I went in thinking I was just getting a routine cleaning, but ended up needing a deeper cleaning, which added an extra $93 to the bill. I was also told I'd need to come back in six weeks for the routine cleaning, which would be covered by my insurance. I wish I'd been made aware of this at the start so I could have been prepared for the additional charge. Aside from that, everything went really well. The office management is very poor, I was scheduled for the surgery months out but they called me less than a week before the appointment and said that they had to cancel because they had not received information from my cardiologist they needed. After some begging on my part they agreed to keep the appointment if my cardiologist sent the info, which he said he already did but he sent it again immediately. When I arrived I was treated okay by the staff at first until I was in the chair. When the surgeons came in NEITHER ONE OF THEM SAID A WORD TO ME. Instead one of them grabbed my chin and pulled it up and back, applying painful pressure underneath my jaw. My attempts to say something to her was ignored and she held me there until the drugs kicked in. When I woke up I was already outside of the clinic being bundled into the car with my mouth stuffed with gauze. I waited for months only to be treated like this because of a mistake that the office manager had made!! I don't recommend this facility at all and I have let my dentist know about the treatment and hopefully they will stop referring patients there. Update!!! One year after getting my dentures I have to have a piece of tooth removed that was left in my gums!! I can't bite down on that side because it is too painful. I transferred dentists as part of a move from Raleigh to Durham and based on a referral from a…read moreneighbor. Unfortunately, we did not have a good (net) experience. We are a family with fairly healthy teeth, practice regular hygiene and dental cleanings, and had no significant issues 10 months (long stretch due to Covid) prior at our prior long-term dentist--upon seeing Dr. Gaddis, multiple cavities, root canals, and others services were promoted, many of questionable need. Pros: Good location, nice office, new equipment/technology, thorough hygienists, nice staff (for the most part), good bedside manner (for the most part) Cons: 1. Wife was referred for THREE root canals, ALL of which our endodontist told us he has no idea what Dr. Gaddis was referring to. Gaddis also referred us (like all her clients) to an endodontist that has many poor reviews, which was an early red flag, and why we ended up selecting our own (that is highly reviewed). It also raises the specter of potential quid pro quo between the two practices. 2. Gaddis told me my daughter needed sealant because of her baby teeth cavities being an indicator for her proclivity to cavities. When I said my prior dentist told us baby teeth are not a good indicator for cavities in permanent teeth (because they're weaker, less enamel, etc), she said "I don't recall hearing that in school". After a quick Internet search, I confirmed it is well known amongst professionals in the field that baby teeth cavities are NOT a good indicator for the health of adult teeth, leading me to conclude Gaddis either doesn't know some fundamental facts in dentistry or is intentionally discarding what she knows to promote more services (consistent with Con #1)...either of which is not good. 3. Front office staff can be a bit edgy/dry/cold...not outright mean, but not generally warm, like our prior practice. It's not a deal-breaker on its own, but coupled with the other issues not helpful. We were really hoping that we'd found a new dental home and allowed benefit of the doubt several times, but ultimately too many red flags have pushed us back to our prior practice until we can find a better local option.
