We had such a good time we are still talking about it 4 days later! There was 3 of us and we came for my best friend's birthday. We've gone back and forth about doing an escape room debating if we'd actually be able to do it, but we finally caved and decided to. We chose the theme "dinner time" which was a little more "spooky" We had unlimited hints and an hour to get out of the room. After 4 hints and 58 minutes we were able to escape. For this being our first legitimate escape room we had so much fun. There were a lot of boxes we had to unlock, and the room was decorated very well to fit the theme. (You can tell the employees who run it had fun decorating the walls) The more things you discover/unlock the more exciting it got. The staff when I called to confirm a few questions I had were incredibly helpful and kind, and the girl who welcomed us and gave us our hints was very thorough and we definitely would've been stuck in there without her. We also got a Groupon deal that made it almost half off, which was great given we weren't sure if we'd enjoy it or not. But without a doubt we enjoyed it and we will certainly be back! THEIR NEW/CORRECT ADDRESS IS: 132 Federal Road Brookfield, CT. (They are on the second floor) read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. I would suggest booking ahead online to reserve your room. Located between BJ's and Dairy Queen. They are located on the second floor to the right, just follow the signs. The staff was very friendly, and even offered to take a picture of us at the end. A few different rooms available, we chose patient number three. It was close to an hour of fun and got us to use some critical thinking skills. They honored a coupon code from almost 4 years ago when I had to cancel a party due to Covid. It took a few minutes to find, but there were no issues when the code was found in their database. Will definitely come back to try another room. read more

I did an escape room here on a weekend. First, if you call, no one answers the phone. If you email, no one responds. We had a special event and the website mentioned they can do something special for special events if you contact them, but my attempts at contacting them were fruitless. Just in case you are unsure of where to go, the escape room business is on the second floor. We played the Clue room. Given the price being so low, it was a solid room with a fun theme. That said, there were puzzles you could just brute-force your way through if you wanted to, and the clues from the game-master we needed were mostly not clues but help because a certain piece of the room didn't work from a technical perspective. Unlike at other escape rooms, the game-masters are definitely not paying any attention to what you're doing in the room unless you call on a walkie-talkie for a clue, at which point you have to explain to them what you're doing. read more

Wish the rooms were more interactive and decorated. Most escape rooms today are decorated really well and have multiple rooms/hidden areas. This one (at least the room we did, assuming all are the same) was one small room with white walls and was very cheaply decorated. Staff were friendly, but took a while to respond to our request for clues which ran our clock down. Wouldn't go back read more

A group of seven of us did a room here and really enjoyed it! Some of us have done many escape rooms before and some of us were brand new to it. We all enjoyed it! The difficulty level was as stated and the theme of the room was interesting yet easy to follow. We had a group of people ages 11 to 55 and all enjoyed! The person working with us was very nice and had a good sense of humor. We highly recommend this place! read more

Came here last Sunday for a fun birthday surprise! Hubby planned it for our family and it was a great time! First time experiencing and will definitely come back! We chose the hardest room and after 1.5 hours and a couple of clues, we gave up right before the last step! We had enough at that point and we were all hungry, but had a great time!!! We forgot to take a pic....:( read more

My friend and I visited the Cryptid Room in the new Brookfield location yesterday and had a wonderful experience. We had never been to an escape room before and were not really sure what to expect, but our gamemaster was wonderful, she explained the rules and the game to us and even allowed us a little extra time to finish the game (apparently we were not as clever as we thought we were - LOL). We enjoyed ourselves so much and are already planning to visit again. read more

There is one super friendly employee who is welcoming and helpful. Some rooms are better than others, but fun overall.

