Gilligan construction was recommended to us by our property manager. Brian came out to diagnose a…read morewater intrusion issue that another contractor either created or exacerbated when replacing our water main and then would not come out to fix their own work. He found the issue quickly and recommended some permanent fixes to keep the water from getting in under the foundation and into our build up and then lower level / storage closet after big rain storms or heavy snowfall. Brian was very communicative and transparent about the whole process. The pricing for the project was very reasonable. His crew retrenched the line, moved the stop and waste valve, installed a French drain, added a retention wall, and did several other things to thoroughly mitigate the water intrusion. They finally laid a cement pad in the front of the house to replace the original deck and to further keep water away from the foundation. Very pleased with the result and the timing in which they were able to complete the project. Daniel and the rest of the crew were very responsive, friendly, and were always available to answer any questions I had. I couldn't be happier and am confident that we wont have any issues moving forward with water intrusion at the front of our cabin. Thank you to everyone at Gilligan Construction!

It was a pleasure working with Genaro and his crew. I had my roofing redone and a skylight…read moreinstalled. High Mountain construction was always responsive and kept me posted through the process. Here's one of the reasons I went with Genaro. As a registered civil and structural engineer, I deal with general contractors daily as a full-time job. So you can say I have an eye out for lazy contractors. Genaro was the first contractor to arrive out of 5 roofing companies I reached out to. (Note High Mountain does way more than roofing, but my review is limited to this scope). Not only was he the first to arrive, but he was also the first to email me a professional quote. He took a good look and took accurate measurements. Accurate measurements allow him to have a competitive bid. His number came in lower than I had expected and before any other quote came in, I decided to sign him up. After a week, I did have lazy quotes come in and all were higher. My instinct was right about him. My house was built with T&G roof and foam insulation but lacked the plywood on top. (Shocking right!!) This was an obvious change order and as a structural engineer, I knew this was not covered in his original quote. Normally this would be a good opportunity for a huge change order, but his quote for the added service was very reasonable. Once the change order was approved he picked up 40 sheets of plywood within a day and started to install it the next day. Genaro is very price conscious and was willing to drive his truck down the hill to get better pricing. On top of that, I saw a very little delay in the schedule. I could see another contractor saying, "Well Big Bear is out of plywood so it will be another week. We'll come back another time." I was truly amazed at his good work ethic. In addition, Genaro has a big crew that comes to finish a job sooner, but I told him I was good with his timeline. So what is the advantage of having a big crew? Well if it's about to snow in 3 days, better get more people to cover up the roof with black paper! Sure enough, he made it in time for the storm! The inspection went smooth and the roof was completed before the storm. Skylight looks nice! Can't ask for more and will be recommending them to my friends and yes he's a local. I typically do not write a long review but seeing that High Mountain had 0 yelp review, I had to make it count.

Ben at Bonafide Earthworks did an outstanding job on our cabin project in Lake Arrowhead. From the…read morebeginning, his ideas were creative, practical, and inspiring. His dedication to his craft and attention to detail were evident throughout the entire process. Ben worked closely with us to develop a plan that fit within our budget, which was very competitive. While our budget didn't allow us to complete the entire project at this time, we moved forward with a portion of the work and couldn't be happier with the results. We fully intend to have Ben return in the future to complete the rest of the project. What really set Ben apart was his commitment to customer satisfaction. He went above and beyond by providing an extra scoop of crushed rock and spreading the excess in an adjoining area that greatly needed it. That level of service was greatly appreciated. On the day the asphalt was installed, Ben and his crew were quick, efficient, and incredibly detail-oriented. Although concrete was initially an option, we ultimately chose asphalt to better meet code requirements for our mountain community, and we're very glad we did. If you're looking for a contractor who is honest, hardworking, skilled, and genuinely cares about the quality of his work, I highly recommend Ben and Bonafide Earthworks. They completely remodeled my entire backyard and turned it into something I'm proud to show off. They poured new concrete that came out clean, smooth, and perfectly done. On top of that, they built a beautiful retaining wall and even added a garden area that honestly tied the whole space together and gave it that finished, high-end look. What really stood out was their attention to detail and work ethic. Nothing felt rushed or sloppy--everything was done right the first time. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and kept me in the loop the whole way through. You can tell they take pride in their work, and it shows in every part of the project. My backyard went from basic to looking like a completely new space. It feels bigger, cleaner, and way more functional now.
