I tend to get pretty anxious about dental visits, but Amy, my hygienist, was so friendly and made me feel completely at ease. She was really patient and took the time to explain everything she was doing, which helped calm my nerves a lot. My only feedback would be about the cost clarity. I went in thinking I was just getting a routine cleaning, but ended up needing a deeper cleaning, which added an extra $93 to the bill. I was also told I'd need to come back in six weeks for the routine cleaning, which would be covered by my insurance. I wish I'd been made aware of this at the start so I could have been prepared for the additional charge. Aside from that, everything went really well. The staff was professional and friendly, and I'll be back for my next visit. Amy really made the whole experience much less stressful, and I'm grateful for that!

I would like to give a special acknowledgment to my hygienist Amy. I have lost count regarding how many times I have moved as well as how many hygienists have treated me. But without doubt, Amy is by FAR the best of them all. She is extremely knowledgeable, very thorough, enthusiastic, VERY patient, and explains everything in a clear, precise manner. In addition to her superior dental skills she is also a truly wonderful person. Immediately upon meeting Amy it like she's been your best friend forever. She is genuinely warm and always is a highly interesting conversationalist. My family and myself always look forward to seeing Amy. Without any reservations, I highly recommend Dr. Shepard and his practice at Modern Dental of Durham.

Getting a dental implant is something where I'm not sure "I'm a fan" is EVER an accurate review,…read moreeven if for some reason one wanted to knock a star off of a provider's rating, which I don't. No one WANTS to have a dental implant. It's an involved process, which also ALWAYS requires a "radical cash-ectomy." But if you have a tooth that can't be saved, and you have the resources to absorb the cost, Triangle Implant Center is the place to go. I am a dental work wuss, and the thought of "We're going to drill into the bone" gave me High Anxiety (TM Mel Brooks). But Dr. Reebeye is kind, calm, and gives the impression that he's done so many of these, that he could knock these out while asleep if he had to. I elected to have sedation, and he has an actual anesthesiologist on staff, which put me at ease as to who was going to be minding the store to make sure I woke up afterward. Having the implant took only about 45 minutes from the time I sat in the chair till I woke up. No pain, no problem. I didn't even need painkillers afterward. The process also involves a few follow-up visits to check how the bone is growing around the implant, and a final visit to place the healing abutment. For this, it's local anesthesia only, takes about five minutes, and is easy as pie. Now I go back to my dentist for the crown and we're done. I don't understand the poor reviews. Yes, you have to pay for the entire implant process up front. I don't have a problem with this. It is an expensive procedure and they don't do this for free. I found Dr. Reebeye to be very kind and thorough, and the staff and technicians to be courteous and understanding as well. I'm hoping not to need many more implants, if any, but if I do, this is where I'm going to go. Not the cheapest implant in the Triangle, I'm sure, but highly recommended for professionalism, courtesy, and quality of work.

The office management is very poor, I was scheduled for the surgery months out but they called me less than a week before the appointment and said that they had to cancel because they had not received information from my cardiologist they needed. After some begging on my part they agreed to keep the appointment if my cardiologist sent the info, which he said he already did but he sent it again immediately. When I arrived I was treated okay by the staff at first until I was in the chair. When the surgeons came in NEITHER ONE OF THEM SAID A WORD TO ME. Instead one of them grabbed my chin and pulled it up and back, applying painful pressure underneath my jaw. My attempts to say something to her was ignored and she held me there until the drugs kicked in. When I woke up I was already outside of the clinic being bundled into the car with my mouth stuffed with gauze. I waited for months only to be treated like this because of a mistake that the office manager had made!! I don't recommend this facility at all and I have let my dentist know about the treatment and hopefully they will stop referring patients there. Update!!! One year after getting my dentures I have to have a piece of tooth removed that was left in my gums!! I can't bite down on that side because it is too painful. I am reporting this to the medical board. This place needs to be closed down!!

My previous dentist told me I would have to pay over $7k in a deep gum cleaning because of severe bone loss. I only went in for a cleaning, which they didn't do because they said my issue was so severe. Dr. Allison cleaned my teeth, went over my X-rays and assured me there was no severe bone loss. I'm still in shock. I'm definitely coming back, and thankful for the referral Also, there was a woman in the office that was upset things were taking so long for her (and it was he own fault). I'd been neglecting my teeth, so I was pretty nervous, but Dr. Allison's office made it as painless as possible. I've always been to a dentist where the assistant cleans your teeth, and the dentist comes in afterwards to check her work. This was definitely not the case with Dr. Allison. As soon as I finished x-rays, he came in and thoroughly cleaned my teeth, catching some areas of concern that my previous dentist had missed. My teeth look the best they've looked in years, even when I was going to the dentist regularly. He gave a thorough, honest assessment of my teeth, without trying to charge me for unnecessary procedures. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was very pleased, and will definitely make this my regular dentist.

From start to finish...Dr. Gaddis and her team make going to the dentist a stress free experience,…read moreand that says a lot coming from me...when I walk in I am greeted by my name (it's like they know who I am or something) taken back by my hygienist (Mingee) who is professional, focused and thorough and Dr Mary follows up with a comprehensive check of my teeth/mouth/gums...I couldn't ask for a better experience! Even with the current Pandemic situation they are like a well oiled machine...I love being able to sit in my car till I'm called up (on time) and everyone is masked and practicing safe standards that made me feel comfortable during this very uncertain time... Kudos to the whole team...you all ROCK!!

I transferred dentists as part of a move from Raleigh to Durham and based on a referral from a…read moreneighbor. Unfortunately, we did not have a good (net) experience. We are a family with fairly healthy teeth, practice regular hygiene and dental cleanings, and had no significant issues 10 months (long stretch due to Covid) prior at our prior long-term dentist--upon seeing Dr. Gaddis, multiple cavities, root canals, and others services were promoted, many of questionable need. Pros: Good location, nice office, new equipment/technology, thorough hygienists, nice staff (for the most part), good bedside manner (for the most part) Cons: 1. Wife was referred for THREE root canals, ALL of which our endodontist told us he has no idea what Dr. Gaddis was referring to. Gaddis also referred us (like all her clients) to an endodontist that has many poor reviews, which was an early red flag, and why we ended up selecting our own (that is highly reviewed). It also raises the specter of potential quid pro quo between the two practices. 2. Gaddis told me my daughter needed sealant because of her baby teeth cavities being an indicator for her proclivity to cavities. When I said my prior dentist told us baby teeth are not a good indicator for cavities in permanent teeth (because they're weaker, less enamel, etc), she said "I don't recall hearing that in school". After a quick Internet search, I confirmed it is well known amongst professionals in the field that baby teeth cavities are NOT a good indicator for the health of adult teeth, leading me to conclude Gaddis either doesn't know some fundamental facts in dentistry or is intentionally discarding what she knows to promote more services (consistent with Con #1)...either of which is not good. 3. Front office staff can be a bit edgy/dry/cold...not outright mean, but not generally warm, like our prior practice. It's not a deal-breaker on its own, but coupled with the other issues not helpful. We were really hoping that we'd found a new dental home and allowed benefit of the doubt several times, but ultimately too many red flags have pushed us back to our prior practice until we can find a better local option.

What elevated my visit was seeing the care given to other patients. As My Wife&I left I noticed a patient being wheeled out in a wheelchair from a procedure.