Escape 101 was a strange, yet fun place! I invited my friends here for my birthday, and got to do the Victim No. 7 room based on our group size and total experience level. Make sure you call or go online and reserve your room at least a few days in advance, they do get busy on the weekends. The group I brought was a mix of friends and strangers, and doing an escape room was a really good way to break that awkward ice. The teamwork needed in the room helped warm my friends up to each other, because you have to work together and communicate to get out! The puzzles were slightly harder than we expected, and unfortunately we weren't able to escape our room. However, our host gave us the percentage of about how far we had made it (80%!), and offered a choice- a discount off our next visit or the answers to the puzzles- we chose the answers. We got to ask him questions on where we went wrong and what in the room was significant or not. Overall this was a fun, interesting experience with a great host! Tip.. definitely don't drink before you come play. You need some brain power for these rooms! read more

Escape 101 - My group failed Victim No. 7, but we still had fun! - Escape Games Near Me - Brookfield, Connecticut

We thought it was way overpriced! Paid $350 and def not a party atmosphere. The party room was soooo small! Ten kids barely fit in the room. Also this is more for a mature crowd. Do not have a party here for anyone who is younger than 13. It's more for older kids ...maybe 14 snd up is best! read more

Every challenge is a combination lock and the theme is very lack luster. It was okay.

The new location in Brookfield is a real let down after the old place in Danbury. I wish I could leave zero stars. The new location is filthy - the bathroom was truly disgusting, and the floors look like they've never been vacuumed. The staff was incredibly rude, nothing like the friendly group at the old location. No one there seemed to like their job, not even sure why they work there. Bad attitudes from every staff member we encountered, like they resented us being there. We had a small group of 4, and the room was so tiny it was suffocating, I can't imagine a full group of 6+ in there. There was only one thing to sit on, normally we'd just sit on the floor to work on the locks but the floor was so gross we didn't even want to leave our coats on it. Props and clues were awful compared to the old location. I'm an experienced player and was introducing 3 friends to the experience, and now they're turned off on escape rooms for good. The clues were in some cases nonsensical or missing, there was no way to solve the room on our own, and the staff was nasty and resentful when we asked for clues. I will never go back to this location - I really miss the old place, it was professional, clean and lots of fun. I could create a better escape room experience in my basement than what they have now in Brookfield. If you want a fun escape room experience, find another place. This one is a real bomb. read more

Escape 101 - We made it, so much fun! - Escape Games Near Me - Brookfield, Connecticut

Came with a group of 7 experienced players and did the Doomsday & Victim #7 rooms back-to-back - 5 stars all around! Victim #7 was by far the trickiest room we've ever done (and we've done upwards of 100 escape games) - we got out with just over 6 minutes to spare. Love the fact that each room had so many multi-faceted puzzles, and with 7 of us, there was never a point where anyone was pushed to the background with nothing to work on or solve. We will definitely be going back to do the other 2 rooms. Also worth noting that Caitlin was super responsive & helpful when I had initially emailed about our booking, and the other staff on-site were really friendly, fun people. 2 thumbs up. read more

Have done all the different rooms here. All of them are great, particularly Doomsday. A bunch of creative puzzles and clues we haven't seen at any of the other rooms that we've done. read more

We took our girls (12, 16 & 20) to their first "Escape Room" and they had a great time. They have four rooms (we tried Jet Set) and found it challanging and by working together managed to escape with a minute to go and only four clues. Absolutely a lot of fun and something you should try with the family! read more

