing, Home All Alone, and Office Escape. Each of the four rooms can accommodate a different number of people, from 7 to 15, and the pricing will vary, even per person, depending on how many are in a group. The cheapest rate is $35 per person, and you'd need at least 4 other teammates to attain that rate. Given everything mentioned in this paragraph, it can be understandable how planning a team outing can be a little challenging here, especially with the possibility of last-minute no shows or others who want in last minute. Here's an example: I was hoping to do Home All Alone because I was most familiar with the Home Alone movie. However, I was asked to switch to A Strange Thing, which I'm not familiar with, but could accommodate two more people if we had any last-minute additions. I thought the more familiar you are with the movie, the more likely you'll escape the room before your hour is up, but that's not necessarily the case here, though I could argue you might not be as actively engaged with your team. I switched anyways. We had a dozen in our party, and to ensure that everybody would pay the same rate, we had to divide our party so that no one group was at least twice the size of the other. However, one person in my group ended up kind of late, which almost caused one of us to have to switch over. She did arrive just a few minutes later, which gave ample time for one of the gamemasters to give a brief orientation to the group doing Office Escape while we were waiting for our last team member to arrive, so I got to listen to this orientation twice. The two most important things in my opinion are one, there are biohazard signs on items that are not intended to be clues for the game. Secondly, nothing needs to be pulled/pushed/opened/closed/etc. with excessive force, kind of like trying to fit a puzzle piece that isn't shaped to fit. I was a little surprised, though pleasantly of course, that we were allowed unlimited hints without a time penalty. However, we wanted to progress as far through as possible with minimal help. The gamemaster would keep an eye on us via camera in the room, and they'd give us hints depending on our progress. Also, each clue is only used once, so keep track of which ones have been used and which ones haven't! Of course, I'd rather not spoil the details, but I kept misinterpreting the clues as red herrings for the most part. Except for one where we were stuck for a good 5-10 minutes close to the end, and the gamemaster, Mike, was impressed enough with something I said that he used my quotation as a hint for us to find that missing piece to the puzzle. Really appreciated that because I was apparently onto something that the rest of my team didn't catch on to! Of course, there will be times when your teammates will understand something, but you may not. When we were finally done, I wasn't sure it was done until Mike opened the door to let us know we had won. I loved how encouraging he was to our group! There's a waiver you need to fill out first, and the QR code is posted at the front door. I didn't know this ahead of time, and one of my teammates brought up a concern that if you didn't bring your phone, you wouldn't be able to fill out the waiver, which is in the form of a Google Document. I would recommend having a kiosk or two at the front that can be dedicated to waivers. The lighting in the A Strange Thing room was not consistent throughout the game. Some parts had significantly dimmer lighting that it became harder to read the clues. There are also parts where lights are flashing like crazy, which can be startling. I almost thought about giving 4 stars, but decided to keep it at 5 stars because their website did give the fair warnings about the lighting in this game. Overall, I highly recommend Cinema Escape Rooms! BTW, if you're curious, my group of 5 escaped in 52 minutes, and the other group of 7 escaped in 57 minutes. Go my group! lol

This is a nice place for either a rage room or an escape room…read more A few weeks ago, I did a rage room experience here, which was my first time doing a rage room. Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. I should check out their escape rooms some time soon.

Overall a positive experience with a couple of cons:…read more - When we arrived, there wasn't any clear instructions of where/what we should do as there is no front desk. Also took a while before someone came out to help (I think they were in the back assisting maybe another customer?) but some signage would help. - Waivers could be sent prior to arrival to save on time since it was a google form - staff could be more welcoming and better at explaining. I understand it may be sketchy to go to a customer's car to evaluate items brought from home since it could be a risk to the staff, but I think it could either be instructed earlier before arrival OR simply just state that you cannot leave the business. The delivery of the comment made by the staff was not very smooth (almost felt like implying we were bringing something bad or wrong). - A timer inside the room might be helpful as it's hard to keep track of time once you're destroying things. - Phone "mount" could be better secured with a clasp or something because one bump and our phone fell on the ground where there's shards and scraps everywhere. This could have easily scratched the phone. - Room felt cramped, but understand that may be limited by the size of the store space. - Half of the group was arriving late, in which I shared upfront and thought that the staff would assist in getting them as ready as possible before our first group came out to swap, but when I came out, I saw that they had not even begun to change. I understand the face shield and gloves are limited quantities, but they could have started fitting in the other items like jumpsuit and face coverings. - Also as we were swapping, I ended up giving the second group the instructions when it really should have been the staff to give them the run through. It felt very disorganized during the swapping. For the price, I think it would be nice if each group received at least one larger item and not just cups, plates, and glass. All-in-all, it was fun to let out some rage by wrecking things and not having to clean it up. My friends and I did enjoy this different experience. Also fun to watch them from the room cam inside the Axe Room as they rage.

Every time we come to the Escape Game and try a new room, we are blown away by the tech they use. It's not-your-average mom & pop escape room, and for that reason we LOVE it. This means that you can bring your whole group in, and there's a chance you might have some strangers joining you as well if there's still space. Games start pretty on time, so make sure to be there with waivers signed! Also, they occasionally offer 20% off your next game once you escape the first! These games lean more on the tech side utilizing digital screens, electronic doors/buttons, lights, and puzzles - all of which I love! It adds more flavor to the game, while still providing the traditional puzzles feel with some rooms having locks, ropes, and mind-tingling puzzles. I would venture to say I like having more physical handheld clues like papers or props for decoding, but this place does get the job done. Some of the puzzles even require you to work simultaneously with your escape room team which creates more thrill! I have had friends that have gone here to the same rooms I have done where the rooms are slightly changed depending on the amount of people in the room or if the tech is broken - so just be aware that your experience could be different than others. For the price of about $42 a person you can't go wrong since there are multiple options that vary in difficulty from 3/10 to 9/10. Overall would recommend especially for a quick fun nigh
