First and foremost, this is the best Italian you will find in Sparta and the general area. The 6" is super filling, and the 10" in absolutely loaded. You can easily split the 10" between two people unless you are ravenous or otherwise out of control. Sometimes entering the deli can feel a bit awkward because there is a line queue set up but most people ahead of you are just standing around the deli, spread out, and it can be hard to tell if someone has ordered or is waiting for their turn, but it is no big deal. During lunch hours, I strongly recommend calling in your order ahead. read more

I had an awful experience with Erics Deli unfortunately. I catered this past weekend for my husbands surprise 30th. Anyone who ate the deli meat sandwiches got very sick with either diarrhea, vomiting or both. My only friend who was unaffected was a vegetarian. I wanted to notify Eric about the experience and he was very rude to my husband and myself. I will never go back here again for anything and I don't recommend his catering either. read more

When you walk in, the deli seems a bit odd because all the deli cases are mostly empty.The sandwiches here aren't bad. The bread they use is pretty good. They don't put a ton of meat on each sandwich, but they put enough. Not too many deli options around Sparta, so this place is fine. Maybe a 3.5 - slightly better than average. read more

Even though I walked in after closing I was greeted warmly and treated like a welcome customer. The Italian subs we got we a 5 plus freshly cut meat and veggies evethough it was 5 pm. The pickles on side were deli dill #1 Old fashion dolls crunchy and fresh. We'll be going back there after this experience and try their Ruben while the grill is still hot. Eric really cleaned up the space occupied by the Woodport Deli (RIP) and made it a place that looks good and has good sandwiches. As long as these guys stay faster than Augies, they can own the sandwich market in deli-deprived Sparta. Basic Italian sub was very good, bread just okay, chips and pickle come along with the sandwich. Not a wide selection of salads the day I was in, but they had the case space for it. Added bonus - a dedicated case for packaged Boars Head treats. read more

Slowest service I have ever experienced. There were two customers but took 25 minutes to get a pound of turkey. The slicer girl took a painfully slow time, laying each slice down so carefully then proceeded to continue. I understand the need for safety with those machines, but that was too much. read more

This is the first time I tried this deli. Ordering was easy, which is my only positive. 4 of us ordered and it took 30 minutes to get our sandwiches. While waiting, we asked to use the restroom and was told there wasn't one but to go to the pizza joint next door. We did but the owner was not happy and said they do have one there but the deli always sends their patrons to him. As for the sandwiches, mine was basic turkey and cheese and I found it to be dry and just okay. My coworkers thought theirs were also ok, but commented that the potato salad wasn't good. The bill came to $45 so they should be more accommodating when travelers come through. read more

I love this deli! So happy we finally have a quality deli in Sparta as Augies has gone completely downhill. Eric's should be the top deli in town unless they do something drastic. Eric's deli has done a great job renovating an existing deli's spot. The place is very clean and has a very nice setup. There is even a counter with seats at the front window. The staff is always friendly & courteous. They smile and welcome you which makes them give good customer service. Sandwiches, hot food, heroes, salads, bagels are all great!! My favorite is their coffee selection, including "Bananas Foster" flavor which I stop in for daily. I definitely recommend this deli. read more