Disappointed that I can't leave 0 stars for this. My friends and I booked the doomsday room for our visit. Upon entering the establishment, the one employee that claims to be the manager already had a negative attitude toward one of the other groups in the middle of their escape room experience, complaining that they were asking for too many hints and were basically asking to have everything solved for them. At the time, I chalked it up to a bad group, but that should've been the red flag for us to back out of this. Once we entered the room, we were given very minimal backstory about the theme of the room itself, which is usually a staple of escape rooms in general. Very little creativity in the puzzles themselves. It was just a lot of trying to figure out several different locks and keys. There was one creative puzzle where we had to place different colored key cards on top of a box in a specific order. We figured out the order we had to place them in, however, it would not unlock the adjacent box as it should've. After further inspection, we figured out that the sensor below the purple key card had been disconnected as the duct tape holding it together had gave way. This is the first escape room we had to fix one of the puzzles for the establishment. Duct tape seemed to be a common thing trying to hold everything together for this room. There was another puzzle where we would have to control an RC car behind plexiglass to get another key. When we found the controller, the controller itself was busted as it would not move the car. When we notified the employees about this, they told us to remove the duct tape from the glass to take it down, manually move the RV car, and "solve the puzzle" this way. In our entire time there we only asked for one clue, to which the employee on the walkie talkie responded asking "well where are you" and "how many of the jars have you found and where did you find them". This really surprised me, as escape rooms typically have someone monitoring the groups in their rooms through a camera so that when asked for a hint, they can give a relevant one. How are we supposed to say where we are in the game when the "puzzles" seemed to have very little connectivity with each other? After a couple of minutes, she advised me to find one in the lower left desk drawer, which we had been trying to do in the first place, so that did not feel like a clue. Afterwards, she just decided to give me the combination to a different drawer to "get us moving along", which is not what we were looking for. When the room had run out of time, we spent a few minutes waiting for someone to let us out. We tried opening the door ourselves but it was locked. Eventually, we had to notify the employees through the walkie talkie for them to let us out. Suffice to say, we were not happy. I stayed behind to ask for some sort of partial refund since there were several problems with the room and how the room was run. The manager was extremely dismissive and had a poor attitude, did not even look at me when she gave me an "apology" card for a $25 discount on our next visit. Given that we paid $28 per person for this visit for our group of 8 people, we will not be returning to Escape 101. I tried explaining the key card problem where we fixed the tape and wire sensor for them, and she accused us of fucking with the puzzle and breaking it ourselves. She further goes on to say "sorry we were so busy trying to manage 5 other rooms" as an excuse as to why our experience was so poor (there were two employees running this room. "Caitlyn" was very apologetic towards us, "Bethany" was the extremely dismissive manager), which, for an escape room, should never be an excuse for anything. Overall, 0 stars for Escape 101. Not sure how this has an average of 4.5 on Google. I would advise anyone looking for an escape room to look elsewhere. It was the first ever escape room for a couple members in our party, and I can only hope this experience does not turn them away from wanting to do future escape rooms. read more

We did this for my husband's birthday and it was... AWESOME!! We did the Doomsday room, which is apparently their hardest room, and made it out! It would be unfair to describe our experience in this room, but suffice it to say that the person whose job it is to create these rooms and experiences is a genius with the best job ever. Incredibly impressive. Can't wait to do another one. read more

Escape 101 - Doomsday - 8:21 left - Escape Games Near Me - Brookfield, Connecticut

Run down, and many things were out of place/missing in our room making the mystery impossible to solve. We were able to figure out that was the issue though, so our detective skills were on point. Overall wouldn't go back or recommend unless it was upgraded, but happy I went at least one time read more

Went to The Widow's Room at Escape 101 in Danbury. Three of us had done other Escape Rooms previously. In my opinion, this particular one is WAY too difficult., to the point of being frustrating. I would definitely not recommend this room to first-timers. The puzzling was complicated. But I think, for us, there was simply too much to do in 60 minutes. And the success rate is only 10%. Maybe with a little adjusting, it would be more fun. read more

We did the ice cream room and it was one of the best escape the rooms we've done. It's a well balanced mix of different clues and locks and magnets. So many puzzles to solve. So well done. Highly recommend!!! read more

Went with a group of 6 people and did the "victim" room. I have been to several escape rooms in the past and this one was by far the hardest. Our game master Tim was enthusiastic and fun. Although we failed to finish in the 60 minute time frame we all had a great time. I would suggest escape 101 changes the victim room to 90 minutes due to its complexity. Great time, I will be going back. read more

Everything about this experience was a disappointment. When I put the business into Waze I was directed to a different town and location. Being from out of state, I didn't know the difference. When we finally at the location, my heart sank when I saw a dilapidated strip mall. I knew that it was going to be a fail. We were escorted down a hallway into a tiny, basic room that just had some foam on the floors some patched up holes in the wall and a few gears on the wall. Not only was there, no thought put into the experience, there were strange odors in the air in the business, and there were open spaces with paint cans and debris lying about. The girl who helped us smell like cigarette smoke or fruity vape-hard to tell. It just seems like a thrown together after thought. At least I feel better about not paying full price and using a Groupon. of the other rooms just felt like there was no effort put into this business read more

Place was filthy! Employees were nasty. Clues in room were destroyed by previous customers, and never repaired, so clues made no sense. Contacted Management. They did not care about our horrible experience. Cost me $176 for 5 people for 1 hour. Use your money more wisely. Don't waste it on this place! Even bathroom was disgusting. read more

Such a shame that this place has gone so down hill. The employees made it clear they didn't want to be there. The girl at the desk was complaining about needing to reset the rooms. We even tried to joke with her to cheer her up and she refused. They didn't set the room up right- they didn't answer our calls for clues- and when they did- they wasted our time trying to read clues out of a binder while standing in front of us in the room. It was so sad because we could have had fun if they cared about making it a nice experience read more

We reserved a session for 4 adults and when we arrived were informed that four 10 year old children will be joining our group. It was a total disaster defeating the purpose of the game for the adults, resulting in total disappointment. We had a great experience here for my mother's birthday. Having completed escape rooms at other locations, we were expecting clues/tasks to be slightly repetitive, but that was not the case. Went there with a group of 11 people. It was fun and challenging to get out of the room in under a hour. No, we didn't get out in a hour but Steve gave us some extra minutes and we did figure it out. One lock was holding the secret to the challenge. Steve was so nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend coming here! read more

Their rooms are not detailed at all. I have done over 30 escape rooms and this is one of my least favorite. For there Jet Set room you are basically in a white room with at lease 20 locks. Also, their Doomsday room is basic. There was one puzzle that was not working and the game master had to come into our room over 4 times to fix it. He had to come in with a power tool to try and fix it. There is no detail and you do not feel immersed. All of these puzzles are basic and there are no electronic puzzles. Also, all of there rooms are single-roomed and small. This makes the game boring. Their customer service is great but I feel like the owners did not put time and care into the rooms and they don't care if players have a good experience. I would suggest going to a different place. read more

I've tried a couple of these escape rooms, but escape 101 is by far my favorite. Cool concept that brings something different to Connecticut. Staff was super friendly, and helpful. We did the Widow's Room and it was great- yes, it is difficult but the best advice is to use the 3 clues the staff give you- don't be proud! It gives you the momentum needed to push through and it would suck to get to the end and not finish but have clues left. Staff was awesome and even though we were the last group at 10:30pm they were engaged and fun- can't wait to do another room soon! read more

I actually feel bad writing this review. I have played 40 rooms. Sadly this location is at the bottom of my list. I have played two of their rooms. Both times we played with a total of 8 players. Widows Room and Jet Set. The rooms are extremely difficult because of a combination of red herrings and loose clues. The clues are so loose that there is no reasoning why one piece of a clue matches up with another piece of a clue, that then matches up with a lock. Even after the staff gave explanations, my group discussed it and we found no connection. You want to save your hints for these loose clues. Also, the clues are not linear, which adds to the complicated nature of the puzzles. In comparison to other rooms, there is little engineering/technology in play. It's all just locks and various clues. There is no obvious theme in the room. Positively: The rooms are big open spaces that can tolerate large groups. The staff are really friendly and help you as much as they can. You have two Jet Set rooms and you can play against another team simultaneously. Recommendation: Bring as many people as you can to the rooms Try to use your hints only when something seems impossible Keep expectations for escape low, and have fun read more

Unfortunately I was unable to use the room. When I asked for a refund or to be able to reschedule, the nice employee said that it is in their terms of service for no refunds or reschedules but that she would contact her manager to see if they could do something. Brief wait and she comes back and says I'm sorry but my manager said it is in the terms and services that I agreed to. Well, I'm out the $55 bucks. Very bad customer service that they couldn't at least offer a rescheduled time. I will not be returning here. read more
